The Fire Of Divinity
Chapter 58: Abnormal Stats.
No one could hear the clouds talking to themselves either. Only this giant with a red flame where his cloud should be could see and hear the other clouds.
“Interesting. Very interesting indeed. If I didn’t see it myself, I wouldn’t believe it,” the giant said in awe.
“They are copies of the same mind. No wonder they can wrestle for control of the same body.”
“One mind is experienced and has a higher Memory Attribute, while the other is young with a lesser Memory Attribute, so it is clear which mind is the original and which belongs to the worm.”
“It is already impressive that the original mind is this dense. What did he experience that makes his mind so dense? Is it a talent?”
“And there is this second mind. A worm shouldn’t have a developed mind unless it ate the original mind. Yet, the original mind is right there. So how did the worm get enough mental resources to grow?”
“Is the worm special somehow? This might be tricky. With this level of potential, the probability of losing control is very high.”
“And why hasn’t the worm eaten his mind yet? Since it is strong enough to match the original mind, it should be able to eat it. What is it waiting for?”
The giant touched his aching head and said, “There are just too many anomalies.”
“The tricky part is that I can’t ask him, or he will do that mental withdrawal thing he did before. Could it be that he is the reincarnation of some powerful Tyrant?”
“I need to find out. Fortunately, there is a way to find out.”
As they tried to figure out what made Alexander special, they went up to him and swept him with their eyes. Their foot stomped the ground, making it vibrate as if someone were hitting it with a hammer. But no one heard the sound.
They walked over to Alexander and scanned every part of his body with their glowing eyes. Even though the giant towered over him and a strange light swept across his body, Alexander kept swinging the axe, oblivious.
When they finished scanning him, information about him appeared in their vision. The giant sorted through the information, looking for what they wanted most.

To make sure he wasn’t seeing things, Lord Bane turned his eyes to Barnabas, who was some distance away, and scanned him from head to toe.

After seeing this, Lord Bane turned to Alexander again and said, “So he is definitely abnormal. His body is too strong, and his Memory Attribute has even broken the limit of Rank 2. Now I have to find out what’s going on.”
After making up his mind, Lord Bane said to Alexander, “Look at me.”
Alexander stopped what he was doing and turned towards the source of the voice. When he saw the giant standing so close to him, he fell backward on his ass.
“What the fuck?” he asked, shocked, confused, and frightened.
Lord Bane ignored his question and said, “Calm down and shut up.”
Alexander shut up immediately. Not only that, his eyes became unfocused and glazed over.
Seeing this, Lord Bane nodded in satisfaction and said, “Tell me. What is your name?”
“Alexander,” he replied woodenly.
“Where were you born?”
“New York City.”
“I’ve never heard of that. Where is this New York?” Lord Bane asked with a frown.
Alexander said without hesitation, “United States of America.”
“United States of America? Sounds unfamiliar. I guess he migrated here. It doesn’t matter anyway,” Lord Bane muttered.
Then they asked him, “Why is the mind of your worm so powerful? What did you do to make it copy your mind without sacrificing your mind?”
For the first time, Alexander hesitated to answer. His glazed eyes became animated once again, and he began to struggle.
In the cloud representing his mind, the previously gentle flow became turbulent. The white cloud churned as if something beneath it was struggling to get out.
The turn of events made Lord Bane frown deeper and say, “This is not him trying to think to give me the answer. This is him resisting because he is threatened.”
“What could threaten his life about that question? I must know,” they said, determined.
The red flame above them flared brighter, producing light that suppressed the turbulent clouds. As soon as the light touched it, the cloud began to boil.
It seemed to resist the light’s invasion, but it failed. The light saturated the white cloud, turning it yellow.
After the cloud turned yellow, it calmed down and became gentle once more. Seeing this, Lord Bane nodded in satisfaction and smiled.
As they smiled, they said, “What a stubborn mind. But he is still a mortal. He is no match for a Tyrant.”
Then they asked again, “Why is the mind of your worm so powerful?”
Alexander replied woodenly, “I don’t know.”
Furious, Lord Bane said, “Why don’t you know? What are you hiding from me?”
“I don’t know,” Alexander said again.
Unwilling to give up, Lord Bane turned to the worm and asked, “Tell me what I want to know, or I will incinerate you right now.”
“Please don’t kill me. I will say it. I’ll say it,” the worm pleaded.
“I tried to eat his mind, but I failed. Then my mind began to grow.”
They didn’t directly influence the worm’s mind as they had with Alexander’s. Even so, the worm answered without hesitation.
But Lord Bane didn’t trust it. To make sure it was speaking the truth, they imposed their will on its mind and said, “Think back clearly. Go back to your first memories and tell me everything that happened step by step.”
