The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2084: Is A Customer?

Eryman considered his options.

Now that he knew where they were, he also knew how to get there. He didn’t have a direct portal to the Darklight Host, but he knew that there were others who had made alliances with a Guild near them.

He couldn’t confirm that it was the Darklight Host, but if it wasn’t he could still get close enough that he would be able to rapidly move to the craftsmen’s location before an uproar started about his presence.

He would have to smooth that over later.

Of course, if Eryman knew that they had just brought a Legendary Green Dragon into the town for a week and had him help with crafting, all his reluctance to go directly to them would have vanished.

It was only when Clans were short on power that their begging and shamelessness became a real issue for the Legends who passed through.

Those who had connections didn’t need to bother him for things.

"Gather ten of the guards, we are going to meet the Darklight Host. I want their Supreme Ranked Runemaster to make weapons for the team. If we can get that, we can keep our influence over the idiots that keep trying to make me Pope.

I do not need that level of headache."

The guard laughed silently behind his visor as he saluted his boss.

"Yes, Your Eminence. We will be ready to move in ten minutes."

Bringing half the guard was enough that it would give the region protection while he was there as Eryman wasn’t certain how far the troubles had spread. Probably not as far as the New Home Merchant Clan, they were one of the most subtle and agreeable groups in the region.

But if it pulled the Almeixei Sect in, then there was no telling how much of a headache it would be.

"Do we have any more intelligence on the situation in the region?"

"No, Your Eminence. There is too much fighting between here and there to effectively determine the level of threat and alliance involvement. The best guess is that it does not involve the very southeastern regions yet, but that may not remain true for long.

The battles are spreading too quickly."

Eryman nodded. That was the same information that he had gotten from others, so he wasn’t surprised that every new report simply told him the same thing.

The guards rushed in, well ahead of the ten minute timer, and saluted Eryman in unison.

They were already aware of the plan, no need to tell grown men a second time, so he simply waved them forward to the portal array in the castle, and headed for an ally of the Church who had a portal to a city near the New Home Merchant Clan.

They had just opened it, using a rare magical item, so there was a good chance that it led exactly where he needed to be.

He just needed to get through the portal before he was hung up with a gala, a dinner, and a welcoming debutante event, to try to match their new generation with his perpetually single Paladins.

They didn’t take a vow of celibacy, though at this point, some might pretend that they did, just to make people stop bothering them.

The portal was opened by the staff, and the group moved through, intending to find someone to open them the next portal to their destination. Only, they found that it was already open, and manned by staff who were charging a fee to pass through.

So, they simply walked right up to the stunned portal guards, handed over a small bag of gold and kept moving.

No questions, no delays.

The first thing that they saw when they passed through the portal was a mugging. No, a reverse mugging? A small girl with round black ears was stuffing things in people’s pockets.

Cara turned around when she sensed the powerful people coming, and made preparations to add Legendary Paladin to her taste test menu.

Eryman froze as he sensed the badger’s attention on him.

"Did you need something from me?" He asked curiously.

Cara nodded eagerly. "Hold out your hand, clean side up."

Confused, Eryman complied, just to see what the girl wanted. Then he froze as the badger licked him, and made a humming noise, as if cataloging him.

"Interesting, humans don’t change flavour at Legendary. Dragons do. Demons do too. But humans only taste like more intense Supremes at Legendary. That completely changes my assumptions about the progression of power."

"You’re trying to discern the subtle differences between a Legend and a Supreme when you are still barely into the Ascended Immortal stage?"

Cara nodded. "Yep. Among other things. Thank you for your cooperation. Is there anything that I can help you with? I can show you around our city, perhaps take you to a clothing store? Those silk cloaks could use an upgrade, and we’ve got tailors on hand that can do the custom embroidery same day."

Eryman frowned. The cloaks were just ceremonial items, a decoration to mark them as members of the church, they weren’t intended to be a powerful magical artifact.

No matter their personal power level, the cloaks were assigned by Rank within the church.

"No, the cloaks are fine. Perhaps, you could lead us to someone who does Runecrafting and can make Supreme Rank weapons? We would like to commission twenty Epic Grade Spears."

Cara beamed a smile at him. "Oh! I thought that you were here for the dungeon. If you’re a customer, that’s even easier, just follow me and I will call Rue over to see what she can do for you."

Eryman paused. "Rue Gathuzan? The former Clan Leader?"

"One and the same. She learned Runecrafting recently, but she’s a natural, and she can definitely get you what you need. Plus, we have whole teams of smiths on standby, in case you want matching weapons."

"Indeed. Twenty identical ones, with stats as close as possible to each other. They’re for my personal guards."

"I like you. Have a cupcake."
