"It’s the city!"

"We’re safe!"

"Hooray!"

The students were rushing to the city. The commander in charge of the city furrowed his eyebrows. As soon as he saw the students rushing, he immediately gave an order, "Open the gate!"

The gate felt like the door of hope as the students thought they were finally safe.

The instructors were rushing to the city as well.

Some students dropped to the ground as soon as they entered the city, unable to endure all the exhaustion from running away.

Head Instructor Adam shouted, "All students. Make your way to the top of the wall. Our battle is not over yet."

As he said, the beasts caught up to them shortly after. The siren that signified their presence echoed across the city.

"Commander!" Head Instructor Adam immediately met with the commander. "There are more coming. The instructors are still holding back the main beast wave, so order your men to conserve their energy."

"Is it really..." The commander was concerned.

"Yeah. It’s really a Rank 7 beast. We can only hold out until reinforcements arrive. Hopefully, our Rank 7 humans are coming. There’s no way they’re going to abandon these children."

"I hope so." The commander nodded. He immediately sent a message. "All units. Stand by. Conserve your energy and prepare for the big one."

Head Instructor Adam asked, "What about the students? I’m planning to bring them to the east wall, which will take the full brunt of their power, but some students are too exhausted to continue, so I’m planning to send them to the west wall, which will be attacked less. Still, I’m not going to let them retire from the fight yet."

"Understood. I shall inform them about that."

"There’s one more thing. This small beast wave is still quite dangerous. They’re laced with poison. If you get hit, your abilities will be sealed. Most of your soldiers are under Rank 3, so the poison will still be effective against them.

"So, inform them that when they’re injured, have someone bring them to the north wall. I will ask the only person in this world who can cure that poison to help them. I hope that they can still join the fight after that."

"Our soldiers are tough. If there’s indeed such a problem and solution, then we can continue to fight." The commander nodded.

"Good. In that case, I’ll take my position to face those beasts first. As soon as we manage to escape this beast wave, we won’t need to worry about the poison anymore. So, try to eliminate every single one of them as quickly as possible."

"Got it."

Meanwhile, Auric had reunited with the rest of his group. Surprisingly, Timothy and Clarice chose to come to him instead.

"What are you two doing here?"

"What are you talking about? You just used me not long ago, and now you’re pushing me away. You are so cruel." Timothy acted as if he had been wronged.

"..." Auric’s eyebrows twitched.

Clarice simply wanted to make sure she contributed at the same level or even higher than Ellia and Vera, but she didn’t reveal that reason.

"Well..." Auric glanced around. There were seven of them. Meanwhile, Antonio, Nicholas, Theressa, Selena, and Alexander were scattered across the wall.

Auric found Selena useful since she had been healing people all this time, but she would soon exhaust all her energy, so he couldn’t use her on the wall.

Alexander didn’t look like someone who would follow orders. The same applied to Antonio and Theressa. Nicholas preferred to be alone, so he didn’t care about the rest of the star students.

Auric said, "In that case, let’s keep fighting. I’m a bit curious about the strength of a Rank 7 beast."

"True." Timothy nodded in agreement.

None of them continued to chat since the beasts were about to arrive.

There were many turrets on the wall. As soon as the beasts reached a certain distance, they started raining bullets down on them.

The bullets killed a lot of beasts. Some beasts managed to avoid it, but some crashed into each other when dodging the bullets.

Seeing how many beasts died without being able to reach them was definitely encouraging for the students who had endured the worst situation.

The beasts gathered their energy and attacked the wall, but the wall managed to withstand their attacks. Some attacks hit, but the wall could withstand much more damage than this.

In addition, those who had reached the wall tried to climb it, but to no avail. They ended up stacking on top of each other, trying to climb the wall.

Some beasts were strong enough to cover the height with a single leap, but they were rare.

The instructors intercepted them. They couldn’t afford to have these beasts reach the top of the wall yet.

Auric and the others were also attacking from the top of the wall. However, only those who were comfortable with sending ranged attacks could do it. The rest were conserving their stamina until the beasts reached the top of the wall.

The beasts were getting pummeled in rapid succession. As expected, fighting on the wall gave them a massive advantage, especially when there were no flying beasts messing with them.

A few minutes later, they found another group of people heading toward the city.

"That’s..."

"That’s the rest of the instructors!"

"They’re safe?"

"No, wait! What’s with all those injuries?"

"There are only... 50 instructors left?"

There were originally a total of 125 instructors. To evacuate the students, 20 instructors had been dispatched to accompany them. Of course, 10 instructors from Granda joined them.

