THE GOD EATER

Chapter 556: A Little Peek.

Loki’s actions put the swordsman in a corner. He became desperate, so he said to Loki, “You have to give me a way out, or I will not let you gain anything.”

In response, Loki smiled and said, “What do you suggest?”

He replied and asked a reasonable question as if he was seriously considering the offer. But he didn’t stop rushing towards the core of the world at all.

In fact, he seemed to have become faster. So not only did he not stop to negotiate, but he appeared to want to reach the core of the Cave Heaven much earlier than expected.

The swordsman saw this and said, “Stop, and I’ll give you half of my Cave Heaven.”

Loki nodded and said, “That sounds good. But I also want one of your Divine Metacs.”

This was literally asking for half of his life, as losing one Divine Metac meant that he would lose half of his strength. When the loss of half of his world is also factored in, he will only have 25% of his strength left.

But as painful as this was going to be, the swordsman still said, “Fine. You have a deal. Now swear on your Divine Position with the will of the Blessed Heaven World as the witness.”

He had already conceded a lot, but Loki refused to stop. Loki was still rushing for the sun in the sky.

This made him shout and say, “What are you doing? We have an agreement. What more do you want?”

Loki simply smiled innocently and replied, saying, “I just want to see what the core of your Cave Heaven looks like. It will just be a peEk.”

He said what he said as if he were making an innocent request. But this only made the swordsman angrier.

The swordsman would have definitely become angry had Loki made his intentions clear by saying he wanted to assimilate everything.

But by understating the implications of his request and making it in a jovial tone, the swordsman felt humiliated, which made him angrier than he would have been otherwise.

So the swordsman shouted at him and said, “Fuck you.”

Then he detonated his Cave Heaven.

As Loki watched, he saw the sun in the Cave Heaven go out. Then cracks spread outward from where the sun should be to every corner of the Cave Heaven.

The cracks were in the very fabric of the space of the entire Cave Heaven. They caused the whole Cave Heaven to splinter and shatter. Even the large continent was fragmented into pieces.

When Loki saw this and sensed the two tracking marks return to him, he realized that the swordsman had destroyed everything in the Cave Heaven, including the two Divine Metacs. He was furious, but he didn’t let his anger delay him from what needed to be done.

He quickly unleashed the devouring force field and used it to sweep through the collapsing Cave Heaven. The black blanket was used like a net sweeping through the ocean to catch fish.

He ran up and down through the collapsing Cave Heaven, devouring everything he could find. He didn’t bother to assimilate any of them because the Cave Heaven had broken into ten thousand pieces, and he didn’t want to waste time trying to absorb a single piece into his world.

All in all, he spent eleven minutes doing this. Then he changed his appearance before leaving the void and returning to the second heaven.

On his way back, he said to himself, ’The good news is that I killed him thoroughly and gained something from the debris of the Cave Heaven to show for the fight. All in all, I got more lifespan than I used in the fight.’

’On the other hand, the bad news is that I only got scraps. What I gained from the fight is definitely less than what I would have gained if I had accepted to take half of his Cave Heaven and one of his Divine Metacs.’

When he reviewed everything that had happened, he sighed and thought to himself with a pitiful tone, ’It is truly a pity that so much went to waste. Maybe I should have accepted his offer. If only I hadn’t been greedy for the whole thing, I might have gained more than the scraps I was able to recover.’

’I guess I will have to do better next time. Maybe at some point, raiding divine beings will become easier. But for now, divine beings seem more difficult to plunder than worlds.’

He is sure that if he had been fighting a world, not a divine being, the will of the world wouldn’t have committed suicide. This is because the will of the world is the entity he knows with the strongest will to live.

According to his experience, the world will do its best to live until the very end when it can no longer live. Never will the will of a world consider suicide.

Even when the world has been captured by a stronger world and has its world king killed by a being it can’t hope to defeat, the will of the world still won’t lose itself to despair and will make its world guardians continue to fight for the liberation of the world.

A divine being, on the other hand, can behave drastically differently. In the case of this sword cultivator, when he realized that he was surely going to die and that everything he had would go to his killer after his death, he decided to kill himself and destroy everything he owned.

In the case of the world that he defeated, he would have gained the whole world, which he would use to expand the size of his Cave Heaven, and gained the heart of the world, which he could eat to gain some lifespan.

He could have gained lifespan, law fragments, and an increase to his Cave Heaven from that fight. But because of the spite of the swordsman, he only gained some law fragments and some lifespan.
