Chapter 1257: The Devourer Series.

The Devouring Body Supreme Metac and its ability to grant him the power of the beings he eats gave him the idea that he could use it to make up for discarding the elemental Metacs. But he couldn’t use it directly as it was a Supreme Metac, so the first step was cutting down its 3-D form and crippling it into a 2-D version.

During the process, he had to cut away a lot of abilities and features of the original. But he tried to maintain the core characteristics that he was interested in. The core being its ability to take the power of what it ate. However, how much power could be gained from eating and how that power could be used had to be changed.

The 2-D version of the Devouring Body Supreme Metac he created wasn’t as powerful as the original, since it couldn’t take the form of a celestial weapon acting as an external source of power. It would need to change the user’s body directly, the way he changed his body with the body-refining Metacs of the Forging.

Back then, he had changed his body to iron, titanium, and diamond with Branch Metacs. This 2-D Devouring Body Metac needed to be combined with the 2-D versions of the Devouring Ability and could change the user’s body directly into what they eat.

So Devouring Body Metac working with Fire Devourer Metac or Iron Devourer Metac would grant the user an elemental body of fire or a physical body of iron.

When he saw the result, he nodded in satisfaction and said, "Now this is what a Devouring Pathway should look like."

He was satisfied with the Devouring Body Metac, so he didn’t hesitate to place it in the Supreme Metac. Finally, he removed some of the redundant 2-D versions of the Devouring Ability. When he was done, he took another look at the Supreme Metac’s structure.

He removed the Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Wood, Poison, Light, Darkness, and Lightning Metacs. Then he replaced them with 2-D versions of the Devouring Ability.

With this change, the Devouring Supreme Metac looked like this.

He had removed the Copper Devourer, Silver Devourer, Gold Devourer, Iron Devourer, Titanium Devourer, and Diamond Devourer. Next, he replaced them with the Earth Devourer. Finally, he added the Poison Devourer, Darkness Devourer, Light Devourer, and Lightning Devourer.

With this arrangement, he had 12 2-D versions of the Devouring Ability and one 3-D version, so he could speed up the rate of acquiring conversion efficiency in the Supreme Metac by 12 times. But he still wasn’t satisfied.

He felt that there were more opportunities, so he removed the Tracking Metac, Seal Metac, and Siphon. Then he replaced these three with the Mind Devourer, Energy Stones Devourer, and Spirit Devourer.

Removing these Metacs and Abilities from the Supreme Metac meant he couldn’t use them until they were returned, and his disciples wouldn’t have access to them. But he wanted to prioritize his growth speed, so he made the sacrifice with only a little hesitation.

’They are Divine Metacs anyway. They don’t produce much power compared to the Main Divine Ability and won’t raise my strength much even if I keep them. So it is better to exchange them for faster cultivation speed,’ he thought as he finalized the changes.

Even so, he wasn’t satisfied. In no time, he thought, ’Since I’m not using the Hunting Form Metac yet, I should temporarily replace it with a 2-D Devouring Metac.’

’Yes, that’s a good idea. I’ll use the World Essence Devourer as a temporary replacement. When I advance and double the size of Fenrir, I’ll have more space to use the Hunting Form Metac again.’

He hadn’t established a sect yet and didn’t have disciples to tempt with the Domain Power System. Plus, he would need to build a divine artifact before he could set up the Domain Power System.

Instead of spending time setting up something he didn’t need immediately, he decided to spend the time and effort to speed up the rate of acquisition of conversion efficiency.

If not for the fact that he needed the Power Identification Ability to show mortals the increase in lifespan and convince them to join his sect, he would also replace it temporarily.

There was no risk of danger or losing out, so he began directing his avatar to act like a clueless fool in the divine constellation of the Blessed Heaven World. Then he had the avatar descend into the lower realm, causing Black Chain and the other Dao Lords to follow him.

What happened next was a slaughter. Every avatar that descended, whether they went there to kill his avatar or not, was captured by Loki and auctioned away.

Meanwhile, in the upper realm, Loki’s true body got to work pursuing conversion efficiency. First, he activated the Main Divine Ability.

Outwardly, upon activation, the Devouring Divine Ability created a black force field around his body. The black force field formed a three-dimensional sphere of darkness around him.

Inwardly, the Devouring Divine Ability initiated the appearance of a longitudinal wave within the Supreme Metac. The wave had many peaks and troughs, which were good to look at. But for the purpose of conversion efficiency, the appearance of the wave was bad.

