Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Undercover Agent Angered to the Point of Vomiting Blood by Liang He?

Gali quickly clutched his injured right hand, looking in horror at Liang He, who had appeared beside him like a ghost.

Having deliberately delayed his journey to drain Hoder and the others’ stamina, he had completely missed the sight of Liang He teaching the black mist a lesson and slaughtering the Fierce Beasts. He couldn’t figure it out at all. When exactly did this supposedly fragile Blue Star person get so close to him? And how had she managed to shoot him while his guard was down?

"You... you’re not Liang He! Who the hell are you?!"

As the Rebel Army’s most deeply embedded mole in the reserve, Gali was the one who had leaked Liang He’s existence. After receiving orders from his superiors, he had kept a close eye on her every move. Perhaps it was a twist of fate, but during the rare occasions when Liang He actually took action, he happened to be away transporting supplies. Even on the day she took down three Rebel Army members, he was busy helping transport Fierce Beasts.

"Gali! Surrender now!"

Liang He didn’t bother answering Gali’s utterly stupid question. Her intervention had finally given Hoder a chance to catch his breath.

"Surrender? Heh, haha! What a joke!"

Even at death’s door, Gali refused to give up. He even wanted to drag them all down with him!

"Kill them all! Once the mission is complete, everyone will be rewarded!"

Gali and his men wielded the firearms originally meant for the Guard Team and the Law Enforcement Team, launching an indiscriminate attack. Fortunately, those under attack weren’t stupid. Mimicking Liang He’s tactics, they used the Fierce Beasts as meat shields. Not only did they avoid injury, but they also used the Rebel Army’s fire to take out quite a few Fierce Beasts.

Seeing this, Gali’s expression turned even uglier. Just as he was about to speak, Liang He pressed a sword against his neck.

"Gali, tell them to stop."

"Impossible!"

Gali refused without a second thought. Liang He let out a cold sneer and directly sliced a bloody trail across his neck.

"Don’t make me say it a third time. Tell them to stop."

Sensing that Liang He truly had murderous intent, Gali was unwilling to yield, yet he didn’t dare make a sound. However, sometimes, silence was also a form of refusal.

"SHNK!"

"Ah! You..."

Gali’s eyes widened as he stared at his foot, which had been pierced clean through by the sword. The moment the blade was pulled out, blood splattered in all directions. The agonizing pain made Gali suddenly realize that while Liang He might not kill him, she certainly wouldn’t let him off easily.

"I said it before. As a mole, you weren’t exactly flawless."

He wondered what she meant by that. Back when his wrist was injured, Liang He had said something similar, but the pain had been too intense for him to think about it. Now, however, a sense of dread crept into his heart. Could his cover have been blown long ago?

It was impossible! Absolutely impossible! If his identity had been exposed, why would the Stationmaster still let him transport weapons to the Seventh Service Area? Wouldn’t that just be handing them an advantage on a silver platter?

"Are you trying to bluff me?"

Refusing to believe—and terrified to accept—the fact that he had been exposed, Gali viciously glared at the Blue Star person. She was clearly shorter and frailer than him, yet she easily held his life in her hands.

Gali suddenly stumbled back, drawing another Photon Gun from his waist with his left hand. He fired a shot at Liang He, but she dodged it with ease. Just as he prepared to attack her with reckless abandon, he panicked upon realizing that the Photon Gun had absolutely zero energy left.

"What’s going on? Why is this happening?!"

Gali frantically pulled the trigger, but it was completely useless. Unable to process this absurd reality, he suddenly snapped his head up, his eyes bulging so wide they nearly popped out of their sockets.

"It was you? You tampered with it!"

"I don’t have the ability to tamper with everyone’s weapons."

Liang He lifted her chin slightly, gesturing for Gali to look at the chaotic battlefield.

To execute this surprise attack and successfully abduct Liang He and the Beastmen, Gali and his comrades had brought their own firearms. However, both the number of Photon Guns and their energy reserves were limited. Just as they confidently pulled out the guns originally meant for the Guard Team and the Law Enforcement Team to continue their barrage, their faces filled with shock and terror the moment they pulled the triggers.

