The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 2848: You Can Be Unwilling to Lose, but You Must Admit It!
"Mr. Jaramillo, this time you might just lose, hahaha!"
On the competition stage, the skinny Grayan Darlington smugly patted the Black Cloud Soul Iron in front of him, provocatively raising his chin at Jorren Jaramillo across from him.
The two had dueled many times and knew each other well. Grayan Darlington was naturally very aware that his Purple Heart Lotus Fire had a stability advantage over Jorren Jaramillo’s Nine Solar Spiritual Fire. As long as he didn’t make a mistake, he was likely to win.
Jorren Jaramillo laughed heartily: "Aren’t you worried that you’ll be eating your words later if you lose? At that point, it’ll be hard to save face."
Grayan Darlington sneered: "Eating my words? How much weight do you carry? Do you think I don’t know? You know all too well the stability of your Nine Solar Spiritual Fire. What do you have to win against me with? Headbutting?"
Jorren Jaramillo laughed heartily: "We won’t know until we compete."
Grayan Darlington showed a suspicious expression. Both were old foxes who knew each other well. Jorren Jaramillo’s confidence hinted that he had a trick up his sleeve, aiming to give Grayan a heavy blow and embarrass him.
What trump card does Jorren Jaramillo have?
The stability of the Nine Solar Spiritual Fire is subpar, so the crafted materials would definitely be inferior to those crafted with the Purple Heart Lotus Fire. The overall quality of the magical treasure would be slightly lower - perhaps not by much, but enough to determine victory or defeat.
How could he possibly win?
Could it be that he has acquired a better refining flame than the Nine Solar Spiritual Fire?
Grayan Darlington asked suspiciously: "Did you get your hands on a better miraculous fire?"
Jorren Jaramillo slightly squinted his eyes and responded with a cheerful grin: "Is it so easy to get a miraculous fire?"
Grayan Darlington stared at Jorren Jaramillo: "Then why are you so confident?"
Jorren Jaramillo laughed heartily: "You’ll know once it’s over."
Grayan Darlington gazed suspiciously for a few moments, then suddenly relaxed: "You sly old fox, using psychological tactics to disturb me, hoping I’ll be so distracted during refining that I’ll make mistakes. Haha, I didn’t expect you to resort to this."
Jorren Jaramillo chuckled. Although he had the Phoenix Fire, he did intend to use such a tactic. If his opponent doubted himself, there might be mistakes during the refining process - unlikely but possible. After all, psychological tactics cost nothing.
"Please prepare both sides."
Jorren Jaramillo chuckled once more and moved to his spot in the competition. Grayan Darlington, despite his doubts, remained silent.
The competition began!
Both were crafting a simple magical treasure – a small shield.
The materials were all of superior grade, crafted by Grandmasters, comparable in quality to a Superior Spiritual Treasure. The defensive capabilities were top-notch.
Without further ado, they dived right into crafting.
The refining only lasted for most of the day, finishing before sunset.
Both parties were shielded from each other’s view to avoid interference, so neither could see the other’s actions or the refining flame used.
The two small shields were unveiled, shimmering faintly, seemingly identical with no apparent differences.
"Commence the defense test."
The referees began testing by having several Peak Great Land True Immortals take to the skies, unleashing their magical treasures to attack the shields.
The sound of impacts thundered like an angry deity smiting the mortal world, grand and imposing.
"Clang!"
One shield’s light suddenly dulled and, struck by immense force, was sent flying, colliding with a massive mountain which exploded into pieces!
Amidst the gasps, Grayan Darlington’s face turned pale.
The shield that was dimmed and sent flying was the one he crafted!
How is this possible?
Unwilling to accept it, he looked up at the sky, only to see the remaining shield’s light dim and it, too, was sent careening to the ground.
Grayan Darlington’s expression was grim. Though Jorren Jaramillo’s crafted treasure didn’t hold out much longer than his, even a moment longer proved that the opponent’s crafted treasure was of higher quality!
Fending off the same assault, the one that failed first was, without a doubt, of lower quality.
He turned his head abruptly, glaring at Jorren Jaramillo: "There was no mistake in my crafting; the quality shouldn’t lose to your Nine Solar Spiritual Fire. Did you indeed acquire a better refining flame?"
Jorren Jaramillo laughed heartily, revealing the Phoenix Fire with a wave, delight evident in his expression: "Even the heavens favored me. I told you—the bigger your boast, the more it hurts after the competition. Was I wrong?"
Grayan Darlington locked eyes on the Phoenix Fire: "What kind of miraculous fire is that?"
Jorren Jaramillo waved away the Phoenix Fire, smiling faintly: "That’s none of your concern. Just know you’ve lost!"
Grayan Darlington was so agitated by Jorren’s glee that he bit down on his molars, but he had no retort; after all, he had lost.
Losing could make one unwilling and angry, but denial wasn’t an option!
Grayan Darlington huffed: "Fine, chalk it up to your good luck this time. I concede!"
