Chapter 373 - 310: Great Sword Girl
Chapter 373: Chapter 310: Great Sword Girl
When Mamadou had dragged him along to investigate the Earth and Life Church today, Little John had anticipated a potential fight. At the time, he thought it would be against a group of Druids. But Mamadou had said that if a battle broke out, he would use the Earth Vein Technique to help them escape. To put it simply, they’d burrow into the ground.
But now, events had spiraled completely beyond Little John’s expectations. The Druids of the Life Church hadn’t given chase. Instead, the Holy Order Army of the War God Church had drawn their swords and charged.
And this girl, who was only one-and-a-half meters tall, had the nerve to shamelessly call herself the Grand Commander of the Holy Order Army. ’What a jo—’
CLANG! The piercing sound of metal on metal rang out. Little John was forced to block her downward slash with his longsword. "You’ve got to be kidding me! How is she this strong?"
He struggled to hold his ground, his arms trembling slightly. The girl’s strength was in no way inferior to Red Eyes from his own group. He knew his boss had said that after numerous battles, Red Eyes’s combat power was now far greater than that of an ordinary Adventurer.
"Not bad. You actually blocked my slash," Diana said, her tone laced with a hint of pleasant surprise as she pressed down with her twin swords. "It seems you’re not just common riffraff. I’ll have to get a little more serious."
"You’re going to get *more* serious?" Little John frowned, and with a sudden burst of strength, he shoved her twin swords away. Immediately after, a dull THUD sounded above his head. A longsword had struck a floating block of stone.
"A third longsword?" Little John froze for a moment, then immediately fell back and assumed a combat stance.
"A Molding Mage?" Diana stood in place, holding her two longswords with a casual air. The third longsword that had struck the stone then went WHOOSH, flying back to float behind her. "Interesting. Looks like I’ll get a proper fight after all."
"There’s something very wrong with this girl," Little John said to Mamadou behind him, his eyes fixed on her hands. "That floating sword is probably a Magic Item. You’ll need to watch out for its sneak attacks."
When he had practiced Sword Techniques with the Skeleton Warriors, they had warned Little John to be extremely careful when facing an opponent who used two swords. It was incredibly difficult for an ordinary person to master them. Compared to wielding a single longsword, using two required a huge amount of time to train hand coordination. Furthermore, anyone who could slash effectively with twin swords was also significantly stronger than the average person. And unlike fighting with one long and one short sword, using two swords of the same length meant each blade could be used for both offense and defense, allowing for incredibly fast and hard-to-counter transitions between attacking and defending.
’But this opponent isn’t exactly a dual-wielding Swordsman... she’s more like a three-sword Swordsman,’ Little John thought. He slowly turned sideways, holding his sword to face his enemy and presenting the narrowest possible target.
Seeing Little John cautiously adopt a defensive stance instead of risking an attack, a flicker of pleasant surprise appeared in Diana’s eyes. "It seems you know a thing or two about Swordsmanship. A cut above those half-baked Adventurers."
"Looks like I’ll get to have some real fun today." The words had barely left her lips before she charged forward again. Her twin swords shot out like vipers from their dens, the sound of them cutting through the air enough to make one’s hair stand on end.
Seeing the girl execute a twin-sword thrust, Little John hastily parried with his own blade. Her speed was even greater than before, forcing him to put everything he had into his defense.
CLANG! He deflected the tips of the twin swords, but Little John was still forced into a stumbling retreat. At that same moment, the floating longsword came whistling down toward his head with a WHIRR. If Mamadou hadn’t forcefully yanked him back, it would have likely buried itself in his shoulder.
’Such bizarre Sword Techniques.’ Little John’s eyelid twitched. All three swords could defend and attack simultaneously. He had never seen such a fighting style.
BANG! BANG! With a series of explosive sounds, Diana swung her twin swords, rapidly shattering several chunks of stone flying toward her. In the middle of it all, she nimbly leaped sideways, dodging an Earth Spike Technique unleashed by Mamadou.
"An Earth Element Molding Mage?" She tilted her head, looking at Mamadou, who had a book tucked under one arm and was controlling three floating stones with his other hand. "Why would a Mage be stealing from a Church?"
"It’s not stealing, merely... acquiring," Mamadou said, keeping his head lowered as much as possible to hide his face. "When it comes to matters of the Magic Realm, how can one call it ’stealing’?"
The corner of Diana’s mouth twitched into a smirk. She paid no mind to his words and charged with her swords once more. This time, she didn’t opt for a thrust, but instead tried to close the distance with Little John, seemingly intending to engage him in a close-quarters melee.
But she had barely taken two steps when the ground before her rose with a WHOOSH, forming a two-meter-high wall of earth that separated her from the duo.
This was hardly an obstacle for the one-and-a-half-meter-tall Diana, however. She simply bent her knees and leaped, launching herself onto the wall of a nearby alley. With a few more ricocheting jumps off the walls, she cleared the earthen barrier. "Don’t even think about running."
With that, Diana dove from the air like a pouncing hawk, shooting straight for Little John and his companion, who had already managed to run a few steps away.
CLANG! The sound of colliding metal rang out again. Little John scrambled to block Diana’s attack, while Mamadou, beside him, was in an even more awkward predicament. The two stacked Earth Shields he had summoned were pierced clean through by the floating longsword.
’She’s too much to handle.’ Little John continuously defended against Diana’s aggressive assault. The girl’s twin swords moved with blinding speed. If it weren’t for his experience fighting the Skeleton Warriors and Giant Demon Caocao on multiple occasions, he probably would have been run through several times over by now.
