The Goddess Made A Mistake Again

Chapter 548: Rules Seperate A Man From An Ape

  • Next Chapter

As Henry finished listening to the introduction, dug another look at the two very variant yet categorically similar people.

Rizer and Ginny as if noticing his gaze, did the same. Both giving off completely different aura than anyone here. Except for Arthur, who had the most insane, gracious aura, lacked in comparison to them.

Henry own aura was firm as the opposing invisible auras clashed. Only Arthur, who felt a tiny semblance of the clash, tightened his face.

‘I am so far away from them.’ He looked up at Henry, noting the difference. ‘Even Henry… no, he had always been leagues above since the moment we met. If only he had a genuine character… the help he could provide would have been great for the kingdom.’

Arthur shook his head of it, ‘I must become stronger! Fast! Henry is not my friend… and not too far away from becoming an enemy one day.’

While the Novel’s Original MC, made another mountainous promise, Henry had a completely different train of thought.

‘Those two are completely different from everyone here. Even the third-year girl doesn’t come close to them. Forgetting Rizer – A Final BOSS; The Pink Gyaru, Ginny is like a wolf in a sheep’s clothing.’ Henry thought as his eyes ‘gazed’ through her flesh and felt the abundant amount of power brimming to evaporate.

‘Her mana is so great that it even dwarfs Rizer’s. That level of mana itself makes her a Pseudo-Final BOSS. Who knows what she’ll become when she gets control of the strength inside her.’

‘It’s nowhere exaggerated to say that they can slaughter most of the competition by themselves, alone. Of course, that is excluding me, Arthur for obvious plot purposes and maybe one or two people in this 45th Valere if my facts are still correct.’ He didn’t completely trust his knowledge as he, himself has deviated the plot in many ways.

‘Man… why do I like abnormal girls so much?’ He thought in self-deprecation. ‘First Alice, then Abigail, Marva, Marika, Margaret, Arthur’s Mother… though, she is the only gentle soul amongst the line-up alongside Anna… and now Ginny.’

Henry saw the infatuation for Rizer in Ginny and shook his head, ‘Nothing good comes from women with an infatuation over people like Rizer – Cold, Arrogant and Single-minded.’

‘…Oh, wait a second! There’s also Jennifer, …that woman has some strange kinks.’

Henry got back to reality and saw everyone else just packing their weapons, but they weren’t trying to wear any protective clothing nor did their weapons have any speciality.

No Anti-Manic Armour or High-Quality Armour?

Not even Mid-Quality?

“Why aren’t you lot wearing any armour?” Henry asked.

Xavier was about to prattle, yet instead he had a questioning look as he returned with a question, “I should be the one asking, Why are you wearing armour?”

“Ha? Isn’t that obvious, to protect my as-” Henry changed his words as the third-year who seemed like to reprimand him about mannerism, “To protect my buttocks from enemies… and anyone else.”

He did not mention Ginny’s name, yet everyone in the room definitely understood.

His answer only seems to confuse the arrogant red-haired boy. Arthur beside him spoke up, “Henry, do you not know that we are not allowed to wear armour in the Valere?”

“What?” Baffled by Arthur’s words, he stammered, “What kind of stupidity is that? Are they intentionally increasing the death ratio?”

“Hah! Are you seriously telling us you do not know about it?!” Seeing Henry looking actually confused, Nylah Pole covers her face with her palm, her words a quite whisper, “Just when I think I am fortunate enough to enter the Valere, the substitute they assign me does not even know the rules.”

Nylah quickly straightens herself, fixing her glasses as she gave a sharp look to Henry.

“Listen up! Since, we barely have time I will make this quick.” She continued, “This year’s Valere, which is the 45th one, had a brief change of rules. From which, you only need to know 2 noteworthy ones.”

“1. The Participants are not allowed to wear any kind of armour or special accessories. They will wear the provided uniform made for this specific event. The uniform itself is a form of armour; it provides significant protection while remaining agile for the wearer.”

Henry raised his hand, to which Nylah already answered, “It is so that the rule provides fair play for every participant by adjusting their clothing. So, that none can top others by wearing special high-quality armour nor through status or money.”

Henry’s brow furrowed as he lowered his hand. He looked at the High-Quality Anti-Manic Armour on his chest and almost cursed out the words in his mind.

“2. The Participants are not allowed to use their own weapon or Sigmat Weapons. Of course, they can use any of the various types of weapons provided by the Valere, though they cannot use multiple weapons of different style. Only one type of weaponry. Dual Handling is approved. This is pertaining to the previous rule, to give a safe but appropriately challenging environment to everyone.”

‘So, I can’t even bring this brick with me.’ Henry took the sword from his back and placed it beside his locker. Suddenly, his eyes widened at a thought, he raised his hand again.

“What about Sigmat Rings? Are they banned as well?”

“Obviously not.” Nylah fixed her glasses as if Teacher Nylah was giving a ‘lesson’. “What will be the point of an event as large as this if we cannot showcase our sigmat abilities?”

“Well, at least some shit is-“

“But, as you should know, we are only allowed the rings that is registered.”

“…”

“…”

“…”

“Don’t tell me? …You did not bring your registered ring.”

“Well, not so much didn’t bring it as much as not having one… registered.”

Nylah sighed as everyone had a look as if ‘Henry were an ape’. “I… I can’t deal with this.”

“Henry…” Arthur looked shocked, yet not so much.

“And they brought him as the third-year substitute.” Xavier snorted and turned back around.

The twin brothers, one gave a silent shake of his head while the other looked astonished and couldn’t believe if it was a joke or not. Rizer still couldn’t fathom this man had withstood his power… was it an illusion? And Ginny gave a devilish laugh, pointing her fingers at him as twirls swings heartily.

It was true. Henry hadn’t registered any rings.

It was a form that every student has to fill-up to register their sigmat rings for various kinds of activities. It was necessary but not obligatory as most of the activities happened in the academy and they didn’t care what kind of ring the students wore on campus grounds, as long as they didn’t use it for any nefarious purpose.

It wasn’t that Henry forgot to register, he intentionally didn’t do it.

The Registry may seem like a good thing, but it was also a way to trap students in a binding contract that limits their use. For example, if a student had registered his sigmat ring that he regularly uses but later in a future match, won a fair fight using a different ring, then the supposed match would become invalid and he will lose. Like such, in any other event they have to use only the same registered ring for the entirety of their academic life.

Of course, they can re-register a different ring anytime.

Henry didn’t care to change it, since he had too many rings of various types and grades which he changes very often and also because the academy didn’t cared about it before.

As always… Karma’s being a bitch again!
