The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 164 - 163: In a Relationship?
Continent N, Moonshadow HQ.
A helicopter landed steadily on the manor’s helipad, kicking up dust and sand.
Yvonne Lowell had just jumped out of the cabin when Alan Knight strode over to greet her, his long legs covering the distance quickly. His eyes were filled with reverence.
"Lowell, you’re finally back!"
"Mm, I was bored, so I thought I’d drop by." Yvonne Lowell stuffed her hands into the pockets of her trench coat and started walking toward the manor’s main building.
Yvonne Lowell hadn’t told anyone about her return this time, except for the Four Knights.
She had also ordered many rare and expensive flowers and plants to be planted along this path. Since the helipad wasn’t far from the main building, she always chose to walk back, lest she accidentally ruin her precious little flowers.
Hearing this, Alan Knight’s lips twitched. ’I knew it,’ he thought. ’This hands-off boss of mine would never show up at Moonshadow for no good reason unless she was utterly bored out of her mind.’
As she passed the training grounds, the members who were training froze on the spot when they saw her face, their eyes wide as saucers.
When they snapped out of it, they started devolving, letting out sharp, explosive shrieks.
"It’s the Boss!"
"Boss, you’re finally back!!"
"Boss, we all missed you so much!!"
The shouts were so loud that people inside the building could hear them and came running out. In an instant, the entire Moonshadow HQ burst into life.
But everyone was disciplined. They didn’t swarm her. Instead, after shouting their greetings, they watched from a distance.
"Hello, Boss!!"
"The Boss is even more beautiful!!"
"It’s been too long, Boss!!!"
Yvonne Lowell wasn’t the oldest person in Moonshadow, but they all called her "Boss" with unwavering devotion.
Nearly every member here had received a favor from her or the other two elders. This was especially true for the core management team—every single one of them had been pulled from the mire by Yvonne Lowell herself.
In the beginning, none of them could have imagined that it would be a girl, several years their junior, who would give them a new lease on life.
Not only did Yvonne Lowell give a home to those who had been trapped in desperate situations, but she also taught them many things they had never encountered before.
To them, Yvonne Lowell was their boss, their savior, their mentor, and, most importantly, the brightest light in their lives.
Yvonne Lowell’s mood was quite good. She raised an eyebrow. "Is all this really necessary? It’s not like I’ve been gone that long."
The words had barely left her mouth when Alan Knight’s slightly resentful voice sounded by her ear. "The last time you came back was in March of last year. That was almost eleven months ago, which rounds up to a year. Besides, during that time, Felix and the other two got to see you. I’m the only one who genuinely hasn’t."
"Ahem, that’s because you were busy, wasn’t it? With great power comes great responsibility. Also, that’s some nice rounding. No more rounding from now on, got it?"
Yvonne Lowell patted his shoulder, then looked at the crowd. "Alright, everyone get back to what you were doing. I won’t be leaving right away this time."
"Yes, ma’am!" Having gotten the assurance they wanted, everyone quickly returned to their posts.
Yvonne Lowell walked into the main building and glanced around. Not seeing who she was looking for, she asked, "Where are they? Back up on the mountain?"
The mountain behind the manor also belonged to Moonshadow. To prevent her little pets from losing their wild instincts, they would occasionally release live chickens on the mountain for them to hunt.
Alan Knight was about to answer when a massive golden creature charged toward them.
"ROAR!" ’You’re back, poop-scooper!!!’
The Leogryph retracted its sharp claws and rushed forward, intending to throw its paws over Yvonne Lowell’s shoulders.
Yvonne Lowell stood her ground, letting it rest its paws on her shoulders, but said coolly, "Don’t lick my face. If you dare, you’re done for."
The Leogryph sullenly retracted its halfway-extended tongue. ’So stingy.’
’Tch, fine, I won’t lick you. What’s the big deal?!’
’I was just hot and wanted to stick my tongue out to cool off. It’s not like I was actually going to lick her face.’
Yvonne Lowell grabbed the two heavy paws on her shoulders and casually flung them to the ground.
As it happened, she threw them in the direction where Alan Knight was standing, startling him so much that he immediately dodged to Yvonne Lowell’s other side.
The Leogryph shot the coward a disdainful look, then lowered its head and started rubbing against Yvonne Lowell’s leg.
’Damn it! Is it looking down on me?! No way, I have to tattle!!’
But as soon as he looked up, he saw that the expression on the young woman’s face beside him was exactly the same: pure disdain.
"You’ve known him for so many years, don’t you know his temperament by now? He doesn’t bite or eat people. What’s there to be afraid of?"
Alan Knight was speechless. ’...?!’
’Yeah, but... this big guy has such double standards! Ever since that incident, no one can touch him except for you. He even has to bathe himself!’
’Do I dare touch him?! No, the question is, do I dare let *him* touch *me*?! What if he accidentally bumps into me and then takes it out on me?!’
Alan Knight felt wronged. Alan Knight was upset. Alan Knight didn’t dare say a word.
So, he chose to answer her previous question instead. "Big Bear went up the mountain to hibernate and hasn’t come down yet, but we’re monitoring his vital signs 24/7, and everything is normal. As for Luna... she’s on the mountain too, though she comes down occasionally. Also, it seems she’s found a boyfriend."
’Moonshadow is like a safari park,’ Alan thought. ’I have no idea how the Boss gets all these predators of different species to coexist so peacefully, let alone be so obedient to her.’
Yvonne Lowell sat down on the sofa, her expression unreadable. "A boyfriend? What do you mean?"
"Well... at some point, a North American gray wolf appeared on the mountain. We checked the security footage and found that it came over from the western mountain last month, and it cleared our perimeter fence directly."
"About half a month ago, the cameras caught Luna fighting with it, and then... well... anyway, recently, Luna hasn’t been coming down the mountain except to grab some food occasionally. That gray wolf is always with her, but it just waits at the perimeter and has never entered the manor grounds."
’My heart went cold. I was only gone for a little while, and my precious, snow-white little daughter had been snatched away by some punk Blondie?! She’s only two! An absolute animal!!’
’My little girl has probably already got pups on the way. Does this mean I’m going to be a grandmother at the tender age of twenty?! Heh, who can top that?!’
*Luna: Mom, open up, I’m back from messing around! And I brought you a son-in-law and a whole litter of grandpups! I guarantee they’re all cute!!*
Yvonne Lowell sighed. "Forget it. I’ll just think of it as gaining a live-in son-in-law. Let me know when he comes down. I want to go meet this ’Blondie’ first. Also, tell the vet’s office to be on alert. A wolf’s gestation period is about 63 days, so by my calculations, the due date won’t be more than two months away."
"Yes, ma’am." After a pause, Alan Knight added weakly, "Boss... Luna’s husband is a gray wolf. Shouldn’t he be ’Grayie,’ not ’Blondie’..."
"Get lost! You think I need you to tell me that?!"
