The Grey Rat's Demon Path
Chapter 350 - 298-299: Kunpeng Sells Treasures, Demon Palace
Chapter 350: Chapter 298-299: Kunpeng Sells Treasures, Demon Palace
A colossal palace, so tall it pierced the clouds, appeared before the two Demons.
Several characters shimmering with a treasure-like light floated in mid-air.
Kunpeng Palace!
The characters were not the common script of the Cangyu World, but the writing of the Ancient Demon Race!
It wasn’t just the writing. In the Great Realm, the language used for communication among all Demons was the ancient tongue of the Demon Race.
However, both Xu Chang’an and Chu Xianyi possessed powerful Demon Senses, allowing them to communicate freely.
"We’re here! The Kunpeng Palace!"
Chu Xianyi gazed at the enormous palace before them.
"Let’s go in."
Xu Chang’an said, walking toward the main entrance with Chu Xianyi.
A great many members of the Demon Race were coming and going through the palace’s main entrance.
But they were all extremely orderly, showing no signs of chaos.
The ultimate reason for this was the dozen or so Demons with special insignia standing guard at the main gate.
The Kunpeng Demon Army!
The Kunpeng Palace was an enterprise under the name of the Kunpeng True Immortal, so it was naturally guarded by the Kunpeng Demon Army!
Xu Chang’an was well aware of this.
Those who could join the Kunpeng Demon Army had a Cultivation of at least Mid-stage Void Refining!
In terms of combat strength, they far surpassed others of the same Realm!
Inside the Kunpeng Palace, the number of Demons was immense.
Contrary to what Xu Chang’an expected, no attendant Demon came up to greet them.
The moment he and Chu Xianyi stepped into the Kunpeng Palace, the light of an Array descended upon them.
An exceptionally pleasant female voice reached their ears.
"Welcome, fellow Daoists, to the Kunpeng Palace. Please use your Demon Sense to indicate the purpose of your visit!"
Looking at the lines of text that appeared before him, each indicating a different service.
Xu Chang’an sighed in admiration.
"Truly worthy of being a Great Realm!"
"Shall we sell some resources first?"
Xu Chang’an glanced at Chu Xianyi.
Chu Xianyi nodded lightly in agreement.
Their Demon Senses made a selection, and the Array’s light flickered faintly.
HUMMM—
Xu Chang’an and Chu Xianyi vanished from the first floor of the Kunpeng Palace.
In just a flash, Xu Chang’an and Chu Xianyi appeared on the fifth floor of the Kunpeng Palace.
According to the information in the Jade Scroll, the fifth and sixth floors of the Kunpeng Palace were dedicated to purchasing items.
Spirit Plants, Spirit Medicine, Elixirs, Arrays, Demon Patterns, Spiritual Treasures, Puppets...
All sorts of resources, anything one could think of, could be sold here.
The Kunpeng Palace had an excellent reputation, so there was no need to worry about any dramatic or unsavory incidents.
However, compared to the Commerce Treasure Pavilions outside, the Kunpeng Palace’s purchase prices were slightly lower.
Some members of the Demon Race, seeking to maximize their profits, would choose to sell their resources at other Treasure Pavilions within the Demon City.
In doing so, there might be some risks involved!
The choice was a matter of personal preference and risk tolerance.
The space within the Kunpeng Palace was extremely vast; a single floor was easily over a thousand feet high.
It was high enough for even some massive Demons to reveal parts of their true forms.
Lining the perimeter of the palace were partitioned rooms, with an Array above each indicating whether it was currently occupied.
Every Demon could take a numbered token, and when their turn came, a projection from the Array would display their number.
A multitude of Demons with diverse appearances gathered on the fifth floor of the palace.
Some had taken human form but retained some of their demonic features.
Some had transformed completely into human form.
And there were others who had manifested their true forms, their bodies immense.
"Let’s go to the sixth floor."
Xu Chang’an said.
The resources he wanted to sell were quite valuable.
Both the fifth and sixth floors of the Kunpeng Palace were places that purchased items.
But the resources purchased on the sixth floor were far more precious than those on the fifth.
Xu Chang’an had quite a few rare resources on him.
Things like the Tier Seven Alchemy Inheritance and the Array True Understanding were treasured inheritances that only Harmonization Demon Race members should possess!
Such resources naturally had to be sold on the sixth floor.
There was an Array Pattern to get from the fifth to the sixth floor.
By activating the Array Pattern, one could be teleported a short distance to the sixth floor.
Beside the Array stood a male Demon with a cyan pattern between his eyebrows.
He had a Mid-stage Void Refining Cultivation and was a member of the Kunpeng Demon Army!
Just as Xu Chang’an and Chu Xianyi approached the Array Pattern, the male Demon blocked their path.
"You both know the rules, I assume!"
Xu Chang’an nodded.
To enter the sixth floor of the Kunpeng Palace, one had to present an item they intended to sell.
The guards would then judge if the item was valuable enough to grant entry.
Xu Chang’an took out a Jade Scroll from his Storage Bracelet.
This particular Jade Scroll recorded the Tier Seven Alchemy Inheritance.
The male Demon unleashed his Demon Sense, and after a brief assessment, he acknowledged the value of Xu Chang’an’s item.
