THE GOD EATER

Along the way, Money Body and Nether Flame didn’t say anything. Loki didn’t mind this and was content with being quiet, but the last one in the group had something she wanted to say.

She said with some fear in her voice, "Was that a dragon?"

Nether Flame nodded at her. He didn’t speak, and his expression was grim as he nodded, but this only made his silent answer more impactful.

The metal cube unfurled like a flower spreading its petals. And just like an ordinary flower, buzzing bees came out of it.

However, the bees were anything but normal. First of all, the buzzing sound that the wings of the bees made was different from what normal bees made.

The bees sounded like the static of radios and televisions. The buzzing bees were also made out of metal.

The outpost core produced tens of thousands of bees. Loki counted them and discovered that they were exactly 91 thousand bees.

The bees surged out of the metal flower into their surroundings, revealing the crystal gem at the center of the outpost core. This crystal gem was white, and it was opaque like stone.

The metal bees first went around surveying the surroundings. Whenever they found a material that they found useful, they would settle down on the material to eat it.

They would eat anything they found useful, no matter how hard it was. They would also call other bees to join them in harvesting the useful material.

This way, whenever a bee found a useful material, the material would soon be covered in bees gnawing at it. The number of bees eating the useful material would only increase over time.

The bees wouldn’t stop coming to eat the useful material until the material had been completely eaten. This turned out to be less than a minute in most cases.

After they were done eating the useful material, the metal bees would return to the outpost core. Then the bees would regurgitate what they had eaten onto the white gem.

The white crystal gemstone would absorb everything that was regurgitated. It would use the absorbed materials as nutrients to grow bigger. As more bees fed it, the white crystal became bigger and bigger.

While this was happening, the will of the world wasn’t idle. The will of the world didn’t know what they were doing on the island or had any clue what they hoped to achieve with the metal flower, but whatever it was that they were up to, the will of the world wasn’t about to let them succeed unopposed.
