Chapter 127: Chapter 127: A Scheme to Kill Two Birds with One Stone
Before Liang He could even finish, Evelyn nodded immediately.
"Of course I believe you. If there’s anything you need my help with, just say the word!"
In the past, Evelyn had certainly encountered people who tried to use her to achieve their own goals—people who would deliberately approach her or even manufacture accidents just to play the savior. But she knew very well that Liang He was nothing like them. Every time Liang He lent a helping hand, she never asked for anything in return. She didn’t even give Evelyn any special treatment because of her royal status, simply interacting with her like a normal friend. This made Evelyn cherish their friendship deeply.
"I need you to take Beibei and leave Greenfield Star tonight," Liang He said.
Liang He had always known that someone was watching her, but she hadn’t expected the enemy to resort to such despicable tactics. Therefore, just to be safe, sending away Evelyn and her daughter—who were relatively close to her—was clearly the best choice. After all, she couldn’t be certain whether the enemy’s target was actually her or the mother-daughter duo. It was even possible that the enemy intended to use their royal status to cause trouble for Liang He after an accident occurred.
"Is something going to happen?" As the Third Princess, Evelyn wasn’t some ignorant damsel locked in a tower. She had her own judgment and sharp intuition.
"There’s no time to explain. It’s best if you have a private jet escort you. With your status, your private transport should have been on standby here on Greenfield Star this whole time, right?" A commercial Starship would be full of shady characters, making it too easy for bad actors to find an opening. Since Evelyn was traveling with a young child like Beibei, a private jet was much safer.
"Alright, I understand. I’ll contact them right away." Out of complete trust in Liang He, Evelyn didn’t press for reasons. Instead, under the dual protection of Hoder and Liang He, she contacted her subordinates to prepare for an early departure.
"Everything is arranged. Do you want to leave with me?" Since Liang He was certain there was danger, Evelyn naturally wanted to take her away as well. Whether out of gratitude for saving her life or simply from spending the last few days together, Evelyn had already come to care for Liang He like a younger sister.
"I can’t. I have a sharing and exchange seminar tomorrow." Liang He would not break the promise she made to President Lucas. "Besides, if I leave, it will likely alert them, and then it’ll be even harder for you to get out safely."
After reaching a consensus, Liang He and the others followed their normal routine. They first went to the dining hall to enjoy dinner, then escorted Evelyn and her daughter back to their room. According to their plan, Evelyn had Beibei pretend to come down with a sudden, acute illness in the middle of the night. Under this guise, they smoothly boarded their private jet and safely departed without raising suspicion.
"Huh? What happened over there?" Soros’s room was in the same direction as Liang He’s. Although they had separate small balconies, they could easily see each other’s spaces.
"It seems the Little Princess suddenly fell gravely ill. The Third Princess didn’t trust Greenfield Star’s medical technology, so she took the Little Princess back to the Royal Court overnight." Evelyn had deliberately caused a huge commotion. Liang He and her team didn’t even need to help explain; the other guests had already pieced together the ’truth’ and were unconsciously helping to sell the lie.
Seeing this, the people hiding in the shadows confirmed that they hadn’t been exposed and that Liang He hadn’t left. They subsequently lowered their guard and stopped investigating. It wasn’t until Liang He and Hoder returned to their room and closed the doors and windows that they finally exchanged a glance, a triumphant smile tugging at the corners of their lips.
"I already know who they are," Liang He said, referring to the enemies lurking around them.
"You’re truly amazing, using Evelyn’s departure to force these people to show their true colors." Hoder couldn’t help but give Liang He a thumbs-up. He really didn’t know how she managed to come up with such a brilliant tactic in such a short amount of time.
"My original intention was genuinely just to get them away from danger. This is purely a side effect." No matter what, Liang He would never use a friend to achieve her own goals, let alone for something so dangerous.
"I know, I was just saying. Don’t mind me." Hoder also knew he had spoken too fast. He knew Liang He didn’t mean it that way, but his words made it sound like she was some scheming manipulator, which was definitely his fault. The more he thought about it, the more Hoder felt he had crossed a line. His face turned bright red as he scratched his head, deeply embarrassed as he apologized. "I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to imply you did it on purpose..."
"Alright, I know you meant no harm." Having known him for so long, Liang He naturally knew that Hoder just had a habit of speaking without thinking. She wasn’t going to hold such a petty thing against him; it would just be too exhausting.
"Anyway, Evelyn and the others have left safely. Let’s go back to sleep. We still have a tough battle to fight tomorrow." Being woken up in the middle of a deep sleep wasn’t a great feeling. Yawning, Liang He went back into her room, hugged the Platinum Giant Lion, and fell fast asleep again.
Because the morning session was a training and exchange seminar hosted by Liang He, she couldn’t afford to be late, so she had booked a wake-up call in advance. After washing up and eating breakfast, she changed into a more casual pantsuit and hurried to the venue, not even bothering to put on makeup.
"Seriously, I had the makeup artists all prepped and ready. Why didn’t you use them?" Seeing Liang He recklessly squander her natural good looks, Hoder let out a deep sigh.
"Yesterday, I attended representing the Tianyao Star Protection Zone, which is why I dressed up a bit. But today is purely for sharing and exchanging ideas, so there’s no need to be so formal." Furthermore, while her outfit wasn’t as formal as yesterday’s, it still looked good. The fabric just wasn’t as stiff as a traditional suit, making it much more comfortable to move in. After all, there was a ninety-nine point nine-nine percent chance she was going to end up in a physical fight today, and a stiff suit or skirt would be far too inconvenient.
"Fair enough." After receiving Liang He’s subtle hint, Hoder agreed that her outfit was a practical choice and dropped the subject.
By the time Liang He entered the backstage lounge at the venue, President Lucas had already been waiting for a while.
"President." Liang He wasn’t surprised by his presence; she was the one who had contacted Assistant An to invite him here.
"Haha, Liang He, you’re about to go on stage soon. Are you nervous?" President Lucas joked with her, treating her warmly like a close junior.
"Thanks to you, I feel alright." While exchanging pleasantries with President Lucas, Liang He signaled for Hoder to close the door and check the room for any surveillance or listening devices. Once Hoder confirmed the room was clean, Liang He pulled President Lucas aside to explain the situation, utilizing the last bit of free time before she had to go on stage.
"I understand everything you’ve said. I truly never expected that he would actually..." After hearing Liang He’s explanation, President Lucas shook his head helplessly. The Dwarf Marmoset on his shoulder, noticing his unhappiness, immediately started jumping around before hugging his ear and rubbing affectionately against it.
"Alright, good child, I’m fine." Comforted, President Lucas raised his hand to stroke the little marmoset, his face full of paternal affection.
"No wonder the Third Princess and the Little Princess left overnight. That was your doing as well, wasn’t it?" he asked.
"Yes. Their identities are special. If something were to happen to them, it could easily affect..." There was no need for her to finish the sentence; Lucas understood perfectly. He nodded gently, feeling that Liang He had handled the situation exceptionally well.
Greenfield Star was under the jurisdiction of the Federation. If Evelyn and her daughter really got hurt here, the Star Shining Royal Court would certainly not let the matter rest. When that time came, the Royal Court dealing with the actual culprit would be one thing, but a resulting rift between them and the Federation would be an entirely different disaster.
"You sought me out today to tell me all this. Is there something you need my help with?" Lucas asked.
