The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne
Chapter 1060: A Short Battle
Two figures were locked in a fierce battle in the sky. They were none other than the Singularity of Light in his lightning form and the Singularity of Chaos in his avatar form.
They clashed fiercely, sending terrifying waves of energy in every direction.
Whoosh!
Both figures vanished, only to collide again a moment later.
"You won’t be able to defeat me, Singularity of Chaos!" the Singularity of Light shouted.
He pulled back, then opened his right palm. A giant sword, two meters long, appeared in his grasp.
The sword was made of golden lightning so bright it was almost blinding. It was his main weapon, Orundar.
However, this wasn’t its true form, but merely a prototype.
He raised his sword high above his head before bringing it down.
Slash!
A five-meter-long slash of light shot toward them at incredible speed.
Unlike his previous attack on Evalyn, this one was infused with both lightning and light.
If it struck the capital of Solvaria, the city would undoubtedly be split in two in the blink of an eye.
But the Singularity of Chaos showed no fear as he watched the attack approach.
He casually waved his hand.
In an instant, the slash froze in midair. The space around it contracted before shattering the attack into pieces.
The Singularity of Light’s eyes widened at the sight.
"It seems your control over spatial power has become far more terrifying than before, huh?"
The Singularity of Light snorted coldly.
"But I’m much stronger than before, too!"
Whoosh!
He vanished and reappeared right behind the Singularity of Chaos.
He swung his sword horizontally, but a mysterious barrier blocked the attack.
Unwilling to give up, the Singularity of Light poured all his power into the Orundar sword in his hand.
Crack!
The spatial barrier protecting the Singularity of Chaos began to crack. The cracks spread rapidly until the barrier finally shattered into pieces.
"Die!"
Just as the sword was about to hit his back, the space around the Singularity of Light suddenly twisted.
His sword cut straight through the Singularity of Chaos, splitting him in two. But the figure instantly turned into a shadow and vanished into thin air.
The Singularity of Light was stunned.
He looked up and saw the Singularity of Chaos floating calmly above him.
’W-What was that...!? How did he disappear!?’ the Singularity of Light thought in shock.
He hadn’t sensed even the slightest spatial shift or the tiniest fluctuation in energy.
Yet somehow, the Singularity of Chaos had evaded his lightning-fast attack without him even noticing.
’He’s getting stronger...’
That was the only explanation he could think of.
The Singularity of Light’s expression darkened.
In theory, Singularities couldn’t get any stronger. Their power had already reached its peak, so there was no room for further growth.
At least, that’s what everyone believed, including the Singularities themselves.
But that wasn’t the case.
A year ago, he had discovered a terrifying truth: Singularities could, in fact, become even stronger.
Since then, he had deliberately avoided appearing before the others. He wanted to surprise them and show them just how powerful he had become.
However, he hadn’t expected the Singularity of Chaos to discover this secret as well.
He had no idea how the other man had managed it, but this was clearly a serious problem.
’I have to retreat...’
That thought crossed his mind.
It wasn’t because he was afraid. If he fought to the bitter end, he would only end up hurting himself. He didn’t want to reveal all his cards to the Singularity of Chaos.
At least, not yet.
As for his grudge over Elyan’s death, he would set it aside for now.
Still, he swore he would take revenge on both the Singularity of Chaos and that woman from the Lionheart family.
The Singularity of Light took a deep breath, trying to swallow his pride and suppress the anger he felt over having to back down.
The Orundar sword in his hand simply vanished.
The Singularity of Chaos, still hovering above him, looked surprised by this.
’Does he want to end the fight?’ he wondered.
His guess was right. The Singularity of Light let go of his hostility and killing intent.
"You may have won today, but remember this! I’ll make you pay a hundredfold one day!"
With that, his body turned into a stream of lightning and disappeared from sight.
The Singularity of Chaos could only watch him leave in surprise.
...
"What the hell was that old man thinking? He just left like that?"
Nolan opened his eyes and furrowed his brow.
The Singularity of Light was an arrogant and merciless old man. There was no way he’d simply walk away from a fight like that.
’Could it be that he’s afraid I’ll beat him and embarrass him?’
Nolan fell silent for a moment, then let out a quiet chuckle.
The thought was pretty amusing.
After all, he was only at eighty percent of his peak strength. If they’d fought until the very end, he would have actually lost to the Singularity of Light.
"Whatever..."
Nolan stretched his stiff body, then rested his chin on his palms as he leaned against the windowsill.
"But the battle on the Corvil Plains was pretty intense," he muttered thoughtfully. "Those troops in golden armor clearly belonged to the Holy Empire of Valtanir. It seems my suspicions were right all along. Duke Malvain is working with them to attack the empire. Hmm..."
He stared into the distance, lost in thought.
Although he’d suspected it, Nolan was still quite shocked by the revelation. After all, Jason and his father had always been close.
Yet, Jason had still betrayed his father and joined forces with the Holy Empire of Valtanir.
"What could they have offered him to make him betray us?" he muttered, narrowing his eyes slightly. "Looks like I’ll have to investigate this."
...
The battle on the Corvil Plains raged on. The earlier appearance of the Singularity of Light had done nothing to change the course of the war.
With the arrival of the Holy Empire of Valtanir’s forces, the rebels finally had a chance to turn the tide.
"Mages in the front ranks, attack! Mages in the second ranks, heal the wounded!" an elderly mage shouted.
"Archers, raise your bows! Fire!" another commander shouted.
Thousands of fireballs and arrows rained down on the battlefield.
But the priests of the Holy Empire of Valtanir weren’t about to just stand by and do nothing.
Led by a middle-aged man, they raised their staffs and started casting holy spells.
A blue barrier appeared, blocking most of the attacks from the mages and archers.
The spectacular sight showed just how fierce and chaotic the battle had become.
"Surrender, Elina Lorian. You’ve lost."
Corvin pointed his sword at Elina, who stood three meters away. A mocking smirk spread across his face.
Elina gasped for breath, using her sword to support her exhausted body.
She slowly raised her heavy head and glared at Corvin and the tall, burly man standing beside him.
"Am I really going to lose here...?" she murmured weakly.
