Chapter 374: Chapter 310: The Great Sword Girl (2)

"Your Sword Techniques are strange." Diana’s tone was tinged with surprise as she pressed her attack. "They aren’t crude like those of Adventurers, nor are they flashy and impractical like the nobility’s. But they do have a hint of a military style."

BANG! An earth spike shot up from the ground, forcing the two apart. Mamadou, who had cast the Earth Spike Technique, was forced back into his struggle with the floating Longsword.

"Hear me out, Grand Commander! This isn’t what you think! We’re not bad guys." Little John’s eyes were fixed on the girl with two swords before him. He was afraid the sounds of their fight would attract the Church’s Druids or the Torch City guard. While the guards had been lax lately, they would still intervene in an armed street brawl.

’Besides, he and Mamadou really *had* just wrecked the Holy Oak Cathedral. If they were caught, this girl from the War God Church would probably be fine, but he and Mamadou would be the ones doing jail time.’ 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

"A classic line." Diana shifted her stance. Despite the fighting, her breathing was even, and she appeared completely unaffected. "Every culprit says they’re not a bad guy."

Seeing that he couldn’t reason with her, Little John decided to stop wasting his breath. He still had an ace up his sleeve.

With that thought, instead of retreating, he advanced, charging straight at Diana with his sword. The unexpected move brought a look of delight to the girl’s face. "Finally, things are getting interesting."

As their Longswords clashed, Little John frowned, his gaze locked on Diana. A red light flashed in his eyes, causing her to falter for an instant.

Unfortunately, it was only for a moment—less than a second. Diana fiercely swung her Longsword and smashed Little John away.

"You have a strange Ability, too." Diana frowned. "What was that just now? Eye of Fear, or something like it?"

"Did you make a pact with a Demon?" Her earlier excited expression vanished, replaced by a grim seriousness. "It seems I’ll have to teach you a proper lesson before I question you about your relationship with your Demon master."

CRASH! A loud noise drew both of their gazes. Over by the wall, Mamadou had one hand pressed against the alley’s stone wall, from which a giant stone hand had emerged and swatted the floating Longsword away.

"That thing is pretty tough to deal with." Mamadou let out a breath. He hadn’t noticed that the fight had knocked his hood askew, revealing the half-Beastman features of his face.

"A Beastman?" Diana cried out in surprise again. "And a Beastman Mage?"

Then, she immediately put the pieces together. "An evil Swordsman who made a pact with a Demon, and a Beastman Mage who shouldn’t even be on this plane... you two joined forces to cause a disturbance at the Holy Oak Cathedral? What is your conspiracy?"

"What conspiracy could we have? We’re the fucking good guys!" Mamadou retorted loudly. "And what do you mean, a Beastman who shouldn’t be here? I’m not a Mage! I’m the man who’s going to become the Great Thief King!"

As he spoke, he waved his hand, and the giant stone hand on the wall slapped toward Diana with a WHOOSH.

The attack was fierce. The giant hand slammed into the ground, shattering the pavement. The hand itself broke apart, sending stones of all sizes flying in every direction. They struck the walls with a CLATTER, smashing large craters into the stonework in several places.

But Mamadou didn’t stop. He pressed his hand to the wall again, chanting a Spell in Beastman Speech. With a grinding KRKKK, the wall rumbled as another giant stone hand slowly took shape.

"Looks like you’re planning to go all out." Diana frowned at the two of them. ’I can’t play around anymore. Otherwise, you two might drag innocent civilians into this, and that would be a real headache.’

She bit her lip and whispered, "Uncle, please."

After speaking, she gripped her two Longswords together. The floating Longsword shot back with a WHOOSH. SHING! The three Longswords combined, and after a flash of white light, they transformed into a two-meter-long Giant Sword.

"What?" Little John’s eyes widened as he watched the three Longswords transform. ’They can be used like that?’

But the girl gave Little John no time to be amazed. She dragged the Giant Sword, dashing forward in just a few steps. Then, she planted her feet, twisted at the waist, and swung the Giant Sword in a Horizontal Sweep.

With a loud BANG, the Giant Sword smashed the stone hand in two. Stone fragments and a cloud of dust flew everywhere, but it wasn’t enough to stop Diana’s next move. Using the momentum from her sweep, she pivoted on her ankle, swinging the Giant Sword into a Vortex Slash that swiftly cut the rest of the stone hand to pieces.

The flying stones and dust settled around them. Just as Diana was about to make her next move, the scattered stones suddenly rose into the air as if they had a life of their own and shot toward her.

CLANG! CLANG! Diana swung the Giant Sword, fending off the incoming shrapnel. She then smashed apart an earth wall that had risen before her. But just as she prepared to bring the Giant Sword down on her opponents, the empty alley in front of her made her freeze.

’They ran?’ She frowned. ’Using the giant hand to create a smokescreen, the shrapnel to block my attack, and then an earth wall to obscure my vision... Those two really are evil. Nothing but dirty tricks.’

She forcefully plunged the two-meter-long Giant Sword into the ground and scanned the alley. "They’re fast runners."

SHING! The Giant Sword flashed with white light and split back into three Longswords. This time, however, all three of them floated in the air.

"Hm? What did you say, Uncle?" Diana walked over to the Longswords, leaning close to one of the floating blades as if listening. "That Swordsman was a bit strange?"

"What’s the problem?" She scratched her cheek. "Second Uncle, you’re saying he might be connected to Fourth Uncle?"

"But they’ve already run off." Diana shrugged. "It won’t be so easy to find those two again."

"What? You want me to figure it out?" She sighed with a hint of regret. "All right, all right, I get it. I’ll find a way to help you find Fourth Uncle."

"If I’d known, I wouldn’t have attacked them in the first place." Diana kicked a stray pebble at her feet.

"Stop, don’t say that, Uncle. What do you mean ’it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t attack’?"

With that, Diana beckoned with her hand, and the three floating Longswords flew back into their sheaths like birds returning to a nest.

"I’ll do it. But for now, I need to get out of here. It’ll be a hassle if the city guard shows up."

With that, she glanced back at the alley entrance, then pushed off with her feet, leaping onto a nearby roof in a few quick bounds. She vanished as quickly as a nimble thief.

「Nearly a minute later.」

CRASH! A section of the wall collapsed, revealing Mamadou and Little John hiding inside.

"Hey, if you could use that kind of Magic, why didn’t you use it from the start?" Little John asked with some annoyance, brushing the dust off his clothes.

"How was I supposed to know this Grand Commander would be so tough?" Mamadou said with a shrug. "Besides, using so many spells in a row has taken a serious toll on my Spiritual Power."

"So you’re telling me we just fought a massive battle with a Commander from the Holy Order Army and nearly got ourselves killed, all for a book called *How to Attract Female Pigs for Mating*?" Little John looked down at his clothes, which had been torn by the tip of Diana’s sword. He had narrowly dodged her blade several times during her assault.

"I think we should just return this stupid book," Mamadou said, also sounding regretful. He pulled the book out from under his arm and wiped off the dust. "Wait, look at this. The title changed."

"The title changed?" Little John leaned in to look.

"*Mushroom Spores and Life Form Variants*?"
