Chapter 286: Stealing Technology.
Chapter 286: Stealing Technology.
Their destination was a place where a small world had crash-landed into the heavens. This small world looked like a large gem. The material that made up its surface was green, but this material was also transparent to a certain extent, so what was inside the gem could be seen from outside of it.
After they arrived, the airship stood some distance away from the gem and waited. As it turned out, they were waiting for the other sects to arrive before the battle for control of the world could begin.
Already, three sects had arrived. They were the Four Directions Sect with their airship, the Martial Body Sect with their sky whale, and the Myriad Phenomenon Sect with their large floating mat. The remaining two sects were yet to be seen.
The sight of the transportation of the two sects drew Loki’s attention, so he examined the sky whale and the floating map for a bit. His gaze didn’t dwell on the sky whale for longer because it made more sense to him.
He didn’t know that there were powerful and large feathered whales capable of flying. But now that he was seeing one, it made sense how the sky whale could be used for transportation.
It made further sense that the Martial Body Sect, a sect that abhors technology, would rely on riding on an animal for transportation. So the sight of the burly giants and tattooed men in the back of the sky whale wasn’t as interesting as a floating mat to him.
The floating mat was an actual carpet. It was very large and could hold more than a hundred people. But what intrigued him was how they made the carpet capable of flying.
He stood there on the deck, looking at the team from the Myriad Phenomenon Sect and wondering how the flying carpet was made for a while. As it turned out, he wasn’t the only one doing so.
Many people on the airship were also looking at the floating mat. Most of these people were forgers, which was not a coincidence.
It is the inherent nature of forgers to wonder how various kinds of technology work and to admire good machines. But the people of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect didn’t appreciate that the forgers were admiring their technology.
The fact that a lot of people from the Four Directions Sect were checking out their ride drew the attention of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect. This was inevitable since the people from the Myriad Phenomenon Sect had glared at them as soon as they arrived.
They were glaring at the airship, so they were bound to notice that some people on the airship were staring at their mat. Since they didn’t have any good feelings for the Four Directions Sect in the first place, it was also natural that their reaction to being stared at wouldn’t be good.
One of them sneered as they said, “Look at these country bumpkins staring at our mat. They’ve probably never seen something so good before.
Without missing a beat, another person scoffed and said, “They are probably trying to figure out how to steal the technology from us. After all, they are a sect of thieves.”
A third person said in disdain, “They can steal it if they can, but I doubt they can. They don’t have a single ounce of talent when it comes to technology. Not even their wannabe forgers have the mental resources, intelligence, and talent to steal it.”
Even one of their rank 5 cultivators joined in. She smiled as she said, “Why waste time talking to these losers? They are all going to die anyway.”
As she said this, the glowing mark on her head flared brightly. Even though she was smiling, the eyes with which she stared at them were cold and full of killing intent.
She looked like she wanted to kill all of them immediately, which was likely to be the truth. But clearly, since she couldn’t do that now, she would have to be content with ridiculing them first.
What she said made the rank 4 cultivators on the mat laugh. They praised their senior sister while they continued to ridicule the people from the Four Directions Sect.
It was truly a scene of harmony and unity. The people of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect didn’t look afraid of their rank 5 cultivators at all. All of them were smiling and laughing as they made fun of the Four Directions Sect.
Loki saw this and said to himself, “I’m not surprised, to be honest. Even from the little I know, I know that these people are full of themselves.”
Right from the early days of his cultivation, he heard from Muni that intelligence is the main qualification for gaining access to the Myriad Phenomenon Sect. Muni had also said that their Dao Heart refining technique is the best one.
So now that he was seeing them carrying each other with pomp and looking down on him, he didn’t find it surprising. What he found surprising was the harmony between the cultivators and the lack of fear.
He had never seen this kind of harmony in the Four Directions Sect. It made him wonder if their rank 5 cultivators don’t eat weaker cultivators and if their divine beings don’t try to get rid of the rank 5 cultivators with the same Life Ability.
He was also curious about other things about the Four Directions Sect, so he decided to ask them about it. He decided to start with the most important thing that he wanted to know, so he raised his voice and asked his question.
He said, “I want to know. How was the Forging Pathway stolen?”
He was sincere with that question, but the question itself stabbed their hearts like a knife and made all of them fix their eyes on him.
None of them knew how the Forging Pathway was stolen. They don’t even remember when the Forging Pathway used to belong to their sect. Only their divine beings remember such a time and might know how the pathway was stolen.
