Chapter 1516: Chapter 962: The Great Battle Approaches (Part 2)
"Abyssal scum! Crawling out of the dark corners like worms! Destroying my homeland! Slaughtering my kin!
"Spreading pain and despair to every corner of the Star Realm! They think they can hide in their filthy nests forever, launching invasions wantonly, while we can only retreat behind the fortress, passively taking the hits?"
Her voice suddenly rose, like a sharp sword unsheathed, carrying the ferocity unique to a Berserker:
"Nonsense! Today! At this very moment! This damned ’still water’ shall boil! This disgusting calm shall be broken!
"Who gave the courage for counterattack? Who ignited the first flame in this abyssal still water? It is us! It is the Night Watchers! It is all the Warriors who refuse to be destroyed, who refuse to be enslaved!"
Her gaze swept over the Night Watcher phalanx, scanned the Avenger crowd, skimmed over Mercenaries and Adventurers:
"Look around you! You are not fighting alone! We gather here, not to only survive! But to tell those damned Demons – their end has begun!"
Raelia abruptly drew the Giant Sword from her waist, pointing its blade towards the direction of the Demon camp, and roared earth-shatteringly:
"Today! We no longer defend! Today! We actively attack! Use their blood to cleanse our shame! Use their heads to pave our path forward! Let these destroyers taste the might of our blades! For Order! For Blood Pit Fortress! Attack!!!"
"For Order! For Blood Pit Fortress! Kill—!!!"
A mountain-echoing tsunami of angry roars erupted instantly, like a volcano suppressed for millennia bursting forth!
The Night Watcher phalanx’s Shields thunderously struck the ground, creating a dull thunder.
Avengers unleashed beast-like roars, with flames of hatred in their eyes completely ignited.
The war cries of Mercenaries and Adventurers also merged in, their bloodthirst ignited by the feverish atmosphere.
As the Blood Pit Fortress formation initiated, the eternal bustling main battlefield at the forefront of Blood War Fortress – the vast slaughterhouse – seemed injected with new fuel, the sound waves of the massacre suddenly surging.
This place has never truly rested.
Even today, on this "special" day, countless low-tier demons, uncontrollable, driven solely by primal destruction lust, wave after wave crashed against the iron defense of the Blood War Fortress like a black tide.
Inferior Demons and Horned Demons, driven by their bloodthirsty instincts, trampled over the corpses of their kind, wielding rusty weapons, hurling meaningless screams, only to crash against the solid Rune Shield Wall of Dwarves, instantly turning into pulp.
The Giant Axe of Frenzy Demons, carrying Hellfire, smashed down, colliding thunderously with the Totem Pole of Minotaurs, the sound of bone cracking deafening.
In the sky, the acid of Winged Demons fell like raindrops, intercepted and evaporated by the precise Arrows of Elf Rangers and the Spell Shields of Mage Corps.
However, careful observation reveals differences.
On the walls of Blood War Fortress, the charging glow of Rune Giant Cannons is denser and more dazzling than usual.
The scale of the attacking Legion is larger, its formation more structured.
The phalanx of Dwarf Shield Guards moves like mountains, Spears stabbing and Warhammers swinging with a more efficient killing rhythm.
The rain of arrows from Elf Shooters is noticeably denser, covering a broader area.
Teams of soldiers equipped with peculiar Alchemy Weapons establish a stronger suppressive firepower network at the back of the line, dense Energy Light Bullets washing over the Demonic tidal wave attempting to climb.
Evidently, the fortress commander has been on high alert.
The troops are executing the plan agreed with Kana, fully diverting the attention of the Demon main forces, creating greater "battlefield noise".
The Blood Pit Fortress formation, like a giant steel gear, begins to roll forward.
The Night Watcher phalanx in the center, Avenger cohorts on either flank like unfurling blades, while Mercenaries and Adventurers fill the gaps and provide flank cover.
Their speed forward is not fast, but extremely solid.
Scattered Demon scouts and roving small units along the way dissolve like snow against the Night Watcher’s precise long-range kills and Avengers’ frenzied pounces.
Soon, in front of the battle formation, no longer lies an empty scorched earth, but a rolling black tide composed of flesh and shells – the Demon vanguard has arrived.
