The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 224 - 223: I Know This One
Yvonne Lowell’s thoughts sifted through her entire treasury, but she couldn’t find a single suitable item.
’Peerless treasures? What a joke. I wasted so much money, and all I bought were things that are neither useful nor good-looking. Completely worthless.’
The Peerless Treasures: That’s not what you said when you bought us! That’s not what you said when you fought tooth and nail for us! That’s not what you said when you were throwing hundreds of millions to get your hands on us!
Yvonne Lowell thought for a moment and decided to ask Nina Jennings for her opinion, so she placed a video call.
She wasn’t actually sure if Nina would pick up. After all, it was still daytime in Country M, and Nina was likely holed up in her lab.
That woman never brought her phone into the lab when she was running experiments, claiming she needed to prevent the thirst-trap muscle men on short video apps from corrupting her mind.
Fortunately, the call was answered almost instantly. Yvonne Lowell’s phone screen was flooded with a sea of mint green.
Then, a slender hand pushed the mint-green blob back, revealing Nina Jennings’s face.
’Tsk, she dyed her hair again. Is she really not afraid of going bald?’
Nina Jennings flashed a toothy grin at Yvonne Lowell. "Hi, Yvonne! Miss me?"
"You’re not in the lab?" Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow.
"Nah, I’m pretty much done. I just have to go in today to wrap things up, and then we can move on to clinical trials. So, what’s up? What do you need?"
Nina Jennings didn’t believe for a second that Yvonne Lowell would call her out of the blue just to have a friendly chat.
Leo Grant: Who? Who’s talking smack about me? What’s wrong with just chatting under the covers?
Yvonne Lowell sighed. "My handsome man’s birthday is in a week, and I still have no idea what to get him."
Nina Jennings slapped her thigh and gave Yvonne a suggestive grin. "I’ve got this! Just buy an extra-large gift box, wrap yourself up in it, and give yourself to him. See? Simple!"
Yvonne Lowell looked up at the ceiling, speechless. She wished she could slap the version of herself from a few minutes ago who had decided to make this call.
She knew that with Nina Jennings’s way of thinking, she wouldn’t get any normal suggestions.
Seeing her silence, Nina Jennings got even more excited.
"But you absolutely cannot wear normal clothes. You have to wear something special, you know... You know what? Forget it. I’ll just send you a few outfits another day.
"When he sees it, forget being moved to tears—he’ll be ready to give you his life."
"Stop. I’m being serious," Yvonne Lowell said, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
It was just a birthday gift. How did it suddenly devolve into NSFW territory and "I’d-die-for-you" drama?
"Tsk, I am being serious! Really, trust me, this gift is a guaranteed success! If it doesn’t work, you can come find me anytime."
Nina Jennings thumped her chest, full of confidence.
Yvonne Lowell pressed her temples. "I’m hanging up. I’ll figure it out myself."
"Hey! Don’t! I can be serious, alright?!" Nina Jennings quickly protested. "What about all the treasures in your vault? Is there really not a single thing you want to give him?"
Yvonne Lowell just stared at her without saying a word.
Nina Jennings got the message and pouted. "Fine, so your man is particular. Since nothing you already have will work, just make him something. It only takes you, what, half an hour to draw up a design sketch? A week is more than enough time to create it."
Make something... A custom design...
A glint appeared in Yvonne Lowell’s eyes. "Thanks. Remember to keep this a secret. I’ll treat you to dinner next time."
Without waiting for a reply, she hung up.
On the other side of the ocean, Nina Jennings was left staring at a black screen, stunned. Then, her furious roar echoed throughout the lab.
"Lowell! Who the hell wants you to treat them to a meal! If you’ve got the guts, give my lab some more funding!!!"
...
Yvonne Lowell had no idea that on the other side of the ocean, a small, lonely, and helpless little girl’s heart had just been gently shattered. And even if she did, she wouldn’t have cared.
After hanging up, she sent a message to Ruby. Then, without waiting for a reply, she went to take a shower.
When she came out, she didn’t see Leo Grant in her room.
Figuring he wouldn’t be over so soon, she decided to go downstairs for a bottle of orange juice and brainstorm some design ideas.
But the moment she reached the top of the stairs, she froze.
Seeing the scene below, Yvonne Lowell couldn’t help but twitch her lips. ’Did a thief break in while I was in the shower?’
’And a thief who, instead of stealing, brings tens of millions’ worth of gifts???’
On the living room sofa downstairs sat a pile of suits in dust bags. Next to them were several large suitcases and storage boxes, and a man playing on his phone.
Heh, who else could this "thief" be?
Hearing footsteps, Mr. Grant, the thief, looked up and saw his girlfriend standing by the staircase railing.
The lines of his face softened instantly. He walked over to meet her. "You’re done showering? I came in just now and saw you were still in the bathroom."
Yvonne Lowell jutted her chin toward the pile of "stolen goods." "What’s all this?"
"My clothes. Didn’t I tell you this afternoon? It was a bit of a rush, so I just had them pack a few outfits to bring over. I’ll bring more another day."
Yvonne Lowell was stunned for a second. When she had returned that afternoon, she’d had someone come over to clean Tidalview.
Back then, Leo Grant had asked if he could leave a few sets of clothes at her place, to stay over from time to time.
Although she was skeptical about his definition of "from time to time," it wasn’t the first time they had shared a bed, so she had agreed.
But... he called this pile of clothes, large enough to stock a market stall, "a few outfits"? And he was going to bring more?
"So what do we do with this now? Just leave it here?" Yvonne Lowell’s expression was complicated as she looked at the chaotic mess.
Leo Grant raised an eyebrow. "Aren’t I waiting for the lady of the house to decide?"
"Put it in the walk-in closet, where else?" Yvonne Lowell rolled her eyes at him. "And you’re organizing it yourself. I’m not helping you."
"Of course. I had Ian Lynch and the others just bring it to our door. I’ll handle it myself from here." Leo Grant cupped her face and planted a big kiss on her cheek.
Operation: Bed Invasion, success!
After helping him move all the luggage into the hallway, Ian Lynch and Silas Lynch happily made themselves scarce.
Yvonne Lowell leaned against the doorframe with her arms crossed, watching the man organize his clothes in the walk-in closet.
After a moment of thought, she typed out a message and sent it to Silas Lynch.
Yvonne: [How does he usually spend his birthdays?]
Silas Lynch replied quickly: [Miss Lowell, if he isn’t busy, the President usually has lunch with his elders and then goes to Comet at night for dinner and drinks with Eldest Young Master Lowell, Young Master Crawford, and the others.]
Yvonne: [Thanks. Keep this a secret, or you can say goodbye to your future wife. [death smile]]
Silas: [Rest assured, Miss Lowell, I’m on your side!!]
With his affirmative reply, Yvonne Lowell deleted the chat history and put her phone away.
