Chapter 139: Chapter 139: People Shocked Again and Again

Compared to those in the underground shelter, the people on the surface felt the tremors much more intensely. Or rather, it wasn’t the intensity of the ground shaking, but the sheer visual impact.

"Are my eyes playing tricks on me? What the hell is that horde?!"

"We’re completely doomed. We haven’t even finished dealing with this pack of Fierce Beasts, and now another wave is coming?!"

"Cut the crap! Keep attacking the Fierce Beasts! If we stop, we’re dead!"

With Huo An present, most of the Fierce Beasts’ attention was drawn to him, making it much easier for the Federation Army to deal with the scattered remnants. However, their gazes kept drifting involuntarily toward the distance. As the beast tide galloped toward them, their hearts couldn’t stop pounding in their chests.

Hoder, who had also noticed the situation, immediately pulled up the surveillance feed. Once he got a clear look at the true nature of the beast tide and caught a glimpse of a familiar figure, he shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Don’t worry! It’s Liang He and the Mengji Snow Leopard! They’re back to help!"

Following Hoder’s loud announcement, the anxious crowd suddenly relaxed. A few nearly gave the Fierce Beasts around them an opening, but they quickly snapped back to attention. The arrival of Liang He and the beast tide was clearly a shot in the arm for everyone, driving them to fight the Fierce Beasts with even more vigor.

"Kuang Ye! Take the Beast Beasts and go help!"

In an instant, the fluffy reinforcements gathered by Liang He and the Mengji Snow Leopard arrived near the hotel, coming face-to-face with the Fierce Beast Army. On the way here, Liang He had repeatedly drummed instructions into them, explaining exactly what they needed to do. Now, without her needing to say another word, the Beast Beasts immediately sought out their respective prey and launched their attacks.

"Fantastic! It’s the reinforcements brought by Miss Liang He! We’re saved!"

"Haha! We actually have a chance to survive this! Charge, brothers!"

"Charge, charge, charge! Damn Rebel Army, running into us is your bad luck!"

Descending like a goddess from the heavens, Liang He instantly ignited everyone’s hopes. They were so thrilled that even the people in the underground shelter could faintly hear their cheers.

As the ultimate figure of authority, President Lucas naturally took it upon himself to inquire about the situation. When he learned that Liang He had brought a massive herd of animals to help fight the Fierce Beasts, a look of utter shock appeared on his weather-beaten face.

"Am I hearing things? Commanding animals to participate in battle... how is that even possible?"

"So the tremors just now were actually caused by Miss Liang He bringing the animals over?"

"You heard right, I heard it too! No wonder there’s cheering coming from above. Just thinking about it gets me fired up!"

Listening to the rising chorus of exclamations and pleasant surprises, Tainan, who was sitting in the corner, finally let go of his lingering obsession. A person like Liang He was destined to shine brilliantly; even someone like him could never block her Light.

"Liang He!" Inside the hotel, Hoder was thrilled to see her and waved her over.

Liang He had caught a glimpse of Huo An in his Kunpeng form and was curiously craning her neck to look. Hearing Hoder’s voice, she reluctantly changed direction and walked toward him.

"How is the situation?" she asked.

"Zero casualties so far. With the reinforcements you brought, we should be able to hold out until the Federation Army arrives."

Because the Mojin King Tiger and the others were handling the distant front, Liang He had prioritized bringing the Beast Beasts to support the hotel.

"That’s good. Where did that Kunpeng come from? Is he also from Greenfield Star?"

Liang He already knew about the Kunpeng’s existence from previous Star Network reports, so she didn’t doubt he was real. However, she never expected to see the legendary creature with her own eyes. Although he was far from the unfathomable size described in ancient texts, he was by no means small—at the very least, the massive shadow cast over the front of the hotel was entirely thanks to him.

"Uh..."

Just as Hoder was trying to come up with an excuse to cover for Huo An, Liang He proactively waved her hand.

