The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 266 - 265: The Father of My Future Child
Leo Grant raised an eyebrow almost imperceptibly. ’Looks like the three of them hold some pretty high positions in Apeiron.’
Although he’d long known that Yvonne Lowell would be the next master of Apeiron, he couldn’t help but feel a little surprised experiencing it firsthand.
Whether the Continent Lord of Apeiron had ’picked up’ any other young masters or ladies after finding them was another matter, but to be addressed with such reverence here clearly meant their status was extraordinary.
"ROAR!" ’Why didn’t you greet me?! Have you all forgotten me?! I’m your Lord Lionus!!!’
The Leogryph darted to the very front and let out a huge roar at the lead guard.
Having been completely ignored by its own mother for the entire flight, the Leogryph had pushed through the crowd while the cabin door was still closed and "discreetly" sidled up behind Yvonne Lowell, planning to reluctantly make a show of submission to her.
But in the end, Yvonne and the others completely stole Lord Lionus’s thunder. ’Damn it, I really let my guard down this time!’
’No person or thing!!! Anybody!!! Anything!!!’
’Can steal the spotlight from Lord Lionus, not even my own mother!!!’
’I should have been the lead lion! Once my majestic and handsome reputation spread throughout all of Apeiron, then I could have gone back to appease Mom.’
The guard flinched at the roar, freezing on the spot. He didn’t dare to move a muscle, his eyes frantically pleading with Yvonne Lowell for help.
This little ancestor had been more terrifying than The Mountain Lord since they were young. At least The Mountain Lord only acted this ferocious on the training grounds.
Normally, The Mountain Lord wasn’t exactly a kitten, but he was at least relatively friendly to people—completely different from this little terror.
Zachary Jacobs, enjoying the show from the sidelines, decided to fan the flames.
"Woohoo! Forgetting to greet it first was one thing, but you guys just straight up ignored it. If you don’t handle this well, things might get ugly today."
The Leogryph was a total hypocrite. It was fine for it to ignore you, but you weren’t allowed to not take the initiative to greet it.
The guard: ’Ugly my ass! Why don’t you just yank it into the car?!’
"Leo... Leogryph, hello there?" the guard said cautiously.
"ROAR!" ’You’re a smart one! But remember, I’m a horse-eater, not a horse-herder! Don’t let it happen again, ’kay!’
The guard stared blankly at Yvonne Lowell. ’What did it just roar?’
’Is it happy now or not? Are we done here?’
Yvonne Lowell gave its butt an exasperated kick. "You drama queen. Get in the car already."
’Doesn’t it know animals aren’t supposed to get this smart? Not afraid of getting captured and dissected, the dumbass!’
"Mewl~" ’Mommy~ You’re the one who talked to me first this time! It wasn’t me who gave in and showed weakness~ So I guess I’ll reluctantly forgive you!’
The Leogryph turned and gave Yvonne Lowell a haughty nuzzle, then, before Leo Grant could step forward and pull it away, it leaped into the bed of the Pika sent specifically to pick it up.
Yvonne Lowell couldn’t help but twitch her lips. ’Why is it putting on that cutesy voice now? Did I seriously just kick it into a state of bliss?’
"Let’s go."
Yvonne Lowell tilted her head toward the vehicles and took the lead, pulling Leo Grant toward one of the cars.
The group got into the cars and drove toward the cluster of buildings in the deepest part of Apeiron.
A huge lion head poked out of the Pika bringing up the rear. Those in the know understood it was just showing off; those who didn’t would have thought the lion had committed a crime and was being paraded around the continent for public shaming.
Leogryph: ’Lionus here is just a cool guy who loves to show off~’
「After what felt like a long time」, the cars finally came to a stop in front of a classical Chinese garden with intricately carved railings and jade-like stonework.
In the back seat, Nolan Crawford stared at the buildings before him, his mouth agape wide enough to swallow a dinosaur egg.
"Yvonne, has Apeiron always been this rich? What’s the difference between this and just moving a scaled-down version of Clearwater Palace over here?!"
He finally understood why Tidalview was designed with such artistic flair. It turned out there was plenty of precedent.
’Looks like they were actually conservative with Tidalview. Compared to this garden, Tidalview is nothing...’
Yvonne Lowell: ’...Aren’t you being a little forward?’
"Does the Crawford Family not feed you or clothe you? Stop acting so impressed by everything. Get out."
Yvonne Lowell turned off the engine, a hint of warmth softening her usually cool, fox-like eyes.
Nolan Crawford pouted. ’The Crawford Family doesn’t leave me wanting for food, clothes, or a big house, but it sure is missing a Clearwater Palace.’
Leo Grant lightly hooked his finger around hers. "Are all the elders inside?"
"The Old Geezer is definitely in there. The others, not necessarily. They’re probably at the training grounds or the labs. What, nervous?" Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow.
"Not really, just confirming," Leo Grant said with a helpless smile.
’Confirming whether I’ll get grilled by everyone at once, or if I’ll be grilled by them one by one.’
"It doesn’t really matter if they’re all here or not, you’ll meet them all this time anyway. Relax, I’ll protect you," Yvonne Lowell said, patting his shoulder like a good buddy.
"Then I’ll have to ask the Young Master to protect me well," Leo Grant teased back.
The group walked around the courtyard and headed inside, followed by several attendants carrying armfuls of gifts.
Entering the living room, they saw a middle-aged man in a Tang suit sitting in the host’s seat, brewing tea.
His aura was steady and dignified, involuntarily drawing everyone’s gaze, yet it also inspired a sense of awe and reverence.
"You’re back? Have a seat."
Kai Preston, in the host’s seat, didn’t stop the motion of brewing tea. Without even giving them a glance, he spoke in a placid tone.
Yvonne Lowell’s lips twitched. She pulled Leo Grant directly to a seat beside him.
’The older he gets, the more proud and contrary he becomes. He obviously got the news the moment our plane landed, and this tea is freshly brewed, yet here he is, still putting on airs.’
Only the three of them, having grown up by his side, knew his personality well enough not to be intimidated by him.
She gave the lion’s leg next to her an almost imperceptible nudge with her knee. The Leogryph understood and ran up to nuzzle Kai Preston.
"ROAR!" ’Old Geezer! Don’t you dare be mean to my mom!’
Looking at the lion head resting on his leg, Kai Preston’s stern expression softened a little. He reached out and ruffled its mane.
"Hmph. You only act close to me when you’re trying to get them out of trouble. Aren’t you going to introduce your guest?"
The first sentence was for the Leogryph; the second was for the humans.
"Old Geezer, weren’t you always nagging me to hurry up and give you a little grandkid to play with? Well, here he is. Leo Grant, the future father of said child."
Yvonne Lowell casually cleaned her ear, then picked up a cup of tea from the table.
Leo Grant stood up, gave a slight bow, and said in a warm voice, "Hello, Uncle Quincy."
Although his face bore a handsome smile, he didn’t conceal an ounce of his commanding presence.
’He was calling him Uncle Quincy, following Zachary Jacobs and the others’ lead. He couldn’t very well call him ’Old Geezer’ like his girlfriend, could he? And calling him ’Master’ didn’t seem appropriate yet, either.’
If he had actually done that, he probably would have been thrown into the sea to feed the octopuses on the spot.
