At this, Cuiguo let out a small laugh and explained, “Young Heir, there are thirty days in a month. Ten months would be three hundred days.”

Xu Qingshi frowned and held up his little fingers, counting them one by one.

However, after counting for quite some time, he could only get as far as ten.

Just how many fingers would he need to count three hundred days?

He didn’t have enough fingers.

“Mother, how many years until the baby comes out?” Xu Qingshi asked, looking at Li Zhiwei with a troubled expression. He felt that if the number of days was more than the fingers he had, then it must be a very, very long time.

After thinking it over, he decided that it must be several years.

Even so, he still had no real idea how long three hundred days actually was.

“He’ll come out next year.” Seeing the troubled look on Xu Qingshi’s face, Li Zhiwei answered with a soft laugh.

She thought to herself that, after all, he was still just a child. There were times when even he felt helpless.

Would her own child ask her such questions in the future?

At the thought, the look in Li Zhiwei’s eyes as she gazed at Xu Qingshi grew gentler.

“It still has to be next year? That’ll take so long. Mother, can’t you make the baby come out tomorrow? Next year is too far away. I can’t wait any longer.” Xu Qingshi looked at Li Zhiwei and pleaded earnestly.

He wondered if, by begging his mother a little more, she might be able to give birth to his little brother or sister sooner.

With that thought, Xu Qingshi looked at Li Zhiwei expectantly, as though the more eagerly he wished for it, the more likely she would be to agree to give him a little brother or sister tomorrow.

“You little rascal. Which woman can give birth without carrying a child for ten months? How could the baby possibly come out tomorrow?” Jun Mowen had just walked in when he heard Xu Qingshi’s innocent remark. Unable to resist, he mocked him.

Xu Qingshi turned to look at Jun Mowen. He was an old man the boy had never seen before.

Yet, seeing how familiar the old man seemed with everyone, Xu Qingshi was puzzled. Had his mother gone out and come back with an old man?

For some reason, though, the moment Xu Qingshi saw Jun Mowen, he felt that he could not bring himself to like the old man.

When Jun Mowen saw Xu Qingshi, he was stunned for a moment. The child’s small face bore a five-part resemblance to Xu Heming’s, so he immediately knew that this was Xu Heming’s son. Naturally, Jun Mowen also knew about Li Zhiwei’s circumstances and understood that the child had not been born to her.

He thought to himself that Xu Heming had actually had a child with another woman. His poor little disciple had truly been wronged.

Seeing the guarded look on Xu Qingshi’s face, Jun Mowen came to another conclusion: this child really was just like his father—not at all likable.

“Master, what brings you here?” When Li Zhiwei saw Jun Mowen, she was about to get out of bed, but Jun Mowen stopped her.

“Lie down. I came to take your pulse.”

Jun Mowen had noticed something unusual about the child in Li Zhiwei’s womb quite some time ago.

At the time, however, it had been too early to tell, and Li Zhiwei had been unconscious. Although he had sensed that something was wrong, given the circumstances, he had not dared to say anything.

Now that Li Zhiwei had woken up, he had taken advantage of Madam Jin’s absence to sneak over and confirm his suspicions.

Back when Li Zhiwei had been unconscious, Madam Jin had constantly blamed herself for her poor medical skills and believed that she had harmed her own little disciple.

Li Zhiwei was startled at first, assuming that Jun Mowen was simply worried about her and wanted to examine her.

She did not feel unwell, though, and unlike many other pregnant women, she had not experienced any pregnancy symptoms so far.

Still, since Jun Mowen had come, Li Zhiwei did not refuse him.

She obediently allowed Jun Mowen to take her pulse.

Jun Mowen sat beside the bed and placed his fingers on Li Zhiwei’s slender wrist.

With his eyes closed, he carefully examined her pulse.

As Jun Mowen took her pulse while stroking his beard, Xu Qingshi inexplicably began to feel that the old man might not be very reliable.

He even waved his little hand in front of Jun Mowen’s eyes, wanting to see whether the old man was really taking Li Zhiwei’s pulse.

“Young Heir, we mustn’t disturb the old gentleman.” Cuiguo hurriedly pulled him aside and spoke in a lowered voice.

Cuiguo also wanted to know how Miss was doing.

“Sister Cuiguo, is this old man really a doctor? Could he be some kind of con artist?” Xu Qingshi pouted unhappily.

His voice was neither loud nor soft, but it carried perfectly to Jun Mowen’s ears.

Jun Mowen was thoroughly displeased. Being looked down on by his own wife on a daily basis was one thing, but now even a little child was slandering him?

“You brat, what do you know? I’m a miracle-working physician!” Jun Mowen said to Xu Qingshi with a deeply offended expression.

“You old fool, I knew you had sneaked over here to harm Weiwei!”

Madam Jin had just entered when she heard Jun Mowen’s words. Furious, she shouted at him.

Back when Li Zhiwei had been unconscious, the old man had busied himself for a long time, yet he had ultimately been helpless. His medical skills had not even matched those of the young maid beside Li Zhiwei.

In Madam Jin’s eyes, Jun Mowen was simply incompetent.

Now that Li Zhiwei was pregnant again, she absolutely could not let him come out and harm anyone.

“Weiwei, don’t listen to this old fool’s nonsense. What does he know about treating people? In my opinion, he’s the one who’s sick.” Madam Jin spoke to Li Zhiwei on the bed with deep concern.

“Martial Mother, please don’t be angry. Master must have something he excels at.” Seeing how furious Madam Jin was, Li Zhiwei hurriedly spoke up.

In truth, she did not blame Jun Mowen. Besides, she herself knew what had happened to her back then, even if no one else did. Her condition probably could not have been resolved simply by having a skilled physician treat her.

After all, she had been aware of everything that had happened while she was unconscious. She had simply told no one—not even Xu Heming.

“Exactly.” Jun Mowen hurriedly agreed. He did not believe that Li Zhiwei’s unconsciousness had been caused by his poor medical skills.

“You still dare to talk back?” Madam Jin grabbed Jun Mowen by the ear in anger and warned him, “Weiwei was merely being polite. Do you really think you’re Hua Tuo reborn? Take a look at her—she’s pregnant now. Nothing can be allowed to go wrong.”

Madam Jin was afraid that Jun Mowen’s reckless behavior would cause Li Zhiwei to fall unconscious again.

After all, Li Zhiwei’s previous collapse might very well have been caused by something the old fool had picked up on himself.

Thinking of how Jun Mowen liked to tinker with all sorts of things whenever he had nothing better to do, Madam Jin tugged him by the ear and began dragging him outside.

“Ow, ow, my dear, be gentle! I only wanted to examine Weiwei. It’s not nearly as serious as you make it sound.” Jun Mowen cried out in pain.

How was it that, in his wife’s eyes, he had already become someone who wanted to harm Li Zhiwei?

“Pretty Sister, hurry up and take this wicked old man away. I saw him just now—he definitely doesn’t have good intentions.” Xu Qingshi rolled his eyes and immediately spoke to Madam Jin.