Its appearance was so bad that he winced and said, "It looks like it is having a seizure."

The large wave had 27 peaks, which represented the 27 units of divinity. The trough between these peaks represented the delay in activating each subsequent divinity for power output.

For the Supreme Metac to have a 100% conversion rate, it needed to have only one peak and two troughs. That is, the wave should look like a single mountain peak, indicating that all the energy, divinity, and power of the Supreme Metac were mobilized at the same time.

Right now, the waveform resembled the surface of a pond undulating up and down. That is, different parts of the Supreme Metac were being activated at different times, creating many peaks in the waveform.

To eliminate the undulation, he had to combine all of the peaks in the waveform into one single waveform. The best way he had found to do so was to raise the amplitude of one peak by sacrificing the energy state of the other peaks to it.

He did so by aligning the divinity with the Hunting Form Metac. The Hunting Form Metac was very good at this because he could use it to activate a single part of the Supreme Metac and siphon all of the Supreme Metac’s potential into that part.

Unfortunately, the Hunting Form Metac’s power and size were too small, so it had a limit on how much help it could provide. It could only activate and combine 3 units of divinity, making it woefully unsuited to achieve 100% efficiency.

So the Hunting Form Metac could combine only 3 of 27 peaks in the wave. Because of this limit, the Hunting Form Metac could only achieve 10% efficiency. But he had now found a better way to achieve 10% and more.

His new idea was to shorten the waveform’s wavelength as much as possible. That is, he decided to eliminate the gap between the peaks until they combined into one solitary peak.

To do this, he activated the one 2-D version of the Devouring Ability, the Flesh Devourer Metac.

On the outside, nothing seemed to have changed. The Flesh Devourer also created a black force field. But the force field melded and fused with the previous black sphere around him, making it look like nothing had happened.

Inside, the Flesh Devourer created a small wave with three peaks. He tweaked this small wave and moved it around within the Supreme Metac until it aligned with the large wave formed by the Main Divine Ability.

When the small wave and large wave aligned, three of its peaks became one. Then he pushed the three peaks toward each other, shortening the gap between them and the wave’s wavelength.

This looked easy, but it was far from it. He wasn’t moving the waves directly. Instead, he moved them indirectly by changing how the divinity that produced them generated power.

The best way he could describe the relationship between the wave and the divinity was with the relationship between the transistors in a computer’s computing unit and an image on the screen.

Producing an image depends on how the transistors switch on and off and how 1s and 0s are processed. In the same way, the appearance of the wave is dependent on the process of activation of the units of divinity.

When the user moves an image on the screen, the action will look simple on their end. But within the computer, a myriad of changes, going into the millions and billions, might have taken place in the computing unit.

In the same way, every single change in the waveform had to be initiated through myriads of changes in the divinity. But unlike that user, he couldn’t just align the waves on the screen. He had to make the changes in the computing unit himself manually.

A single mistake in the order of the divinities could warp the waves or crash them. So aligning the waves and fusing the peaks wasn’t easy at all. But being able to see the waves helped immensely.

By seeing the outcome of his work, he could easily make changes to improve the output. But this was just the start.

He activated another 2-D version, the Blood Devourer, and created another small wave. First, he aligned the two small waves, fusing the peaks at their edges.

Each small wave had 3 peaks. But after alignment, they now had 5 peaks, not six. Then he aligned the 5-peak wave with the large wave by superimposing the small wave’s peaks onto the large wave’s peaks.

Thus, 5 of the 27 peaks from the large wave aligned with the small waves. And through the source of the small waves, the Blood Devourer and the Flesh Devourer, he was able to pull the five peaks together.

Of course, moving 5 peaks is more difficult than moving 3 peaks. But he was now doing the work through 2 Metacs, cutting the overall difficulty from 3/1 to 5/2, which is 2.5.

So overall, the difficulty of fusing the peaks decreased. Therefore, in the same amount of time, he would be able to do more work with the two Divine Metacs than he could with one.

To be exact, in the time it would take him to do 1 unit of work with one Divine Metac, he could do 1.2 times as much work. After all, if it would take 3 seconds for one Divine Metac with a difficulty of 3 to do 1 unit of work, in that same 3 seconds, he would accomplish 3/2.5 with two Divine Metacs.

But the best part was that he was now working with 5 out of 27 units of divinity, increasing the achievable conversion-efficiency limit from 10% to 18.5%.
