The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 322 A Man Who Doesn't Respect Himself Is Like a Rotten Cabbage

“What? You think it’s too little?”

Yvonne Lowell shot him a sidelong glance, and the car was suddenly filled with a ‘dare to nod and I’ll end you’ vibe.

Leo Grant immediately denied it. “How could I? I just think twenty million is too much. You see, I barely have any personal expenses. For lunch, I either eat at the company cafeteria or order something on the company’s dime. I come home to eat with you for dinner, and any client entertainment is also covered by the company. Back in the day, the most my dad ever gave me for allowance was two million a month. How about we just knock a zero off that amount? If I need money for something else, I can just ask you then, right?”

He could guarantee that if he dared to tease her with the four words ‘life comes full circle,’ the consequences would be far more severe than complaining it was too little.

So, faced with a choice between ‘money’ and ‘his life’—options A and B—he decisively chose C: offering to give the money back!

“Alright, just take it. How can my man be out and about with no money in his pocket? That would be a slap in the face to me, wouldn’t it?”

Yvonne Lowell said nonchalantly.

Her words of unconditional trust warmed Leo Grant’s heart, yet something still felt off.

When most people get into a relationship, they can’t wait to get control of their partner’s finances. But she did the opposite, giving him a huge allowance.

So, whether it was a moment of madness or he was simply determined to court death, he tentatively asked,

“They always say men with money turn bad. Aren’t you afraid I’ll turn bad with all this money?”

“What do I have to be afraid of?”

Yvonne Lowell scoffed, pulling her hand back from his.

“President Grant, before you transferred all your assets to me, your bank balance had way more zeros than this, didn’t it? You didn’t go bad when you were even richer, so why start now? What am I, some special kind of activation switch? However…”

Yvonne Lowell paused, then smoothly retrieved a handgun from the glove compartment in front of her and began toying with it in her palm.

“I hope you understand one simple truth: a man who doesn’t respect himself is no better than rotting greens. If that day ever comes, I will absolutely make sure you and that woman… Oh, my bad. I almost forgot that President Grant is still gynophobic. But who knows what the future holds? Anyway, if that day ever comes, I’ll be sure to take you and your…”

As she spoke, Yvonne Lowell, without so much as a blink, quickly disassembled the gun in her hand into a pile of parts. She looked at him with a perfectly innocent smile.

“Got it, my dear fiancé?”

They were stopped at a red light. Leo Grant glanced at the pile of gun parts on her lap, and a chill shot up from the soles of his feet straight to his head.

His gaze traveled up her thigh and met hers directly.

In Yvonne Lowell’s ‘pure and innocent’ gaze, he somehow managed to detect a glint of murderous intent.

“Loud and clear.” Leo Grant swallowed almost imperceptibly, his gaze firm as he spoke.

“I promise you, that day will never, ever come! If it does, forget the gun. Just use every method Falcon has and finish me off. But whatever you do, don’t make it quick and painless.”

‘How could I compare my precious girl to anyone else? That’s a heinous, unforgivable sin!’

‘My darling does this because she trusts me, because she loves me with her entire being, and here I am, letting my mind run wild! I just had to poke the bear!’

‘Well, look what happened. I deserve it!’

‘And I’ve always known, deep down, that Yvonne is completely different from the other women I find so repulsive.’

‘She’s clear-headed, independent, and free, and won’t tolerate a single grain of sand in her eye.’

‘All along, I’ve been the one who can’t live without her.’

‘So, if I ever have a single thought of wronging Yvonne in this lifetime, it can only mean I’ve been possessed!’

“Good boy. As long as you understand.”

Yvonne Lowell, a smile playing on her lips, leaned in and gently pressed a kiss to his lips.

Before he could demand more, she pulled back to her seat.

“The light’s green. Let’s go. We’re good citizens; we can’t be holding up traffic.”

‘He says something so stupid and still expects me to kiss him? In his dreams!’

Leo Grant glanced at the red light’s three-second countdown and reluctantly started the car.

Yvonne Lowell reassembled the handgun, saying nonchalantly,

“Oh, right. If you’re thinking of turning bad, at least wait a while. After all, I haven’t found anyone who can take care of me better than you yet. But if you insist on starting right away, that’s fine too. Anyway, three-legged men are a dime a dozen. I’ll just try out a few more, and I’m sure I’ll find a replacement for you.”

By the time she finished speaking, the handgun was already reassembled. She tossed it back into the glove compartment.

Leo Grant was so exasperated he laughed. His voice was cold as he said,

“Yvonne Lowell, have you forgotten that we’ve already set a wedding date? It hasn’t even been eight hours since we set it, and you’re already thinking of calling it off?”

‘Impossible! She can forget about it!’

“You yourself said we’ve *only* set the date. People can get divorced even after they’re married, so why can’t an engagement date be canceled?”

Feeling the urge to tease him, Yvonne Lowell shot back with a straight face.

In truth, she hadn’t been angry. Just a bit exasperated.

‘Such a grown man, and still so childish?’

‘Besides, since he asked, she might as well be honest. Consider it a little ‘preventative shot’ for a certain groom-to-be.’

‘She remembered saying a long time ago that she trusted him, but she trusted her own judgment even more.’

‘This came from nothing more than two things—a sense of security and self-assurance.’

‘Some of it came from Leo Grant in their daily interactions, and some from her family and friends, but most of it came from herself.’

‘So, even if she discovered one day that she’d been blind and her prized cabbage had turned to rotten leaves, she had the self-assurance to walk away completely and the courage to start over.’

‘Of course, before she made her clean exit, she’d first take apart that bastard and his accomplice ^_^’

Leo Grant snatched up her hand, clutching it tightly in his palm, and said through gritted teeth,

“Don’t even think about it! This life, the next, and the one after that—I’m never letting you go. If I ever hear you say something like that again, I’ll make sure you can’t get out of bed.”

‘Right now, besides regretting speaking without thinking, he regretted even more driving himself instead of getting a chauffeur.’

‘Otherwise, the very first thing he’d do right now would be to stop that little mouth of hers from spouting any more nonsense! Keep her from talking such rubbish all day long!’

Yvonne Lowell chuckled lightly. “The feeling is mutual.”

‘If she heard him talk like that again, forget getting her into bed; the guy wouldn’t even get his foot in the door.’

Remembering she still had business to attend to, Yvonne Lowell picked up her phone again.

She expertly logged into the internal website of ilpianeta and edited a few files.

Finally, after double-checking everything, she sent it with a single click.

After sending it, she didn’t forget to switch to her messaging app and set all of Harrison Lowell’s contacts to ‘Do Not Disturb.’

‘I hope my dear second brother isn’t too ‘moved’ by my efficiency.’
