The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2085: Eryman Meets Rue

Rue stared at the badger and the Legend, along with his ten Supreme Ranked Paladins, all of whom were eating cupcakes as they approached the Guild Hall.

"You said that there are customers," she began.

"These are customer appreciation cupcakes. They want twenty matched Supreme Ranked weapons. Spears, I believe. Then, they’re likely to order more once they realize just how awesome you are.

I don’t know if they wanted Epic or Peerless Grade, but he looks like he might be able to afford twenty Peerless weapons."

The Legend laughed at Cara’s assessment.

"Yes, I probably could, if I emptied out my coffers. But no, I’m not going to spend that much here today. Twenty Epic Grade spears, made to the Supreme Rank for my Paladins would be just fine.

Is that something that you can do?"

Rue nodded. "I will clear it with the others first, but it is something I’m capable of. We have restrictions on selling high powered weapons to strangers, you see."

Eryman nodded. "A prudent precaution. Once you check into my background, you will learn that I’m not a warmongering sort, and I’m neither allied with the New Home Merchant Clan, nor any of their known enemies.

That is neither a help not a hindrance, but I am well known to be fair and impartial."

Rue nodded. She was already well aware of his reputation, and she was the one who was informing the other Supremes of his status, so they could determine if they had a good reason not to sell to him.

He already had twenty Supreme Ranked Paladins on his side, he was no slouch as far as regional powers went, and he was one of the handful of Legends who lived on this world.

After a few seconds, a clear response came back. He was a Paladin, they were all uptight assholes when it came to the rules, so he could be counted on not to immediately backstab them.

That was good enough for everyone else.

"I will make them. Is there any particular skill you want them to focus on? One added to the weapon to make up for something the guards lack? Or would you like them to be a purely combat bonus holy weapon?

We’ve got a Holy Element Divine Smith available in the Guild, and he can make you something that’s appropriate for your group, while I’ll finish the rune work to make it Supreme Ranked."

"That is excellent news. Yes, there is a skill that I would like you to focus on. [Holy Light], the dual purpose attack and healing spell. Do you have anyone who knows the runes to enhance it? I know that you’re not Holy Element, but it’s rare enough that most others won’t know it either." Eryman requested.

Rue nodded. "We have a Stonefur Divine Fox. He knows the skill."

"Of course, having such a rare beast around is a true treasure. If you can make the spears give bonuses to that skill in particular, it would be exactly what my Paladins need. They have all been trained in the skill, and only need gear that will enhance it more than a simply bonus to holy damage or healing.

Then, they will also need to be capable as spears, of course."

Rue nodded. The Legend’s requirements were quite reasonable. Sure, most Guilds wouldn’t be able to do it even if you paid them everything they could wish for. But the Darklight Host could.

Rue thought about the options, then wrote some notes .

"I’m thinking a large bonus to [Holy Light], and then a flat bonus to Holy Element skills, so that it works on both the damage and healing sides, which will stack with the set skill bonus. Top that off with some strength, and perhaps some barrier percentage bonus?

I’m assuming that they normally use a holy barrier in combat."

"And for crowd control," Eryman confirmed.

"Perfect, we’re on the same page, and we will be able to get you your spears in about a week. Would you like to remain in town until then? We can provide you a private room, in a separate space, so nobody comes to bother you.

It would allow your Paladins to get some practice in the Dungeon, or perhaps to hone their skills in the arena.

There is a tournament coming up soon."

Eryman smiled back at her, "Oh, a tournament? What are the rules?"

"We’ve got two categories, with five groups. Spirit, Void, Ascended, Peak and Supreme. We will do both individual and pairs duels. Individual ones are fun, but the pairs, that’s where the real fun is.

During the official tournament, it’s fighter’s choice. But after the official matches, we will do a special prize round, where the partners are drawn at random by a Chaos Badger. The winner s get a piece of Peerless Grade gear for each of them."

The Paladins standing behind the Legend chuckled. That was one surefire way to get people to go along with your crazy schemes.

Give them gear as good as the actual matches.

It would also be a huge hit with the crowds, since the groups were random, so you never knew what the next pairing would be up against. If you got a truly unique combination, you might actually start a new dungeon group, simply by letting them experience the other’s skills.

"I heard that your dungeon has variable difficulty?" Eryman asked.

"Five options, one through five. Most groups do two or three, you pretty much need a full group in Epic Gear to do four, and five gets sketchy unless you’ve got advanced classes that are particularly well suited to the dungeon that you get."

"That you get?"

"The dungeon is also randomized. After you pick a difficulty, it picks a dungeon interior and theme for you that is at that difficulty level."

The Paladians gave a low whistle of appreciation for the dungeon. That sort of setup would never get old.

They were going to have to get the boss to arrange a portal here more often.
