But reading Loki’s mind wasn’t like reading a book and he didn’t need to turn pages, going through them, one by one. Instead, it was like it toughed the whole book into its head and digested every bit of information instantly.

What it saw in Loki’s mind baffled it, though. It went through Loki’s memories againg just to make sure it didn’t miss anything.

“I saw everything. He absorbed the Supreme Metacs he acquired into his Divine Spark. He even used another Supreme Metac inside your godhead to break his oath.”

“There is also that time he fused Supreme Metacs in his godhead and upgraded them. They are shoddy work without the support of the Dao Source and are unlikely to support a godhead, but it is still impressive.”

“He did those things, and I saw him do them. But why doesn’t he even have memories of those events? What is in his Divine Spark that he is bringing Supreme Metacs in and out of?”

“This is strange,” the guardian said in his mind, frowning.

Then it smiled and said, “It is also interesting. It seems my true body will have a reason to take action after all.”

For a brief moment, Loki saw the guardian smile and speak in his mind. Fear surged through him, and he started to panic. But he quickly forgot what he saw and returned to normal.

A few seconds later, he reached his destination and dropped out of the River of Time. He dropped to the version of himself standing in formation with other initiates.

It was very early in the morning, and the sun had just risen. The air was still cold, yet 100 men and women stood in ten rows of ten on a large open field.

They stood on an open grass field some distance from buildings. All 100 wore white robes with a four-pointed star insignia on their chests.

In front of them stood a man with black hair, black eyes, fair white skin, and blue robes. His robes also had the insignia of a four-pointed star on his chest.

The man’s eyes were unfocused, and he was looking at something unknown far into the distance as he said to them, “I am Muni. I will be the one to initiate you and turn you into tools fit for the Four Directions Sect.”

He said in that same detached voice, “But before we proceed with the awakening ceremony, I must ask you something very important. What are you willing to do to achieve your goals?”

On the other side, the mind within the spark of power was panicking.

“What the hell was that? Am I screwed?”

The world had fallen into darkness and nothingness, but he didn’t care. All he cared about was the eye he saw following him into the River of Time.

He knew the eye was abnormal when it suddenly appeared in the inner world of his body and walked side by side with the Devouring Supreme Metac into the River of Time. His suspicions were confirmed when the part of his mind within the Devouring Supreme Metac didn’t notice.

The mind within Fenrir had always been his puppet. Ever since he met the guardian and learned to mask his thoughts, he had used the mind within Fenrir as a puppet.

The mind within Fenrir was freshly created the first time he ascended, so it didn’t have memories of his past and only knew what he wanted it to know.

Most of the time, he made the other copy of his mind do things without giving it a reason. The copy also wouldn’t question why it was doing strange things.

This was exactly what had happened when he saw that eye. He made the Devouring Supreme Metac deploy its Main Divine Ability and produce a black force field that encapsulated the eye.

Fenrir didn’t know why it was suddenly activating its Main Divine Ability, or that something was enhancing his power with 2,109 units of divinity. He also didn’t notice the black force field sweep through the eye and do nothing to it.

But the mind within the spark of power noticed, and it reminded him of something he had experienced before. The way his attack failed to affect the eye reminded him of what happened when he attacked Astra. Just like then, it was like he punched nothing.

Unfortunately, he could only watch the eye leave with his godhead.

“Is that eye another Astra? It looked and behaved like Astra, so it could be Astra.”

“Did he send another avatar to deal with me, or is that his true body? That guy is truly a blight on my existence.”

“Anyway, no matter how persistent he is, I will defeat him. In fact, I have been looking forward to this moment for a very long time.”

“I even have the tool to defeat him,” he said with confidence.

After regaining his confidence, he decided to return to reality. It wasn’t as if there was much of an option either.

He couldn’t do anything else in this darkness, and he couldn’t stay here forever. He had to return at some point, and now it seemed like a good time to do so.

So he hopped through the darkness, fusing with various versions of himself through time or hyperspace. He still wasn’t sure about that.

His mind wasn’t on what this empty space was anyway. Instead, he was thinking about his upcoming fight with Astra or another copy of Astra.

“It could also be another being like Astra,” he thought. “But what are the odds of that?”

He chuckled and tossed the idea aside, partly because he didn’t want to believe it and partly because a being like Astra would have taken over his body and targeted the spark of power directly, instead of going after his godhead.

He considered this possibility as he found a version of himself in a viable timeline. When he fused with it, he returned to his body.
