Chapter 354: Truthsayer.

His Life Ability is why this three-eyed man is behaving as if he designed the tunnel system and knows its every secret. It is why he is catching up to someone even though that person had a head start on him.

Eventually, the person he was pursuing reached a dead end and couldn’t go any further. So he was able to finally meet them.

Even before he reached the dead end, he could see the light of a torch coming from around the corner. So he didn’t need to have special eyes to know that there was someone around the corner with a torch.

In order not to spook the other person, he said, “I come in peace. I hope we can talk.”

His words should have sounded strange to the other person because he was speaking in a strange language. But by using his mental world to communicate with the mind of the other person, they could understand what he was saying.

And when the other person spoke, they spoke in a sing-song manner with a language that he had only heard recently and had never learned. But he was able to understand everything they were saying because of his third eye.

The person snorted and said, “And why should I believe you? Why should I believe the words of an invader?”

He replied, saying, “Because I am different. I can tell the truth apart from lies, and I can’t tell a lie.”

Only the first claim about being able to discern between the truth and lies is true. His claim that he doesn’t lie is a lie. If he couldn’t lie, he wouldn’t have lied like that.

As he was speaking, he reached the edge of the current passage. If he moved further by a single step and took the turn to the right, he would walk into the dead end where the person he was tracking had ended up.

His goal seemed so close to him, but he didn’t take that last step. He stopped just at the edge of the turn and was content with speaking from there. After all, the other person surely couldn’t run away anymore.

After his grand claim that he doesn’t lie, the other person scoffed and spoke in their singing voice, saying, “You don’t lie? You say that you can tell the truth aside from lies? What do you take me for? Do you think I am an ignorant chick?”

Despite the immense disbelief of his claims, he smiled and said, “Why don’t you test me?”

The other side didn’t speak. It seemed that they were not interested in entertaining him or going along with whatever he was on about.

So he decided to take the initiative. He did this by saying, “Listen carefully and point it out when I am lying.”

“Your name is Third Curly of Grant. You were given that name because you were the third of your litter and had curly hair on your head that refused to be straightened, no matter how much effort your mother put into straightening it. Grant is the name of your family.”

“At three years of age, you discovered your calling to be the calling of sound. Then you began training for your calling every day of your life from then on. Your dedication to your training was unparalleled, and because you had some talent, you progressed quickly.”

“You became a novice at three, an adept at 8, and an elite at 28. This was very fast, but you got injured in a fight, which delayed your training. But you didn’t quit. You kept training even when everyone told you to give up.”

“You mastered your calling of sound at 45 years of age. That made you eligible to receive the attention of the will of the world.”

“Seven years later, a world guardian died, and a competition of masters was held to replace the position of world guardian. After partaking in that competition and finishing first, you received the favor of the will of the world and became a world guardian.”

“In the 71st year of your life, the world king died. So the world guardians competed for the position of world king. But you lost that competition to the young upstart named Red Jumpy of Folks.”

“You were bitter because of the loss. So you decided to give up on training to start a family. You went to get a wife and bought a house in which you settled down.”

As he spoke, scenes of the other person’s life flashed through his vision. This was where he was getting the information that he was saying.

But this person didn’t appreciate his ability. They snorted as they interrupted him rudely, saying, “That’s enough. What’s that supposed to prove? Is all that you want to prove to me is that you did your research about me?”

“You have said nothing that no one knows. Everything you said is publicly available information about me. You could have asked anyone on the street to tell you these things, so your ’so-called truths’ are not impressive to me.”

This made him chuckle before saying, “If that’s what you think, why don’t you ask me for something that only you could know?”

He was full of confidence as he asked this question. The other person didn’t know this and went ahead to take the bait by saying, “Who did I have a crush on when I was four years old?”

When he heard this question, he smiled and said to himself, ’Got him.’

He is happy because he has ensnared this person into his rhythm and made them believe that his ability to find answers is equal to his ability to always speak the truth.

The fact that they didn’t ask why asking him for a secret would prove that he can’t lie proves that they believe his claim somewhat. Now, all that remains for him to do is to stick the landing and reinforce this belief.