He gave Xu Chang’an a surprised look.
Early-stage Void Refining!
"To possess a Tier Seven Alchemy Inheritance with such a low Cultivation... you’re quite lucky!"
The Great Realm was filled with slaughter and chaos, but it was also teeming with all sorts of opportunities.
Clearly, he had mistaken Xu Chang’an for just another lucky Demon.
The male Demon then turned his gaze to Chu Xianyi, who was standing beside him.
Chu Xianyi didn’t say a word, simply taking Xu Chang’an’s arm.
"We’re together."
Xu Chang’an said with a smile.
"Go on up!"
The male Demon nodded.
Standing on the Array Pattern, Xu Chang’an glanced at Chu Xianyi, who was holding his arm. He felt the soft, full curve against his arm and a strange feeling stirred within him.
The strange feeling wasn’t because of the physical contact; Xu Chang’an had more self-control than that.
What truly unsettled him was how natural Chu Xianyi’s actions were.
Her gesture, it was as if...
As if she were truly his Dao Companion!
Looking at the cold and expressionless Chu Xianyi, Xu Chang’an thought to himself.
’Is it just my imagination!?’
The Array Pattern flashed with light.
HUMMM—
Xu Chang’an and Chu Xianyi appeared on the sixth floor of the Kunpeng Palace.
There were far fewer Demons on the sixth floor of the Kunpeng Palace than on the fifth.
According to the rules of the Kunpeng Palace, to sell items on the sixth floor, they had to be worth at least three thousand Spirit Crystals.
An ordinary Spiritual Treasure was only worth about twenty Spirit Crystals!
One could only imagine what a value of three thousand Spirit Crystals represented.
An ordinary Void Refining Demon Race member might not be able to accumulate such a fortune even after millions of years.
After all, as long as one was cultivating, their expenses would never be low!
Furthermore, the Great Realm was chaotic. Without the strength and status to match, a vast fortune alone was something one might not be able to protect.
There were several Crystal Stone Platforms in the palace. Xu Chang’an placed his hand on one and received a numbered token.
After glancing at the number on it, Xu Chang’an moved to the side to wait quietly.
It was at this moment that Chu Xianyi, who was beside him, casually let go of his arm, her expression perfectly natural.
Xu Chang’an looked at Chu Xianyi with a half-smile.
Chu Xianyi’s expression was composed, as unshakable as a mountain.
She placed her own jade-like hand on the Crystal Stone Platform and received a token made of jade.
He had wanted to tease the Peacock King a bit, but seeing her reaction, Xu Chang’an thought it wouldn’t be any fun.
He scanned the surrounding Demons and found that he couldn’t discern the Cultivation of most of them.
They were at least at the Mid-stage Void Refining Realm!
Some Harmonization Demon Race members didn’t bother to hide their Cultivation, their auras radiating outwards.
There were also some Demons who wore jet-black medals on the outside of their robes.
They were Demon Fiends!
The information in the Jade Scroll contained illustrations detailing the classifications of Demon Fiends.
Xu Chang’an noticed that there were Flying Monster-level Demon Fiends, Yingzhao-level Demon Fiends, Iron-Cracking Level Demon Fiends, and even Shangyang-level Demon Fiends around them.
Although it was said that anyone who entered the Void Refining Realm could apply for Demon Fiend certification and become a Demon Fiend after passing a trial mission.
However, over countless years, in order to control the number of Demon Fiends, the trial missions had become increasingly difficult. An ordinary Void Refining Demon Race member had no hope of becoming a Demon Fiend.
Even the lowest-ranked Flying Monster-level Demon Fiend required the Cultivation of an extremely strong Mid-stage Void Refining expert.
An Yingzhao-level Demon Fiend signified an exceptionally powerful expert among Late-stage Void Refining Demons.
Iron-Cracking Level Demon Fiends were almost all Harmonization Demon Race members; only a very small number of Late-stage Void Refining Demons with exceptionally terrifying Talent Divine Techniques had a chance of passing the certification.
As for Shangyang-level Demon Fiends, they were powerhouses even among the Harmonization Demon Race!
On the sixth floor of the Kunpeng Palace, there were only a handful of Shangyang-level Demon Fiends.
When the surrounding Demons looked at them, their eyes were filled with reverence and awe.
’The Demon Palace!’
Xu Chang’an thought to himself.
Once he devoured the Spiritual Treasure, accumulated enough Energy, and broke through to Mid-stage Void Refining.
Then he would go into seclusion to devour the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure Spirit, and after that...
He would go to the Demon Palace and get certified as a Demon Fiend!
He hadn’t forgotten that the opportunity in Thunder Beast Kuiniu Wanqi Zhengxian’s grotto-heaven was on the Blood Rock Land.
Traveling between the Kunpeng Land and the Blood Rock Land was easier said than done.
But with the cover of a Demon Fiend identity, he could accept a Demon Fiend mission and travel to the Blood Rock Land with a team, which would obviously reduce the difficulty immensely.
’Soon, very soon!’
Xu Chang’an didn’t have to wait long before the number on his token was displayed above one of the partitioned rooms.
"Peacock King, this emperor will go on ahead!"
Xu Chang’an gestured to Chu Xianyi and then walked toward the room.
