Chapter 101: Chapter 101: The Reason for the Elephant Group’s Restlessness
"Madam, Miss, are you all right?!"
The bodyguard, whom the noblewoman had sent away on an errand, rushed back in a panic after hearing about the incident, only to find them missing from the scene. Believing he was a step too late and had exposed the noblewoman to danger, he had already started preparing for the worst. He only breathed a sigh of relief when a kind staff member informed him that the noblewoman and the little girl had returned to their room, prompting him to hurry back.
"I’m fine. Don’t worry," the noblewoman kindly consoled the bodyguard.
She looked at him as he stood there drenched in a cold sweat, his face filled with anxiety, worry, and bitter self-reproach. She didn’t blame him. She had been too overconfident, assuming there was no danger inside the hotel, which was why she had sent him away to run an errand. No one wanted to encounter danger.
It wasn’t exactly arrogance on her part, either. The training exchange conference had drawn many experts and professors, so the security was actually very robust. The sudden appearance of the Elephant Group was entirely an accident.
"Today, we owe Beibei’s life to a lady and a lion," the noblewoman instructed. "Go and make some inquiries for me. I must properly repay our saviors."
Even though Liang He had repeatedly hinted—both directly and indirectly—that there was no need to worry about it, the noblewoman couldn’t just accept the favor and move on. Repaying debts of gratitude was one of her family’s core mottos.
"A lion? Are you saying the other party is a woman who brought a lion with her?"
As the noblewoman’s bodyguard, keeping his ears open and conducting thorough investigations from all angles was part of his job. He even had to be fully aware of the guests’ identity information. Upon hearing the noblewoman’s description, the image of a certain person and a lion immediately surfaced in his mind.
"Madam, the lion you mentioned—is it the Platinum Giant Lion named Cyril?"
"Yes, how did you know?"
The noblewoman looked at her bodyguard in confusion. Was their savior a famous figure? But on second thought, anyone who could bring a Platinum Giant Lion into the hotel and effortlessly command it to save someone couldn’t possibly be an ordinary person.
"If my guess is correct, the person who saved the young miss should be Miss Liang He. And that Platinum Giant Lion is actually the Imperial Crown Prince."
The Imperial Crown Prince? The noblewoman widened her eyes in astonishment, her face full of disbelief.
"Are you sure? But he..."
Recalling the Platinum Giant Lion’s behavior just moments ago, the noblewoman simply couldn’t connect it to the Imperial Crown Prince.
"As everyone knows, the Imperial Crown Prince is an SSS-level Beastman. Now that he is an adult, I’m afraid he has entered his Evolutionary Stage."
The noblewoman knew about the Evolutionary Stage. With the bodyguard’s reminder, she realized it was indeed highly possible.
"It seems we also need to properly thank His Majesty the King of the Empire."
If the Emperor hadn’t entrusted the Crown Prince to Liang He, how could she have commanded the Crown Prince to save her precious daughter?
"Right, remember to prepare plenty of food for me. This is the thank-you gift I promised the Crown Prince."
"Understood."
The bodyguard readily agreed. However, after hesitating for a long moment, he ultimately informed the noblewoman about the secret romantic pursuit operation, which involved hiding the true nature of Evolutionary Beastmen from Liang He. Although the noblewoman didn’t understand this, she couldn’t well interfere since it was an order from the Federation.
"Mom, look!"
Just as the noblewoman was thinking about taking her daughter for a medical checkup, she saw the little girl leaning over the terrace railing, excitedly pointing at the lawn below. Terrified, the noblewoman hurriedly ran over, picked her up, and pulled her away from the railing.
"Beibei, it’s too dangerous near the railing. You’re still young, so don’t get so close, understand?"
The noblewoman had seen more than enough tragic news reports about children and railings. She absolutely did not want her daughter, whom she had just barely saved from being trampled by the Elephant Group, to face danger again because of her own negligence.
"I know, Mom."
