Chapter 159: Chapter 159: A Weak Body Won’t Do, Exercise More in Your Free Time
Looking at the layers of fresh-keeping boxes stacked inside the incubator, Silver Shuttle was completely dumbfounded. By the time he took all the boxes out, he realized there were eight or nine different dishes alone!
"What is this?"
What was he even doing before? What kind of miserable life had he been living?!
"You haven’t had this before? These are rice noodles, and these dishes are the toppings." Completely forgetting the time he was shocked speechless during his own first experience slurping noodles, Hoder put on the airs of a seasoned expert and began to guide Silver Shuttle. "First, you take a suitable amount of rice noodles and scald them in hot water. Then, take a bowl, pour in the seasonings, and ladle in the hot broth to mix it. Add the noodles, and finally, put your favorite toppings on top..."
Under Hoder’s meticulous guidance, Silver Shuttle clumsily finished assembling his first bowl of noodles. He took a tentative bite, and his eyes instantly lit up.
"This is so delicious!"
Liang He was currently showing Silver Feather around the animal dormitory when she heard the huge commotion coming from Silver Shuttle in the kitchen. She blinked in bewilderment. She had only made a simple, home-style breakfast noodle dish—was it really *that* good? Or had the poor child been abused by nutrient solutions for so long that his threshold for good food was just pathetically low?
"Liang He, what’s over there?" It wasn’t just Liang He who was confused; Silver Feather was burning with curiosity as well, itching to find out what was going on. However, since she was still a guest in someone else’s home, she had to maintain proper manners.
"It’s the kitchen. Shall we go take a look?"
Silver Feather had been waiting for those exact words. She immediately pulled Liang He and walked briskly toward the kitchen, with Huo An and Xu Yi following closely behind. As soon as she pushed the kitchen door open, Silver Feather saw Silver Shuttle. Not only was he eating before preparing any of the delicious food he had promised her, but he was also eating with incredible gusto, completely forgetting her ladyship’s existence.
"Silver Shuttle, are you sneaking food behind my back?!"
"COUGH... COUGH COUGH!"
Silver Shuttle, who had been thoroughly enjoying his meal, instantly wilted the moment he saw Silver Feather. He choked so hard he couldn’t speak.
Seeing his face turn purple from holding his breath, Silver Feather realized she had probably scared him. Her expression softened, and she walked over to him, wordlessly patting his back in an attempt to help him recover. Unfortunately, Silver Feather, who had little experience comforting people, used far too much force, nearly smacking Silver Shuttle’s lungs out.
"Um... Holy Daughter, maybe you should just let him go?" Hoder looked at his little brother’s liver-colored face and felt that if he didn’t speak up to save him from his misery, this kid would drop dead right in front of him the next second.
"..."
Rolling her eyes in speechless exasperation, Silver Feather coldly withdrew her hand. She cast a look of absolute royal disdain at the all-looks-and-no-substance Silver Shuttle. "A weak constitution is unacceptable. You need to exercise more."
In her opinion, it was entirely because Silver Shuttle was too lazy and hadn’t trained his body well enough. Otherwise, why didn’t other people react like this? Either way, it definitely wasn’t her fault!
"COUGH..." Silver Shuttle, who had just begun to recover, wanted to refute her theory about his weak constitution, but he ended up choking again. This time, he was completely out of commission.
"Alright, everyone stop talking. Drink some water and catch your breath," Liang He finally intervened, pouring him a cup of warm water. She had him sit down and drink slowly until he recovered and returned to normal.
Since Liang He was there, Silver Feather couldn’t be bothered to bicker with Silver Shuttle anymore. It was only then that she noticed the aroma in the air and remembered her original purpose for coming to the kitchen.
"Little Shuozi, what were you eating just now?" It looked pretty appetizing, and it certainly smelled much better than that dark culinary disaster known as nutrient solution.
"PFFT. Little Shuozi?" Xu Yi couldn’t hold it in and let out a laugh. He only restrained himself a little after Silver Shuttle shot him a resentful glare.
"Her Ladyship, can we please not use that name?" Silver Shuttle protested dejectedly.
