Chapter 382: Chapter 382

Realizing what Yan Rongrong was thinking, Chenyang first met her gaze, then adopted an air of contemptuous arrogance.

Simple rebuttals like the ones he’d just made wouldn’t be enough to flush out the people hiding deepest in the crowd.

He had to be meaner, nastier, than any of them.

The best way was to escalate the conflict and make it look like he was about to get physical.

After all, the ultimate goal of the instigators hidden in the crowd was to get Chenyang to make a mistake, which would then spark an even bigger conflict and a media firestorm.

For example, if they could provoke Chenyang into hitting someone, all they’d need was a video of the assault online, and he’d have one more crime added to his name.

Even if he was cleared of the initial accusations of corruption and exploitation, they could use his unprovoked assault to make him pay a heavy price later.

To put it bluntly, Lin Jiji, who was pulling the strings and instigating from behind the scenes, just wanted to see Chenyang destroyed. In the best-case scenario, he’d just get a beating and have his reputation ruined. In the worst, he’d be thrown in jail, utterly disgraced.

And right now, the best way for Chenyang to flush out the people Lin Jiji had sent was to play right into their hands.

He would give them exactly what they wanted.

Of course, Chenyang wouldn’t actually hit anyone. He’d just use the ensuing chaos to make it easier for Yan Rongrong to spot the instigators in the crowd.

Once she identified them, he could use certain methods to make them tell the truth. Then, this whole mess would resolve itself without him having to lift another finger.

With that thought, Chenyang opened his mouth and started laying into them.

"A bunch of morons!"

"So some random person online claims to be an ’insider,’ and you all fucking believe them? Well, what if I told you I’m an ’insider’ sent to the mortal realm by Qin Shi Huang himself? If you all kneel and kowtow to me, I’ll give you one hundred taels of Gold. Are you going to drop to your knees right now?"

"And another thing—you see a few photoshopped pictures online and you just believe them? By that logic, if I Photoshopped a few pictures of your parents dead, would you all have to rush home for their funerals?"

"Chenyang, you fucking..."

Just as someone, seething with rage, was about to curse him out, Chenyang suddenly cut him off, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "My apologies, I misspoke. With those paste-filled brains of yours, you wouldn’t rush home for a funeral. After all, your parents are nowhere near as important as your idols.

How about this, let me give you a better example. If I Photoshopped a picture of your idol kicking the bucket, most of you would probably drop everything—your parents, your spouse, your kids—and immediately put on mourning clothes to go to your idol’s funeral!"

"Cao Nima! What the hell are you saying?!"

"We’re all here to demand justice from you! Who the fuck is a fan of some idol?"

"Chenyang, you’re a real bastard! How dare you talk to us like that! Believe it or not, we’ll beat you to death."

Seeing the crowd’s faces flushed with utter fury, the glint of delight deep in Chenyang’s eyes grew even stronger.

’I’m just one step away from my goal.’

He shot a contemptuous look at the man who had threatened to kill him and sneered, "Beat me to death? Come on! If you’re man enough, if you piss standing up, then charge up here and do it."

The man’s taunts died on his lips, his expression freezing.

His threat to beat Chenyang to death had been blurted out in a fit of pure anger.

But as for actually going up there and killing him? He wouldn’t dare, not even if he had ten times the guts!

Seeing the man flush red, utterly speechless, the mockery on Chenyang’s face deepened. "Come on! Everyone’s watching. You’re supposed to be a man, right? Don’t let everyone look down on you."

The man’s mouth twitched. He was so mortified he wished the ground would swallow him whole.

"Heh, trash!" Chenyang shot him a contemptuous glance, then continued his tirade. "And that word, ’trash’—I’m not just talking about him. Every single one of you here is trash!

A bunch of trash who only dare to spout nonsense when you’re hiding in a crowd, incited by others! A bunch of trash who jump into the fray without understanding a single thing!

And of course, you’re a bunch of colossal losers who can’t even respect your own parents or satisfy your own wives!

Trash like you are good for nothing except hiding in dark corners, parroting what you hear, and screaming a few slogans to vent your own incompetence.

Oh, but you’re not completely useless. You’re certainly skilled at sucking up to your idols. But let me give you a piece of advice: when you’re down there kissing their asses, make sure you look carefully. You don’t want to accidentally lick their buttholes and get a mouthful of shit!"

"He’s gone too far."

Before the words were even out of Chenyang’s mouth, someone in the crowd shouted, and another voice immediately followed, "Chenyang is trampling all over our dignity!

We came here to demand justice! We came to make him pay for his disgusting, underhanded schemes! But now he’s just standing there, hurling all kinds of insults at us.

Everyone, we can’t let this scumbag get away with being so arrogant! If we let this slide, he’ll just get worse and walk all over us regular people!"

"Everyone, get him with me! Let’s beat this bastard to death!"

"Let’s all attack him at once! Even if something happens, it’s fine. There’s safety in numbers—the law can’t punish all of us!"
