THE GOD EATER

While the fusion and ignition of the Life Fire were going on, the attention of the whole world was on Loki. If he succeeds, they will see him ascend into the sky. But if he fails, they won’t see him. They will only see the golden pillar of light fade away and disappear.

Loki is certain of success since he has already completed the necessary changes needed to become a divine being. Fenrir had already made him a divine being, so what he needs is a Life Fire from this new Divine Position, and he will be set.

However, his chances of success don’t depend on only him. There are other factors that will determine the success of the endeavor, and the outcome of the discussion of the divine beings is the most direct external factor.

Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer called out to everyone through the divine constellation, saying, “Whose project is this?”

He was a bronze-skinned man who looked to be carved out of bronze. He looked like a statue, but aside from this, there was nothing else odd about his body and its proportions.

Monarch Floating Furnace heard his question and sneered as he said, “Why are you asking?”

Monarch Floating Furnace, on the other hand, was very weird. This divine being was a humanoid flame. The fire wasn’t burning across his body. Instead, he was the fire.

Without any hint of shame, Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer replied to the question, saying, “I’m asking because this Divine Metac looks compatible with me. I want it.”

Monarch Machine Body said sarcastically, “How straightforward of you. But aren’t you being greedy here? You already have two Divine Metacs.”

Monarch Machine Body was also fully humanoid. But every part of his body had been replaced by metal.

His appearance wasn’t like Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer, who was also metallic. Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer was one whole bronze statue, while Monarch Machine Body was pieces of metallic objects working together.

Monarch Machine Body was pieced together by levers, pistons, gears, and bellows. So he looked like clockwork or other kinds of sophisticated machinery.

He is a rank 6 divine being, while Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer is rank 7, but he didn’t hesitate to call his superior greedy. As it turned out, many other divine beings agree with him.

Other divine beings that agreed with Monarch Machine Body, also called Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer, were greedy for wanting a third Divine Metac. But Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer didn’t care about what they thought.

If any of them were the rank 8 divine being of his pathway, he would have taken their opinions seriously and given up on the idea immediately. But all of them were rank 6 or rank 7 cultivators like him.

Since he knew that the rank 8 forger in their sect already possessed three Divine Metacs and was unlikely to come after him for a fourth Divine Metac, he felt safe about going through with his plan.

So he said, “That’s how I am. I am straightforward with my greed. If you have a problem with my greed, you’re welcome to try and teach me a lesson to be content.”

His words caused a loud discussion to erupt among the divine beings. Not only were the divine beings of the Forge Pathway talking, but even the cultivators in the other pathways of the Five Directions Sect were talking about it. The discussion even spread to the other sects.

Throughout it all, Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer didn’t care about what they were saying. He just kept saying, “Who sponsored this project?”

That’s what he wanted to know. But no one spoke to give him the answer he wanted.

When no one replied, he chuckled and said, “Don’t worry. I won’t take it for free. I can give you another Divine Metac in exchange. It is even a rank 7 one, so you won’t lose out by giving me this rank 6 one.”

His offer was tempting, and it got a lot of divine beings talking. Everyone also became curious to know how this new Divine Position had appeared and wanted to know who had helped Loki acquire the heart of the world.

They asked each other, but no one knew Loki, and no one could provide information about how the new Divine Position had been created. This lack of information was frustrating, but it was not frustrating enough to make them spend some of their lifespan on the matter.

For many of them, this was a good moment to give up on trying to acquire more information about Loki. But for a few adamant divine beings, this was just a moment to prove their sincerity by spending some of their lifespan to find more information.

Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer was one of the few who were willing to spend some of their lifespan to use the divine constellation to see how this new Divine Position had come to be.

They expected some resistance from Loki blocking their attempts to learn about him, but they didn’t encounter any resistance. It was as if he had given up on resistance.

Without any resistance, they saw Loki bring out the heart of the world from his Cave Heaven. Then they saw him pass through the world barrier. Beyond that point, there was only darkness.

The darkness in Loki’s records was weird, but they didn’t bother with that because they saw the golden flame on top of his head as he did these things. All of these confirmed that Loki was a divine being before he created this new Divine Position.

Monarch Craftsman’s Hammer didn’t recognize who Loki was because Loki didn’t look like any forger or divine being that he had ever seen. But he didn’t think there was anything wrong about this because divine beings like to keep to themselves for years on end, and because he didn’t care about Loki’s identity.

What mattered to him right now was that what he saw through the divine constellation had answered some of the questions that he had about how the new Divine Position was created. So he didn’t bother with anything else.