In other words, there were supposed to be 95 instructors who remained on the front line. Of course, 15 instructors from Granda headed north, trying to intercept the enemies.

Those enemies didn’t just consist of the instructors from Dermania. Some were also from other countries.

In total, about 25 instructors were fighting in the north.

That left 70 of them fending off the enemy.

To their surprise, twenty of them had died. Did they die because of the spies, or did they die because of the beasts?

Unfortunately, they didn’t have time to ask that question. The main beast wave was not far behind them.

Supervisor Jacob leaped into the wall. The others were doing the same. The instructors were strong enough to climb the wall with their own power, so there was no need to open the gate.

Supervisor Jacob shouted, "Get ready! The Rank 7 beast is going to rampage! Where are our reinforcements?"

"What reinforcements? We’re still waiting!"

"Shit." Supervisor Jacob gritted his teeth. "What the hell? Dermania should have reacted faster. Where is your Rank 7 human?"

Supervisor Jacob thought that Ultias would come first, so he sent Mr. Green to protect Auric with his life in case Ultias decided to kill Auric before fighting the Rank 7 beast.

Yet, for some reason, Ultias hadn’t appeared. He was supposed to have been here, ready to intercept the Rank 7 beast.

Then, a few minutes later, Joker would arrive, and both of them could kill the Rank 7 beast and dominate the battlefield.

The fact that there were no reinforcements yet meant they had to fend off this Rank 7 beast until Joker arrived.

Supervisor Jacob had exhausted a lot of his power to hold the main beast wave as long as possible.

If he had to take on this beast wave in this condition, there was no telling how much longer he could last.

Supervisor Jacob glared at Vanessa.

"I know nothing about this!" Vanessa shook her head. "However, I’m going to fight to the bitter end."

Supervisor Jacob gritted his teeth. He looked at Head Instructor Callahan. "I’m with you."

They both knew that Merlin was somewhere nearby. If the situation had truly reached that point, she might intervene directly.

So, it would be best to hold out until Joker arrived.

"Fine. We’ll stop the Rank 7 beast again." Supervisor Jacob felt disappointed by Dermania’s behavior.

The students and soldiers couldn’t help but panic when they saw the approaching beast wave.

The smaller one had been crushed, with only 30% of it still remaining. That meant only about 800 beasts remained.

However, the main beast wave, despite having been thinned down by the instructors, still had about thirty thousand beasts remaining.

Counting the soldiers, the students, and the instructors, there were only about 1500 people. It wouldn’t be enough to face an army twenty times their size, even with everything they had.

This beast wave started launching volleys of attacks at the wall. The instructors were forced to stop the attacks from high-ranking beasts.

Supervisor Jacob looked at the commander and grabbed the commander’s collar. "Is Dermania going to abandon this city? It’s your territory!"

"I don’t know everything. All I know is that air support is on the way. ETA is less than one minute."

Supervisor Jacob clicked his tongue and leaped to the edge of the wall, ready to intercept the Rank 7 ape’s attack.

The commander had received information about the air support. "Requesting air support east of our location. Danger close!"

One drone flew by and shot several missiles.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Two missiles were intercepted by the beasts, but some reached the targets and exploded, blasting a lot of beasts.

Then, the drone continued toward the beast wave and started dropping bombs. A few managed to land as well, but one of the attacks managed to hit the drone, taking it down.

However, it didn’t stop there. Two fighter jets were approaching at high speed. They first sent out their missiles. Their role was to support the soldiers, so they didn’t fly too close to the beast wave to avoid getting shot down.

At the very least, the air support would take some pressure off the soldiers’ shoulders.

Supervisor Jacob still looked dissatisfied. The missiles might be able to affect a lot of low-ranking beasts, but when it came to high-ranking beasts, they would need more than that.

More importantly, the Rank 7 ape remained untouched.

Seeing the fighter jets leave, the ape gathered its power in its mouth.

The tremendous amount of energy caused the ground to tremble.

"Kh." Supervisor Jacob clenched his hands. He was ready to intercept it again.

Auric couldn’t help but suck a cold breath. "So, this is... the power of a Rank 7 beast..."

He could see the tremendous energy and the pressure emanating from it. It was definitely not something he had ever felt before, even when Mathias saved him.

Some students and soldiers were terrified, thinking they wouldn’t be able to stop this.

It turned out that the fighter jets were simply turning around. They had launched missiles to hit the Rank 7 beast.

The Rank 7 beast ignored the missiles and fired that laser.

The three head instructors were releasing their energy at once, but before they could unleash their abilities completely, a small brown light flew from the south and curved to meet the beam.

Bam!