The little girl’s obedient answer brought a relieved smile to the noblewoman’s face as she gently patted her daughter’s head. Only then did she shift her gaze downward. To her immense surprise, she saw a figure riding a fierce beast over the enclosing wall, heading straight toward the Elephant Group.
"Is that... Miss Liang He?"
As for why Liang He was approaching the Elephant Group, the story had to start from when she reunited with Hoder.
"Based on our observations, the Elephant Group is extremely agitated. They seem to be looking for something, which is why they broke into the human activity zone."
It just so happened to be the interstellar breeder training exchange conference. With an abundance of experts and professors engaged in animal research, combined with the presence of highly experienced Breeders, they quickly deduced the reason behind the Elephant Group’s abnormal behavior.
"We suspect that a Little Elephant has gone missing."
President Lucas had immediately rushed over with his people after hearing the commotion. After witnessing Liang He commanding the Platinum Giant Lion to save the child with his own eyes, he had specifically stayed behind to handle the situation with the Elephant Group.
"A missing Little Elephant?"
Liang He furrowed her brows. There could only be three reasons for its disappearance. First, it was hunted by fierce beasts. Second, it accidentally wandered off. Third, poachers had appeared.
The Elephant Group generally moved collectively. Even if fierce beasts wanted to hunt, they couldn’t hide their intent from the herd. Eliminating that factor, only accidental wandering and poachers remained.
"It would be fine if it just accidentally got lost. But if poachers have sneaked onto Greenfield Star, then I’m afraid more than just one Little Elephant will suffer."
Poachers were unscrupulous, cruel, and violent. They would resort to any extreme to make a profit. When it came to a Little Elephant, the most valuable part was undoubtedly its ivory. The more Liang He heard, the deeper her frown became. She could respect the laws of natural survival and the normal development of the ecological food chain, but she absolutely would not allow animals to die at the hands of poachers.
"I want to help them," Liang He declared.
President Lucas and the others, who were discussing countermeasures, all revealed looks of disapproval upon hearing her words.
"How do you plan to help?" President Lucas didn’t want to reject Liang He outright. He needed her to present a practical plan to convince him.
"You all will be in charge of checking the surveillance cameras to see if you can track the Little Elephant’s movements. I will lead them to go find the Little Elephant."
Greenfield Star had very extensive surveillance coverage, which also meant the territory was vast. Pulling up the footage would take time. The Elephant Group didn’t know this, however. They were restless and agitated. They might lose their patience at any moment and directly ram into the enclosing walls. One elephant ramming a wall and an entire herd of elephants ramming a wall were two entirely different things.
"No. The Elephant Group’s emotions are highly unstable right now. If you rashly approach them, you’ll only be throwing your life away."
Liang He was a junior whom Lucas thought highly of. He naturally didn’t want her to take such risks, so he instantly rejected her proposal. But Liang He had always been a person of her own mind. Once she made a decision, no one could change it.
"President Lucas, I am absolutely certain that I will be fine. Please believe me."
Meeting Liang He’s resolute gaze, the words of refusal President Lucas had originally intended to say got choked in his throat. He simply couldn’t bring himself to say them. So, he turned his gaze to Hoder, hoping the man could persuade Liang He.
As it turned out, not only did Hoder not persuade her, but he actually turned around and helped Liang He persuade them.
"If Liang He says she can do it, then she definitely can. The most pressing matter right now is solving the Elephant Group’s problem. Are we really going to wait until they trample the walls and hurt other people before we take action?"
After spending so much time together, Hoder had a solid grasp of Liang He’s capabilities. Especially when it came to her affinity for communicating with animals, he trusted her blindly and didn’t consider this a dangerous move at all. He thought it was a joke to even worry. Even Evolutionary Beastmen obediently submitted to Liang He, so why couldn’t an elephant?
"HRROOO..."
The Elephant Group was already beginning to lose its temper.
"President Lucas, we can’t hesitate any longer!"
