Chapter 414: Chapter 414

Chenyang’s words were like a whole date shoved down her throat, choking Lin Xiaoyue until her pretty face flushed red.

Lin Xiaoyue had indeed been unconscious at the time.

She hadn’t heard Lin Jiji say she was on the verge of death and not worth saving, nor had she heard the argument that erupted between Chenyang and Lin Jiji over her rescue. She certainly hadn’t felt anyone taking advantage of her. All she vaguely recalled was a sharp pain that quickly faded.

Given this, she wasn’t actually qualified to be a witness at all.

However, she had asked the doctors after waking up in the hospital, and they told her she’d been the first to receive treatment. Afterwards, when she heard Lin Jiji’s account, she learned that he was the one who had argued fiercely with the doctors to save her.

Compared to what Chenyang said, she was naturally more inclined to believe Lin Jiji.

So, after a fleeting moment of embarrassment, she immediately retorted, "I was seriously injured back then, but I wasn’t completely unconscious! I could hear and feel what was going on. I heard you cursing at Lin Jiji, and I felt you touching me."

Hearing this, Chenyang froze for a second before asking with a dry laugh, "Are you sure you could hear what was going on then?"

"Of course, I’m sure!"

"If that’s the case, then did you just happen to miss Lin Jiji saying that saving you was a waste of time and that they should save *her* first?"

"Of course not! And Lin Jiji would never say something like that! I’m his... his friend. He couldn’t have been more desperate to save me, how could he possibly abandon me? Besides, he’s the one who saved me."

Lin Xiaoyue had wanted to say that Lin Jiji was her boyfriend, but mindful of the circumstances, she settled for just saying they were friends.

Her hidden feelings went unnoticed by the others, but Lin Jiji understood instantly. A smug, greedy look flashed across his face.

He’d had his eye on Lin Xiaoyue for a long time and had spent a great deal of effort and thought pursuing her.

If the car accident hadn’t happened yesterday, he probably would have gotten her into bed by now.

He had thought their connection had run its course, but now it seemed he already had a place in Lin Xiaoyue’s heart.

Seeing her defend him so vehemently, it was a clear sign that once this was all over, he could finally get the girl.

At this thought, Lin Jiji immediately gloated at Chenyang, "You hear that? Xiaoyue was there! Her words are obviously the most powerful testimony. With her testifying, how are you going to defend yourself now?"

Chenyang gave Lin Xiaoyue a long look, then shook his head. "She’s your friend. Of course she’s going to take your side. A friend’s statement, forget about here, it wouldn’t even be admissible as testimony in a court of law!"

"You’re full of shit!"

"You’re the one who’s full of shit! A minute ago, when Angie came out to testify for me, you’re the one who fucking said that friends and colleagues can’t be witnesses! So what gives? Angie’s words don’t count as testimony, but Lin Xiaoyue’s do? Since when does Lin Jiji write the laws?"

"I..."

Lin Jiji had been feeling quite smug, but after hearing this, he suddenly felt as if he’d been slapped across the face.

He had said it with his own mouth: Angie couldn’t testify for Chenyang.

And the reason was that Angie and Chenyang were colleagues.

Now, Lin Xiaoyue was his friend, or maybe even his girlfriend. A person in that kind of relationship naturally couldn’t serve as a witness either.

If he tried to argue, he’d just be shooting himself in the foot.

Seeing Lin Jiji suddenly at a loss for words, Chenyang mocked, "Go on, speak up. I thought you were so silver-tongued. Why’d you suddenly clam up?"

Angie chimed in, "Exactly. Isn’t the great celebrity supposed to be so powerful? Why don’t you go ahead and change the law then?"

Lin Jiji shot them a ferocious glare and said, "Fine. So neither Xiaoyue nor Angie can testify on this point. But what about everything else? The photos and videos of you looting and taking advantage of other women have all been shown on the big screen. How can you argue your way out of this one?"

Chenyang turned to glance at the photos on the screen. "Fakes. They’re all fakes!"

"Don’t just pull that shit out of your ass! Lots of people at the crash site took those pictures themselves. How could they possibly be fake?"

"And how would you know they were all taken by people at the crash site?"

"Heh," Lin Jiji’s lips curved upwards. "I knew you’d ask that. To make you confess and face the punishment you deserve, I took the liberty of bringing the people who took the photos right here.

These people have nothing to do with me. They are all from your very own Yang City—people who were in the accident and eyewitnesses to the events. The photos on their phones and cameras are irrefutable proof, and they themselves can serve as living witnesses!!"
