Chapter 213 day before her birthday

Then she brought out more of her most valuable gemstones.

That caught the shop owner’s attention as well. She came over to take a look and asked me, "Hello, sir. What kind of gemstone are you looking for?"

I thought about it for a moment before saying, "A gemstone that can be worn as a necklace."

"My only requirement is that it needs to be elegant."

She nodded and brought me to the VIP section, showing me many of them.

I looked through them, but none really caught my attention. Then she showed me the most expensive gemstone in the entire shop.

I looked at it and decided that this wasn’t what I was looking for.

I shook my head. "No, it doesn’t match her."

The shop owner’s eyes gleamed as she asked, "May I know what kind of gift it is?"

I answered directly, "It’s a birthday gift for my fiancée."

"She doesn’t care about expensive stuff, so I need to make it memorable."

The shop owner nodded as we browsed through many gemstones. None caught my eye. The only one that did was already reserved, so I couldn’t do anything about it.

So I nodded to them, ready to leave, when I noticed a simple necklace with a crescent moon on it.

My eyes immediately went to it, and I pointed at it.

"Hey, that one. I need it. How much?"

The owner, who had been looking down because of the lost business, immediately perked up when she saw the necklace I was pointing at.

However, this time, it wasn’t that she had recovered. The necklace was extremely expensive.

The shop owner stammered a little. "But, sir, this..."

I looked at her with a probing gaze. "Is this one reserved too?"

She immediately shook her head and replied, "It’s not that..."

"It’s just that this material is extremely precious, so its cost is way above the normal rate. I put this here as an exhibition item."

My eyes twitched as I thought, Exhibition...? What a waste. Such a beautiful necklace.

So I immediately said, "Price doesn’t matter. Let me check it."

"I want to see the material."

Just because I have money doesn’t mean I’m a sucker. If this material doesn’t meet my expectations, I won’t buy it.

She immediately nodded and brought out the necklace. I looked at it and could sense that this wasn’t an ordinary material.

There was something about it, so I asked, "May I know what this material is?"

She smiled as she explained, "The main crescent moon emblem is made from a material called Tanzanite. It’s so rare that only a few pieces like this have ever been made."

"I can guarantee that this is one of a kind. It only exists here."

I examined the necklace further and confirmed that her words were truthful.

I quite liked it as well, so I told her, "Okay, I’m going to buy it."

Her eyes widened as she gave me the price.

"It’s 50 million credits, sir."

The whole shop fell silent as she announced the number.

I simply nodded. "Hmm. Where do I pay?"

Her eyes widened as I casually agreed to buy a 50-million-credit necklace as if I were buying groceries.

She entered the amount and gave me a machine. I tapped my bracelet against it.

Beep...

A sound appeared as the payment went through.

Everyone in the shop watched as they held their breath. Then the remaining balance in my bank account appeared, and I saw those endless zeros again.

My eyes twitched as I looked at it.

How much did Mom and the others send me?

I smiled wryly as I took the necklace. "Well then, I’ll take my leave."

She nodded in a dreamlike state.

But I remembered the person who had shown me around at first, so I went over to her and gave her a tip.

It wasn’t much, just a gold coin.

She immediately thanked me, but I simply waved my hand.

"No problem. Thank you for your help."

Then I asked her to pack the gift as nicely as possible for a birthday present.

She nodded and began the packaging process.

She placed the necklace inside a beautiful crafted box and tried to decorate it.

But I stopped her.

"On second thought, that’s enough. Too much decoration will ruin it."

She nodded and handed me the box.

Then I exited the shop and walked towards the resting place while whistling.

I noticed some of the people who had witnessed my purchase following me.

I got a little annoyed, but I continued walking and gave a signal to the only guard protecting me at the moment.

"Don’t kill them. Just make sure they can’t bother me."

She nodded.

Before she could do anything, I added, "Don’t hurt them badly. It’s unnecessary."

Then I continued walking at a steady pace as a chilling aura spread behind me. All the people following me immediately ran away.

I nodded with satisfaction.

Then something caught my eye: a teddy bear shop.

I got a nice idea, so I went there. I looked around and searched for a teddy bear that matched Luna’s theme. Eventually, I found a pure white one.

It was almost the same size as me.

So I went to the counter, paid for it, and put it in my space storage.

"Okay, birthday gift secured."

Only a few days were left until her birthday.

Now I was ready. As I returned to my room, I saw Luna standing there, watching my sneaky figure as I returned.

She smiled and waved at me, but that smile sent chills down my spine.

"Oh, Gray. It seems you had lots of fun without me, huh?"

I gulped.

Why do I feel like a cheating husband who just got caught by his wife right now?

Must be my bizarre imagination.

I stammered, "Aaa... About that, I went to see the city for a bit."

She narrowed her eyes as she looked at me. "Huh? Is that so?"

I nodded vigorously as she came closer and said, "So you didn’t think about mentioning it to me so I could come too?"

A bead of sweat rolled down my face.

Just give me a dragon to kill. That’s easier than this.

I said to her, "I thought you were tired after the long journey, so I didn’t want to bother you."

Her eyes twitched as she laughed. "Oh, Gray, you have to find a better excuse than that to fool me."

"I knew something sneaky was going on the moment you started thinking deeply in the carriage."

Then she pouted and said, "Just you wait. I’ll find out soon enough. Humph!"

I smiled wryly as I said, "Hmm. You’ll find out soon, but not today."

With that, I disappeared into my room.

She looked at that and stamped her foot on the ground.

"Just you wait! I’ll find out!"

Then she returned to her room as well to sleep.

She slept with a smile on her lips.

She’s going to find out sooner or later, she thought before falling into a deep sleep.

She needed to find out what kind of silly thing I was hiding from her.

I went to my room and took a shower as well.

"Ahh, she’s so perceptive."

But she’ll never find out until her birthday.

Then I changed into comfortable clothes, jumped onto the bed, and slept like a log.

The next day, I said to her, "Let’s enjoy the city for a few days."

She nodded as well, then glared at me.

"Like how you went to enjoy the city alone?"

I flinched at that as I whistled, trying to brush off her jab.

Her eyes twitched, but I had thick skin when it came to these kinds of things, so I faced her probing glare.

Then we travelled around the city and enjoyed ourselves as we visited many places together.

I spotted the shop where I had bought the necklace, so I distracted Luna by showing her a street game stall.

Her eyes brightened as she saw it.

Then we both rushed over and participated in the game.

It was a game where we had to throw a ball at a target.

Luna took the ball as I reminded her, "Hey, hold back your strength, or else there won’t be a stall left to play at."

Luna almost stumbled as she tried to control the strength in her body.

If that ball hit the target, the least of our worries would be the target itself. The entire stall would be saying bye-bye!

She smiled awkwardly as she held back most of her strength.

Then she threw the ball.

It went flying and hit the prize.

As she celebrated and took the main prize, the stall owner’s face scrunched up because Luna had won on her first try.

But he caught a glimpse of Luna’s face, and all his bitterness vanished into thin air.

He gave her the first prize with a smile.

That’s how we spent the next few days, until the night before Luna’s birthday.
