Chapter 385: Talking Tree.

There was no one in the direction that he fired the laser into. There were only some harmless-looking trees. But he seemed so sure that there was someone there and fired the laser at one of the trees.

The laser struck the tree and punctured a large hole through its trunk. The hole wasn’t clean and smooth at all. It was rough and lined with red lightning. Cracks also spread from the hole into the tree trunk.

This made him say, “Impressive tree. A normal tree would be ashes right now.”

What he got in reply was a roar of pain. A tree was roaring in pain, but it didn’t surprise him because of what he was seeing through the Power Identification Ability.

He didn’t just stumble onto the fact that there was a mimic there through the Power Identification Ability by luck. He knew that there was a mimic there and had used the Power Identification Ability to confirm what he suspected.

Right from the moment he saw the golden crown lying there unattended, he was sure that the tree in the distance was a mimic because he had planted a marker on the deceiver during his first attempt at chasing them.

So as the tree transformed back into a shadowy figure, with a large wound on his chest, Loki wasn’t surprised.

He even smiled and said, “Where is your friend? Why don’t you call him over to help you?”

The deceiver gritted his teeth as he said, “Fuck you.”

Then he turned around to run. But another red laser struck him in the back.

He fell to the ground, unable to stand up again. He didn’t even move as the red lightning spread all over his body, ripping him into shreds. When the red lightning was done, there was only a pile of ashes arranged into a humanoid shape on the ground.

Loki saw this and said, “Why bother trying to escape? You’re going to die anyway. So I was doing you a favor by killing you quickly and putting you out of your misery.”

Then he looked into the far distance and said, “What a pity about your partner, though. He doesn’t seem to be willing to risk his life for yours.”

He had also planted a marker on the seer, so he knew that the two of them had been hiding nearby. With this knowledge at his disposal, he was able to tell that their plan was to let the world guardians have a go at him before they jumped in to add to his problems and worked together with the guardians to kill him.

The plan was on track to work even when he trapped the guardian of water beneath him. This was because he needed to consume a massive amount of energy to keep her trapped in her water cylinder.

But their plan derailed when the guardian of lightning tried to sneak an attack on him. The guardian of lightning was fast, but he couldn’t sense mental fluctuations like the guardian of light, so he didn’t see the trap that Loki had laid out for him.

Loki had also planted a tracker on the two guardians, so he knew when the guardian of lightning was approaching him quickly. Fortunately, all he needed to set up the Mental Freeze was a single thought, so by the time the guardian of lightning got close to him, the trap had been laid.

From there, their plan fell apart. Two guardians became one, so their chances of overwhelming him with the guardians fell by more than 50% since the guardian of water was already trapped.

But what finally killed the plan was that the seer ran away after seeing him use a mental attack to incapacitate the guardian of lightning.

Even though he had eliminated the guardian of lightning, the seer and the deceiver could have still joined the fight and might have achieved something by doing so. But their plan stood no chance whatsoever when the seer gave up and ran away for his dear life.

The deceiver didn’t understand how he had easily captured the guardian of lightning and didn’t know that the seer had chosen to retreat disgracefully. He also didn’t know that Loki could find him, so he continued to hide.

Since one had already chosen to escape, Loki didn’t want the other one to escape. So he shot the tree that the deceiver was pretending to be.

Now that both potential sources of distraction had been eliminated, Loki decided to focus on the guardian of water. As he turned to look at her, he said to himself, ’Since the seer is already gone, I can end this quickly.’

After saying this, he activated the Mind Network Metac. His target was the mind of the guardian of water.

He hadn’t used this earlier because he was trying not to spook the seer. Unfortunately, he still spooked the seer when he took the opportunity to neutralize the guardian of lightning.

Since the harm had already been done, he felt free to use his Mind Hunter abilities. Unlike his bullets and lightning that her water could block, her water couldn’t block mental abilities. So he was able to gain access to her mind without any issues.

She also couldn’t sense mental fluctuations, as she isn’t the guardian of death, the guardian of light, or the guardian of nature. So she was completely oblivious about the incoming danger.

She continued to stubbornly hold on while glaring at him. In return, Loki stared at her with a slight smile on his lips while he planted Mind Bombs in her mind.

She could escape now by turning her body into elemental water and sinking into the ground. This is something that flashed through her mind as she thought about escaping. But she didn’t choose to escape because the will of the world was urging her to fight.
