The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 265 - 264: This Mountain Lord Must Be That Mountain Lord, Right?
The private jet landed on the helipad behind Tidalview.
After the cabin door opened, a group of people carrying gifts big and small boarded the plane. Bringing up the rear, empty-handed, were Yvonne Lowell and Nina Jennings.
The moment they got on, they heard Nolan Crawford, who was at the front, howling in a high-pitched voice, "AHHHHHH! Little Leogryph! You’re here too~ Did you miss your Uncle Nolan?"
Right, there it was. That familiar opening line.
Yvonne Lowell’s steps faltered for a moment. She looked closely and saw a massive golden creature—no, not a person, a lion—hogging an entire row of seats.
Heh. Who else could it be but her "good son," the one who was freakishly smart under that lion’s hide?
When it sensed her gaze, the Leogryph pretended to be nonchalant, turning its head toward the seat to avoid her eyes.
Yvonne Lowell was so amused she was almost angry. ’Playing ostrich, are we?’
She turned, a half-smile on her face, and looked at the culprit. "Felix..."
"My Lady, it’s not that I didn’t want to stop him, I really couldn’t... I don’t know how he found out, but he got on the plane faster than I did, and he wouldn’t let me touch him."
Felix Knight’s face was a picture of misery. He never expected the Leogryph to know he was coming to see their mistress...
Besides, even though a Leogryph is a feline, he’s not some little kitty cat!
Well, except when he’s in front of his mistress.
But besides his mistress, who else would dare provoke this ancestor?!
What was a mere snack like him supposed to do? He was also small, pitiful, and helpless, alright?!
Yvonne Lowell couldn’t help but twitch her lips. She didn’t say anything more and went to sit down next to Leo Grant.
Instead, it was Zachary Jacobs who was watching him, gloating.
"Felix, you can’t stop him now, but if he starts a fight with The Mountain Lord later, you’d better be able to stop them."
"Come here, let me tell you something!" Felix Knight clamped a hand over Zachary’s mouth, dragged him toward the cockpit, and whispered,
"Stop fanning the flames, man! If our mistress takes you seriously, I’m not done with you!!"
’He could barely stop a fight between people, and now he was supposed to stop a lion and a tiger? Was this a joke?!’
The Leogryph ignored Yvonne Lowell, and Yvonne Lowell ignored it right back, not even sparing it a single glance.
Leogryph: ’...So? Has the love finally faded? Why must my life be such a tragedy?’
Nolan Crawford, who had been begging the Leogryph to let him pet it, had his attention drawn by Zachary Jacobs’s words. He turned to look at Yvonne Lowell.
"Yvonne, this Mountain Lord you mentioned... it is *the* Mountain Lord, right?"
Yvonne Lowell shot him a cool glance. "Nolan, can we try asking fewer obvious questions from now on?"
’He’s in his twenties, yet he’s still so naive. When will he ever grow up?!’
"PFFT, exactly. Nolan, can’t you be a little more sensible? HAHAHAHAHAHA..." Nina Jennings laughed without holding back.
Nolan Crawford had no time for her ridicule. He plopped down right across from Yvonne Lowell.
"Wait, you have a tiger too?! Weren’t a lion and a wolf enough for you to handle? Now you’ve got a tiger as well?!"
"ROAR!" ’That’s right! If this were ancient times, my fickle, cheating mother would be drowned in a pig cage!’
The Leogryph chimed in, but unfortunately, Yvonne Lowell completely ignored it.
"Hmm? Didn’t he see Big Bear last time he went to Moonshadow?"
Nina Jennings paused for a second, stunned, before asking.
"No, Big Bear was still hibernating on the mountain back then. Only Luna and her mate came down."
"Wait, who’s Big Bear? No, I mean, what *species* is he?!"
Nolan Crawford felt like his CPU was fried. It had to be the weightlessness from takeoff... right?
Nina Jennings shot him a sidelong glance. "Nolan, did you even have a childhood? Do you not watch cartoons?"
"Hold on, I think my brain is starting to itch. It’s probably about to get bigger." Nolan Crawford held up a hand to stop her, clutching his head with the other.
"So, you’re saying Yvonne has an African lion, a tiger, a brown bear, and a whole family of wolves?"
Nina Jennings gave him a teasing look. "That’s right. Is that too much for you? Yvonne even wanted to go catch a couple of giant octopuses to raise, but I had to stop her."
Silas Lynch and Ian Lynch exchanged a look, seeing the shock in each other’s eyes. ’The mistress truly is terrifyingly formidable...’
Leo Grant raised an eyebrow. He remembered seeing a lot of octopus plushies in her house back on Continent M. That, combined with his girlfriend’s old alias, ’Doctor Octopus’, before she became ’Lila’...
There it was. Case closed. His girlfriend didn’t have a thing for fierce beasts; she just did whatever she felt like.
’But giant octopus suckers... yeah, no thanks. He’d pass.’
He casually changed the subject. "Aren’t Luna and the husky’s pups almost weaned?"
When Luna gave birth a while back, they had even watched the delivery via a remote video call.
Luna had six pups. Four of them were pure white wolf cubs just like her, and he’d had his eye on one of them from the very beginning.
Yvonne: ’...Wow. Getting wild, are we? That whole cross-species... thing?’
"His name is Fenix," Yvonne Lowell said, rolling her eyes at him good-naturedly. "They’ll be weaned in a little over half a month. Want to go back with me to pick one out someday?"
"Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. I’ll handle the paperwork when the time comes," Leo Grant said nonchalantly with a slight nod.
"Yvonne~ I want to raise one too~"
Nolan Crawford’s eyes were shining as he looked at her. That was a wolf! A majestic wolf! It would be so cool to have one, okay?!
Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "Go ask Luna and her mate. If they agree, I have no objection."
"You’re putting me in a tough spot!" Nolan Crawford looked at her resentfully.
Yvonne Lowell shrugged innocently. "I’m not. Luna is very easygoing. She’d be thrilled to have someone else raise her kids for her."
’Was this about raising the pups?! This was about him not daring to get close!!’
Everyone went back to doing their own thing, leaving Nolan Crawford to sulk in a corner by himself.
’Can’t pet the Leogryph, can’t raise a beast.’
If emotion-sensing bubbles could materialize around a person, Nolan Crawford’s right now would surely be:
Sadness, grief, low self-esteem, envy, jealousy, shock, pain, dejection, melancholy, sorrow... and ten thousand other negative emotions omitted.
The plane cruised at an altitude of ten thousand meters. Although they weren’t in the cockpit to experience it firsthand, they could tell from the window that the flight path was erratic.
It could be described as completely haphazard, as if the plane were just flying around randomly in the sky.
If they hadn’t seen Yvonne Lowell and Nina Jennings sitting there as calm as ever, and if Zachary Jacobs hadn’t still been in the cockpit, they would have thought the plane was out of control or being hijacked by a traitor.
Finally, after more than eight hours, the plane passed through layers of thick fog and landed smoothly on the airstrip in Apeiron.
As soon as they stepped out of the cabin, they saw two rows of guards in combat attire standing below, with several cars parked nearby.
When the guards saw the three people walking in the center, they immediately bowed respectfully in unison and said with one voice,
"Young Master, Young Miss, Third Young Master."
