Chapter 1322: Selecting the Candidate(9)

“I did it!” Laney suddenly jumped in joy, ignoring the dark, smelly liquid around her.

The Yellow King noticed the racket and also woke up. When it saw Laney celebrating, it didn’t have to think of the reason that caused it. It then went to Laney and congratulated her using spiritual communication.

Laney calmed down and finally noticed the stench coming from her body. All the harmful toxins she seemed to have accumulated due to eating the Blood Replenishing pills like normal food seemed to have been secreted out.

Laney was still an early Divine Transformation level cultivator and was months away from the breakthrough, but the cultivation art chosen by her was such that it had levels. Clearing each level added strength to the user, and the same happened with Laney when she completed the energy cycle.

She not only felt lighter due to the secretion of all impurities, but she also felt her strength had grown and her energy had also turned slightly purer.

She then called out her maid and ordered her to throw the mat out and clean the room. Laney wanted to go to the store immediately and show her big brother that she didn’t fail his test, but she knew that a fresh bath was necessary.

After giving orders to the maid, she went to the bathroom. One of the maids followed Laney since it was a necessary duty of the maids to help Laney take a bath.

Laney also didn’t stop her maids. None of her maids were below the Divine Being level of cultivation, with the head maid being an early Divine Lord. They would not be put off by the stench emanating from her body.

Phily entered the room and was greeted with the sight of murals, counters, a semi-pillar, and numerous customers.

Phily seemed to be in a rush since his heart was beating loudly for some reason. From the moment he remembered the pinned scene and thought of buying a defensive skill, he was acting like that. Phily understood that to calm down, he needed to find a suitable skill.

He immediately went to the counter for True God level cultivators. Defensive type skills were stored on the second row from the bottom, so he immediately reached out to them.

His destination was the master level shelf, and when he pulled his hand out, it had a new skill card.

Philly was taken aback since in a hurry, he even forgot to think of an element before pulling out the skill. The one he pulled out belonged to the element of earth, which he wasn’t a user of, so it was unnecessary.

Phily didn’t repeat the mistake and thought of the elements of fire and wind since he was a dual user, and he reached out to the shelf, hoping to get a suitable skill for any element.

On his first try, Phily found a suitable defensive skill as he read the details on it.

[Name: Zephyr Veil

Type: Defense

Cultivation Level: Early to Peak True God

Effect: Conjures an ethereal veil of wind that repels all forms of harm

Description: The user channels the serene essence of wind to create an ethereal sanctuary that offers unparalleled defense against all forms of attack. This skill forms a protective cocoon of swirling winds that envelops the user, making them virtually impervious to attacks.

It needs continuous focus. Once out of control, it would attack the user.

Price: Nine hundred ninety-nine higher Sacred stones.]

Phily read the skill details and was impressed with it. Even though its side effects were grave as it would harm the channeler once out of control, Phily found it to be worth taking the risk.

There were still three more levels for the skill, but Phily couldn’t afford them. Even though he was a King, he controlled one of the weakest Kingdoms on the planet Curiel due to being the sole True God in the Kingdom. The land controlled by him was poor in resources, with only a very few Kingdoms able to match the poverty.

But since there was no issue with checking the higher level of the skills, he began to pull them out.

In no time, he had four skill cards of different levels in his hand. Phily then compared the differences between the four levels.

At the Emperor level, the name of the skill had changed, and ‘Veil’ had turned into ‘Sanctuary.’ Phily was disappointed that he couldn’t buy them. Just the Emperor level of skill was more than his wealth, let alone the God level, where even if he sold his Kingdom, he would still be unable to afford it.

Even though the defensive ability of the skill had grown with the increase in level, the side effects had also come down. Emperor level [Zephyr Sanctuary] was an exception to that.

There were severe side effects of the skill, even more dangerous than the master level skill, but Phily found it to be worthy of the abilities it brought. If he had money, he wouldn’t even think twice before choosing the Emperor level [Zephyr Embrace] for himself.

Phily then reluctantly returned the skill cards, only keeping the master level [Zephyr Veil]. Any customer could only buy one skill for each level for each type at a cultivation level, so the master level sale was complete for Phily.

Even though he had acquired the skill, the fast heart-beating continued. It could only mean one thing, he still hadn’t felt secure enough to calm down.

Since the master level skill was out of the question for him, Phily could either go for the King level or lower levels. If Phily splurged, he would be able to afford the King level, but unfortunately for him, he didn’t have that option.

Now that he had relinquished the throne, there would certainly be eyes targeting the Glawkas Kingdom. It was true that he was alive, but his son would still have to deal with other Kings on his own. He could no longer interfere in that, or it would be useless for him to relinquish the throne.