"What’s wrong with Little Shuozi? Isn’t it cute?" Relying on her senior status, Silver Feather loved giving people nicknames. They weren’t malicious; they were generally meant as terms of endearment. It was just like how Liang He gave Kuang Ye his nicknames—Leopard or Little Ye the cat—they were all terms of endearment.
"I think it’s very cute too." It seemed that Liang He was the only one whose brain wavelength could sync up with Silver Feather’s.
"Fine, call me whatever you want." Facing the only two people with any real authority in the room, Silver Shuttle gave up resisting. "I was eating rice noodles just now, but it looks like I can’t eat them anymore..."
Having finally caught his breath, Silver Shuttle felt much better, but his noodles had clumped together and were clearly not as tasty as before.
"It’s fine, I’ll make a fresh batch for you guys." Liang He hadn’t expected them to fend for themselves to begin with. She had prepared all the toppings in advance, and the broth had been simmering since she cooked dinner last night. "Are you all eating?"
She specifically glanced at Hoder, who had already finished a bowl. Seeing him nod, Liang He quickly counted heads and dropped six portions of noodles into the pot.
"We can’t boil all the noodles at once. It’s best to cook them one bowl at a time as you eat. If it’s not enough, I’ll boil more." To avoid wasting time teaching them and having the noodles clump up again, Liang He deftly prepared the seasoning bases for everyone. All they had to do was add their favorite toppings.
"It smells so good!" This was Silver Feather’s first time eating real food other than nutrient solutions while in human form, and she was getting impatient. "What should I do? I want to try every single topping."
Discovering her sudden choice paralysis for the first time, Silver Feather was caught in a dilemma. She was afraid that mixing everything together wouldn’t taste good.
"I’ll get you a small bowl. You can divide one portion of noodles into several servings and use different toppings each time." Because she didn’t know Silver Feather’s appetite, Liang He gave her a standard portion. She was more familiar with Huo An and Xu Yi’s eating habits, so she had a better grasp of their portions.
"Great idea!" Silver Feather was highly satisfied with Liang He’s suggestion. She took the clean little bowl from Liang He and tried picking up the rice noodles with chopsticks.
"Sorry, I forgot this is your first time using chopsticks." Seeing Silver Feather struggle to pick up the noodles and growing frustrated, Liang He quickly found a fork from the cupboard and handed it to her. "You can just twirl the noodles with the fork."
After a simple demonstration, Silver Feather immediately understood. She quickly got the hang of it and finally got to taste the hot rice noodles.
"So delicious!"
Hearing her utter the exact same exclamation he had, Silver Shuttle finally realized how embarrassing he had been earlier. He immediately buried his face in his bowl and ate in silence.
"Liang He, aren’t you going to eat?" Hoder, who had already finished his first bowl and was now leisurely slurping his second, noticed that she hadn’t made a portion for herself and felt confused. "Are we out of noodles? I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked for more." Hoder wanted to offer his noodles to Liang He, but he had already taken a few bites.
"No, there are plenty of noodles left, eat as much as you want. I just need to go check on Lanton and the others first."
Silver Feather’s appearance had distracted Liang He from the fluffy companions who had just returned from hunting. Now, feeling a bit worried, she wanted to go check on them. "You guys eat first, I’ll be back after I see them."
With her fluffy companions on her mind, Liang He left the kitchen and headed straight for the animal dormitory. When she was showing Silver Feather around earlier, she noticed that the fluffy ones were all lying in their individual rooms, but the prey they had hunted was nowhere to be seen, and she didn’t know if they had eaten yet.
"My sweeties, I’m back."
The moment Liang He appeared, the previously bored fluffy companions instantly perked their ears up. They darted their eyes toward the sound, and upon confirming it was her, they immediately wagged their tails and bounded forward.
"MEOW~" The Mengji Snow Leopard happily bit the tip of its tail and circled Liang He, a stark contrast to its lethargic appearance from just moments ago.
"Leopard, why do I feel like you’ve gotten a bit fat lately? You look like a little dump truck."
