The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 218 - 217: Devouring Superpower

’This Old Biddington is actually a Poison Element Superpower User?!’

Leo Grant sensed something was wrong the moment Brown began manipulating the toxins in the air.

He was about to mobilize his own superpower for a preemptive strike to neutralize the threat, but Yvonne Lowell quickly pressed his hand down.

He turned his head and saw Yvonne Lowell watching the expanding cloud of gas with casual ease, her tone carrying her unique brand of wicked arrogance.

"We each get one. This one’s mine. Don’t you dare fight me for him."

The moment she finished speaking, Yvonne Lowell shot her hand up, her five fingers spread wide and aimed at the pouncing cloud of gas.

The dark purple toxic gas seemed to accelerate as it lunged forward. But before Brown could even rejoice, everyone watched as the gas rapidly dissipated the instant it touched Yvonne Lowell’s hand.

Everyone present, including Leo Grant, stared at the scene in utter disbelief. ’It can’t be what I’m thinking, can it?!’

’Isn’t that just a legend? I must be seeing things!!’

Refusing to believe it, Brown gritted his teeth and increased the output of his superpower again.

But he tried several more times, and each attempt, which started with high hopes, ended in dismal failure.

The two of them remained in a standoff, one standing and one sitting. It was as if a conveyor belt was operating between them, continuously feeding Yvonne Lowell streams of toxic gas that grew progressively fainter.

Brown’s face grew paler and paler, and beads of sweat trickled down his forehead.

He couldn’t comprehend this woman’s bizarre actions, nor could he figure out what superpower she was using to block his Poison Element.

But he could clearly feel the superpower within him draining away at an accelerated rate. It wasn’t just his spiritual power being consumed; his own Poison Element superpower was disappearing, filling him with a growing sense of panic.

Finally, the "conveyor belt" shut down for the day. His last delivery—ahem, no—the last cloud of toxic gas he had used for his attack completely dissipated.

Risking the complete exhaustion of his spiritual power, Brown tried once more to summon his superpower.

But he couldn’t find that feeling anymore. It was as if he’d become impotent for life. The superpower he had been proud of for most of his life had vanished completely from his body!!!

It was as if all the years he’d spent dominating the scene, showing off, and silencing his enemies with his Poison Element superpower had been nothing but a pipe dream.

Now, the dream was over. Brown collapsed limply onto the bed, his eyes still fixed on Yvonne Lowell.

"What... What have you done to me?!"

Only after she had finished digesting the energy she’d just devoured did Yvonne Lowell look up at him, her tone tinged with the disappointment one feels for an underachiever.

"They tell you to read more books, but you just had to go feed the pigs instead. You don’t even know this? What kind of sorry excuse for a superpower user are you?"

Brown: You @#$%*! me? Son of a #$%@!...

◡ヽ(`Д´)ノ┻━┻

"Pfft." Leo Grant couldn’t help but laugh. ’This little devil of mine really knows how to twist the knife.’

Yvonne Lowell shot him a glare. ’Why are you undermining your own teammate? That’s just treasonous, utterly outrageous!’

Yvonne Lowell took a few steps closer to the bed. She raised one hand, palm up, and as she channeled her superpower, a black-purple gas slowly materialized around it.

Compared to Brown’s dark purple, Yvonne Lowell’s black-purple gas appeared far more mysterious and refined.

"Didn’t I tell you I was here to get a gift from you? Well, here it is. I really like the welcome gift you gave me, thank you! Here, I’ll even make a heart for you with the gift you gave me."

As she spoke, the cloud of toxic gas actually transformed into the shape of a heart, bobbing up and down in her palm.

Leo Grant: ’Holy crap! A Transformers version of the Poison Element superpower! My girl is so awesome!!!’

Brown: ’Thief! Bandit! Robber! Shameless bitch!!!’

Onlookers: ’We absolutely will not scream! Please don’t kill us!!!’

Unfortunately, Yvonne Lowell couldn’t care less about their reactions. Like a child showing off a beloved new toy, she moved the heart-shaped cloud closer to Brown’s face.

"See? My color is so much prettier than yours. A B-rank little scrub like you shouldn’t be messing around with a special superpower like this. After all, as the saying goes, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Wouldn’t you agree I have a point?"

"You... You’re a devil! A demon! Evilness!"

’How did this woman manage to take his superpower for her own?! And what’s more, her control over it is several times better than his ever was!!’

Brown’s breathing became increasingly ragged. Finally, he couldn’t catch his breath, and his eyes rolled back as he fainted.

Just before he lost consciousness completely, he thought he vaguely heard the she-devil say something.

"Cole, you can come up now. I left him with just a breath of life for you."

Yvonne Lowell waved her hand casually, and the gas around her instantly dissipated into the air.

She turned, ready to gloat a little, only to find Leo Grant standing there with his hands in his pockets, watching her with a half-smile.

"Sweetheart, isn’t it about time you cleared up some of my confusion?"

Yvonne Lowell rolled her eyes irritably. "Stop pretending. As if you don’t already know."

"You know I’m not asking about that," Leo Grant said, staring straight at her.

Single-ability superpower users were already rare; in his entire life, he hadn’t met that many superpower users in total.

He had only ever met two Dual Ability Users: himself and his girlfriend. Multi-ability users were even more unheard of.

But now it turned out his girlfriend wasn’t just an ordinary Dual Ability User—she was holding an entire treasury of superpowers?!

’Is she kidding me?! Does she really think she’s some kind of bandit chief?!’

This couldn’t help but remind him of the medicinal bath she had prepared to awaken Warren Lynch’s superpower. He had witnessed Warren’s agony firsthand. And that was when Warren had already been on the verge of awakening his power naturally, yet it was still that painful.

’What about her, back then? Did she also have to suffer immensely to obtain this legendary ability?’

At this thought, Leo Grant’s expression darkened even more.

Being stared at like that made Yvonne Lowell feel inexplicably guilty. She stepped forward and hooked her finger around his. "Ahem, Cole and the others are probably on their way up. We can talk about it on the sly when we get back."

Leo Grant took the opportunity to wrap an arm around her waist, leaning close to her ear. "Alright. We’ll go back and have a nice, long, ’secret’ talk later."

Yvonne Lowell: ’...Why do I sense a murderous aura? Why am I even more flustered now?’

Just then, the sound of steady footsteps came from outside the door, and a group of people led by Cole walked in.

Cole shot a cold glance at the old bastard on the bed, then waved his hand. "Take him away alive. Clean up all loose ends."

The elite squad that had followed him in sprang into action, but they froze when they saw the four refugees in the corner, who were shaking so hard it looked like they were tap dancing.

’Do... do these count as loose ends?’

Leon looked at Yvonne Lowell with a questioning gaze. "Ma’am, what should we do with these people? Do we let them live?"
