Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Rebel Army Almost Angered to Death by Mute Subordinates

"Trash! You are all nothing but useless trash who can’t do anything right but ruin everything!"

Valken glared at his silent subordinate. In a fit of rage, he swept everything off his desk, hurling the objects at the trash in front of him. His subordinate’s face was smashed and covered in blood, but he didn’t dare to dodge, afraid of inviting even more frantic beatings.

"I told you to go to the Animal Protection Zone to feel out that Liang He, and what did you do? You delivered yourselves right into their hands!"

Just thinking about it made Valken furious. He simply couldn’t understand how a mere Breeder from Blue Star managed to take down three of his men. At the end of the day, it was because they were too useless!

"And another thing! I went through so much trouble to get Star D139 to cooperate and lure Liang He out of the Animal Protection Zone. And the result? I sent you to kidnap one person, and you got yourselves and the spaceship blasted to dust!"

Having incompetent subordinates was a massive loss of face for him as their leader!

"Why aren’t you speaking? Are you a damn mute?!"

Questioned by Valken, the subordinate actually nodded innocently. He really was a mute. Originally, as a mute, he was just a low-level grunt who would never have had the chance to meet Valken. But because of two failed missions, Valken was now a commander without an army, left with only this one mute subordinate. Realizing this, Valken got a headache from sheer anger. Red-faced, he pointed at the mute subordinate, his hand trembling.

"Did my rival send you to anger me to death so he could take my place?!"

He didn’t even dare to think about what would happen if his superiors found out about these two botched operations. Would they deem him incompetent and strip him of his position? The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, and his anger sent his mind spiraling. Not only was he enraged, but the crisis he found himself in also filled him with delayed fear and anxiety.

"Get out! Get the hell out of here!"

After kicking out the completely silent mute subordinate, Valken started to figure out how to salvage the situation. Right now, if he wanted to redeem himself and restore his image in the eyes of his superiors, there were only two things he could do: one, capture an SSS-level Beastman; or two, abduct Liang He and use her to capture an SSS-level Beastman!

With incompetent subordinates and no one left to use, he finally thought of someone. Perhaps, his only choice was to cooperate with that person.

"My dear old friend, Elias. I need your help. Reply soon."

After hesitating again and again, Valken finally sent the message. Elias—a name that represented death and power.

Because he had been caught red-handed trying to poach someone—even if he was just running his mouth—Duke Kuang Lin was too embarrassed to look Huo An in the eye. In the end, he could only agree to his demand to pack Kuang Ye up and send him to the key Animal Protection Zone on Sky Shining Star. After all, Kuang Ye currently refused to acknowledge anyone but Liang He, not even his own biological father.

"Miss Liang He, I’ll have to trouble you to take good care of my stinky... I mean, snow leopard."

Duke Kuang Lin had received urgent official business from the Empire and needed to rush to Golden Radiance Star, the seat of the Empire, so he couldn’t travel with them. Fortunately, after a few days of treatment under Liang He’s meticulous care, the Mengji Snow Leopard was out of danger and could take a private flight to Sky Shining Star.

"Please rest assured, Duke. I will definitely take good care of the Mengji Snow Leopard."

Seeing Duke Kuang Lin’s reluctance to part and his careful instructions, Liang He couldn’t help but marvel at how genuinely caring and responsible he was as the Mengji Snow Leopard’s adoptive parent.

After bidding farewell to Duke Kuang Lin, Liang He led the fully mobile Mengji Snow Leopard to board the plane. Perhaps because of the unexpected attack last time, the pilot assigned to this private flight was a highly experienced captain.

"Hey! Wait for me!"

Just as the cabin door was about to close, Hoder, who had been completely MIA for the past few days, suddenly appeared at the boarding gate. He waved frantically at Liang He, signaling her to wait.

"PHEW... I finally made it."

"What are you doing here?" Huo An looked coldly down at the panting Hoder, seemingly displeased by his sudden appearance.

"Hey, Uncle, you’re being too unkind! I’ve been so exhausted helping you wipe out the rest of the Rebel Army that I haven’t even had time to eat! I’ve had to survive on nutrient solution!"

Huo An and Hoder were actually uncle and nephew—this truly surprised Liang He. However, in response to Hoder’s accusation, she looked curiously at Huo An. Her gaze made Huo An stiffen, and he subsequently shot Hoder a cold glare.

"In that case, you can leave after Star D139 is completely stabilized." With that said, Huo An ruthlessly moved to close the cabin door, leaving Hoder no room to struggle. But Hoder saw it coming and wedged himself directly into the gap.

"Uncle, I’m Liang He’s bodyguard right now. Only she can decide whether I stay or go!"

It wasn’t that Hoder was being overly stubborn; it was just that Liang He’s cooking was too delicious. He really couldn’t bear to miss out on it!

"Liang He~ You need me, right?"

Hearing this tall, burly man suddenly act cute made Liang He feel unwell. Her scalp went numb, and she broke out in goosebumps. To be honest, she somewhat understood Huo An’s perspective now. However, she did have quite a few fluffy animals to manage at the moment, so having Hoder around to help with some manual labor wouldn’t be a bad idea.

"Brother Hao, let’s just let him on board. At the very least, when we get back, he can help me carry things and chop meat."

Hearing her say this, Huo An felt it wasn’t unreasonable. He had originally transferred Hoder here primarily to ensure Liang He’s safety while he was away from the Animal Protection Zone. Since Liang He still needed him, it wasn’t entirely impossible to bring his nephew, Hoder, along.

"If that’s the case, you’d better obey Liang He’s orders. My Animal Protection Zone doesn’t keep idlers."

"Yes, sir!"

Seeing Huo An relent, Hoder immediately shot Liang He a little look, thanking her for lending a helping hand and speaking up for him. Huo An accurately caught this exchange and rolled his eyes in disgust. What to do? He felt like he was going to regret his decision again.

Compared to a Starship, a private plane was naturally much smaller. However, aside from the cockpit, it was more than spacious enough to accommodate the four of them—including Xu Yi—and a Mengji Snow Leopard pressing itself closely against Liang He.

"Leopard, time to eat."

Liang He sat in the middle row with the Mengji Snow Leopard, while Huo An and the other two occupied the front and back rows, providing a full-circle protective perimeter.

Thanks to her relentless efforts over the past few days, the Mengji Snow Leopard had recovered significantly, and his appetite was growing day by day. Fortunately, she had specially prepared a fresh batch of canned meat before their departure, which was enough for the Mengji Snow Leopard to eat to his heart’s content.

"MEOW~"

Smelling the aroma of the canned meat, the Mengji Snow Leopard wasn’t in a rush to dig in. Instead, he gently rubbed his head against Liang He’s face and placed his little tail in her hand, constantly acting affectionately to thank her for sharing such delicious food with him.

"Haha, alright, stop acting so cute. Hurry up and eat your meat."

Liang He, who had absolutely no resistance to fluffy creatures, affectionately patted the Mengji Snow Leopard’s large head and gave the tips of his ears a little squeeze before pushing the canned meat toward him again. She no longer needed to use canned meat to coax him into taking his medicine, so naturally, she let the Mengji Snow Leopard eat whenever he wanted, as long as he didn’t overeat.

Watching the harmonious and friendly interaction between person and beast, Xu Yi and Hoder were entirely consumed by envy. The Mengji Snow Leopard got delicious canned meat, while they were stuck with unpalatable nutrient solutions. It was simply too much to bear!

"Liang He, I want to eat canned meat too!"