This is a legion mixed with numerous Inferior Demons, Horned Demons, interspersed with plenty of Frenzy Demons and Frold Demons.
They have evidently received some degree of assembly command, no longer purely brainless charges but forming a certain shock front.
"Shield Guard, stand!"
The Night Watcher commander’s voice clearly transmitted through the data link.
The forefront Night Watcher Shield Guards, in unison, slammed their massive Tower Shields heavily into the charred ground, instantly forming a cold Metal embankment.
Amidst the shield gaps, long spears thrust out like a forest.
"Ranged attack, cover strike! Target: demon horde ahead!"
In the rear, the Night Watcher Rangers and Mages, along with some mercenaries equipped with alchemy fire guns, immediately concentrated their fire.
Energy arrows, arcane missiles, and scorching alchemy bullets rained down like a deadly storm, precisely pouring into the demon formation aiming at the massive and most threatening frenzy demons.
In an instant, several frenzy demons, under the concentrated barrage, had their shells shattered, demon blood spurting, whining as they collapsed, causing small-scale chaos.
"Avengers! Pierce the left wing! Hold the right wing!" Raelia’s roar echoed on the battlefield.
The Avengers on the left wing were already unable to hold back.
With the order given, they, like beasts unleashed from chains, led by a hornless minotaur berserker, let out an earth-shaking battle cry, transforming into a torrent of hate and fury, fiercely crashing into the relatively weak left wing of the demons.
The minotaur’s totem pole swept across, smashing several horned demons into pulp.
Some unnamed humanoid race warriors wielded greatswords burning with the flame of vengeance, cleaving a Flo demon in half.
Elf Rangers leaped and maneuvered through the crowd, their curved sabers precisely cutting the throats of demons.
Their fighting, devoid of any order, was filled with viciousness borne of life-and-death struggles and battle-hardened killing techniques.
In an instant, they tore open a massive breach in the demons’ left wing.
Meanwhile, the Avengers on the right, led by an experienced dwarf rock breaker, formed a solid defense line.
With warhammers, heavy axes, and fearless will, they firmly resisted the pressure of the demons attempting to flank on the right wing.
While the main battlefield clashed fiercely, a smaller but highly elite unit, like serpents lurking in the shadows, quietly detached from the Blood Pit Fortress formation.
They were all Night Watchers, equipped to the teeth, moving swiftly like the wind, an elite unit tasked with the "strategic infiltration" to breach connecting lines.
Their objective was clear.
Avoiding the main demon forces and flanks, they plunged straight into the dangerous area known as the "Death Corridor" between the Blood Pit Fortress and Blood War Fortress.
Quickly clearing out entrenched demon outposts, they established defense nodes.
However, the demons were not unprepared.
As soon as the elite unit entered the region filled with ravines and twisted rock pillars, they were ambushed.
"Caution! Shadow demons!"
The elite unit’s captain, a human warrior named Mark, sternly warned over the data link.
Before the words faded, dozens of silent, swift-moving shadows surged from the shadows of scorched rock pillars and ground cracks.
They were slender, their skin like flowing tar, their sharp claws glinted ominously, masters of stealth and ambush—shadow demons.
"Mages! Light Magic! Area cover!"
Mark quickly commanded.
Two half-elf mage apprentices in the unit immediately waved their magic staffs, and blinding white light exploded in the unit’s center like a miniature sun.
The intense positive energy instantly dispelled the shadows, illuminating the shadow demons leaping in mid-air, revealing their true forms with harsh screeches.
Their movements stalled.
"Concentrate fire! Leave none alive!"
Mark yelled, his longsword igniting with holy flames, as he first slashed toward an oncoming shadow demon.
The Night Watchers’ reaction was astonishingly fast.
Alchemy firearms spewed scorching flames, energy arrows shot precisely, and melee fighters’ weapons, imbued with demon-breaking runes, alongside the cover of light magic, formed a crossfire network in an instant.
The shadow demons’ pride in their stealth and speed crumbled before the Night Watchers’ efficient data link sharing and instant concentrated fire.
In just a few seconds, the ambushing shadow demon group was completely cleared, their bodies emitting smoke.