"Governor Huo and Captain Keli discovered you were a mole a long time ago. This batch of firearms was nothing but bait to lure you into a trap."

This shipment of guns had been specifically left for Gali by Huo An. Every weapon only had enough energy for one or two shots—just enough to keep up the charade and prevent Gali from getting suspicious.

Once the members of the Guard Team and the Law Enforcement Team noticed the Rebel Army’s firepower dwindling, they swiftly counterattacked and soon subdued them. The tide of the battle was now crystal clear.

"So... you knew I was a mole all along?" Gali asked after a long moment of silence, his hoarse voice dripping with disbelief.

"Yes. The reason we didn’t expose you was to completely root out your accomplices and locate the Fierce Beasts within the reserve."

Huo An had discussed this matter with Liang He when they met right before tracking down the Rebel Army. Although she didn’t know why Huo An trusted her so deeply, Liang He wasn’t about to betray that trust.

"If you could think of creating a diversion, why couldn’t we think of luring the snake out of its hole?"

Gali didn’t know much about Blue Star’s civilization; the little he did know was only to help him get close to Liang He. However, he generally understood the meaning behind her words. Everything happening right now was orchestrated by Huo An and Liang He.

"Ha... haha! Good! Very good!"

Now that things had come to this and his efforts had ended in failure on the verge of success, Gali completely abandoned his resistance. The Photon Gun, long since unable to fire, fell from his hand and hit the ground with a loud CLATTER.

Laughing in defeat, Gali stared at Liang He, his eyes filled with resentment and regret. "I never expected to lose at your hands. If I had known, I should have just poisoned your food and killed you."

Gali was now filled with endless regret. If he hadn’t wanted to use the intel on Liang He to claim credit, thereby missing chance after chance to kill her, perhaps everything would have ended differently today.

"You wouldn’t have been able to poison me." Completely indifferent to Gali’s feelings, Liang He spoke coldly. "No one can poison me. Besides, you’re just too stupid."

"I’m stupid?!" Gali was driven nearly insane with rage.

"Yes, you’re stupid."

Liang He genuinely thought he was stupid. He had been hiding so well before; if the information on the Dass Light Computer hadn’t exposed his existence, he could have easily tampered with everyone’s food. It would have been one thing back when the reserve had no cafeteria and everyone only drank nutrient solutions. But ever since Liang He arrived, all the ingredients for the cafeteria were centrally distributed by Gali.

"If I were you, I would have taken advantage of transporting the supplies. I’d either lace the ingredients with a slow-acting poison that would go unnoticed, or, right when the plan was set in motion, I’d feed everyone mutually incompatible foods to drain their stamina."

Some foods naturally conflict with each other. Even though the cafeteria’s chef was from Blue Star, Gali could have easily found a way to stall him and replace him with one of his own men.

"How was I supposed to know you Blue Star people had some concept of incompatible foods?!" Gali felt like Liang He was deliberately humiliating him!

"That just proves you didn’t do a good enough job as a mole. Knowing full well I’m from Blue Star, you should have studied Blue Star civilization more thoroughly and adapted to the situation."

Liang He’s deadpan criticism left Hoder, who was watching from the sidelines, completely speechless. He wondered if being a mole meant you had to study your target’s culture. What would underachievers do? That would be too miserable!

"We have an old saying on Blue Star: love whatever trade you choose. Since you chose to be a mole, you should have devoted yourself to mastering the craft." After speaking, Liang He suddenly sighed and shook her head helplessly. "Never mind. You’re too stupid, so you wouldn’t understand no matter how much I explain. I won’t bother wasting my breath."

"You... PFFT!"

Having been subjected to this baffling lecture, Gali literally spat a mouthful of blood in pure fury and passed out on the ground.

Hoder looked at Liang He in sheer bewilderment.

"Did you... just anger him to death?"