"Never mind. If it’s inconvenient to say, just pretend I never asked."

Every person or beast had their own little secrets. Since Hoder looked so conflicted, Liang He saw no need to pry. She didn’t have much interest in other people’s secrets, and besides, respecting them was the right thing to do.

"I’m going to head back to find Cedriel and the others. With Kuang Ye holding down the fort here, nothing will go wrong."

No matter how dense Liang He might be, she could still sense the gap between her own fluffy companions and ordinary animals. It was like the difference between royalty and commoners—an innate sense of awe and reverence. But Xu Yi had told her before that the Federation intended to gather extraordinary beasts together to form a War Beast Army. Therefore, Liang He figured they had simply mutated into more powerful beasts during their evolutionary process.

To some extent, Liang He wasn’t wrong.

"Alright, I’ll have someone prep a hovercraft. Stay safe." With the Mengji Snow Leopard staying behind, Liang He couldn’t exactly walk back.

"Little Kunpeng! You can do it! I’m rooting for you!"

Huo An, who had been silently observing Liang He’s reactions, was a bit bewildered when she went out of her way to greet him before leaving. He simply gave his tail a dumbfounded wag in response.

Piloting the hovercraft, Liang He swiftly returned to the periphery of the Fierce Beast Army. Just as she had anticipated, the situation was well under control.

"My darlings, I’m back!"

"SCREECH!"

The moment he saw Liang He, the Canglan Hunting Eagle immediately circled happily in the air, completely abandoning his coordination with the Mojin King Tiger.

Fortunately, Cedriel’s own strength was formidable. Even without Lanton’s help, he could easily handle the Fierce Beasts.

"ROAR!"

Cedriel took a moment to respond to Liang He, though his paws never stopped swiping at the approaching Fierce Beasts.

As for the Platinum Giant Lion and the Iron-eating Beast, they were both performing their respective duties without complaint. The Iron-eating Beast, usually so sluggish, fought with an intensity that rivaled the other fluffy beasts, coordinating perfectly with Soros.

"Liang He! You’re finally back! Save me!"

The prolonged battle had left Soros utterly exhausted. He was fighting on sheer willpower alone and had nearly been bitten by Fierce Beasts several times, saved only by the Iron-eating Beast’s timely interventions.

"Coming! Catch!" Liang He tossed the Combat Suit she had brought over to Soros. Hoder had forced it upon her before she left. "Go change on the hovercraft and catch your breath."

Taking over Soros’s position, Liang He wielded a large broadsword she had snagged from who knows where. She swung it rapidly, and in the blink of an eye, a swath of Fierce Beasts collapsed around her.

Sitting inside the hovercraft and watching Liang He’s off-the-charts combat prowess, Soros couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of relief. Thank goodness he had reined himself in at the precipice and established a cooperative relationship with Liang He in time. Otherwise, he might have ended up as one of the dead souls beneath that blade.

"Liang He! Hoder just sent word—the Federation Army has arrived!"

After fighting for an unknown amount of time, Liang He’s clothes were dyed with the blood of Fierce Beasts. When she finally stopped and looked back, the scene could only be described as a field strewn with corpses. Yet, she didn’t feel happy at all. These Fierce Beasts had originally been vibrant, living creatures too.

"I know, stop yelling."

Hurrying as fast as they could, the newly arrived Federation Army didn’t encounter the tragic scene they had expected. Relieved, they were also quite curious. It wasn’t until the Federation Army stationed on Greenfield Star submitted their report that they learned this was primarily thanks to Liang He and the Evolutionary Beastmen.

In particular, when they heard that Liang He could command ordinary animals to participate in battle and even coordinate with flawless synergy, looks of absolute shock surfaced on their faces—earning them a few mocking chuckles from their comrades who had already been shocked several times over.

"Excuse me, are you Miss Liang He? Someone wishes to see you."
