The Extra who regained his past life memories
Chapter 205 - adventure guild test 1
I ran while smiling at her.
She didn’t give up and kept chasing me. However, as the clever person I was, I ran straight to the Adventurer’s Guild and stood at the entrance.
Surely, she wouldn’t hit me here in public... right?
I had severely underestimated her.
She didn’t care that we were in public. She immediately hit me on the head—not too hard, but just enough to vent her annoyance.
"Hmph! Do you think I’ll stop just because you’ve come here? That’s the old me. This is the new me!"
She looked at me smugly.
I rubbed my head.
"Ahh, what happened to your princess-like elegance? Did it jump out the window?"
She replied proudly, "At this moment, nobody knows I’m a princess, so why should I act like one? Besides, I’ve realized something. Why should I care about what other people think?"
"So what if they find out I’m a princess? I don’t care!"
She looked like a little hamster.
I looked at her and laughed.
"Okay, okay, I surrender! Let’s go and get your adventurer card."
Her eyes lit up, and everything else seemed to disappear from her mind.
We entered the Adventurer’s Guild in the city. The place was bustling with people, filled with the laughter and chatter of fellow adventurers.
We ignored everyone and headed straight toward the reception desk.
The receptionist saw two hooded figures approaching. Since it was perfectly normal for adventurers to conceal their appearances, she didn’t seem particularly surprised.
She smiled and asked, "How can I help you two? Have you chosen a mission, or have you come to submit one?"
I spoke up.
"Oh, no. We have a few questions, if that’s all right with you."
She smiled and nodded.
"Certainly. Ask away."
I pointed toward Luna and began explaining.
"First of all, she’s not an adventurer yet. Today is the first day she’s registering. Our current strength is around C-Rank, so taking on lower-ranked missions would be a hassle. What can we do about that?"
She nodded with a professional smile.
"That’s not a problem at all. You can undergo an evaluation to qualify as C-Rank adventurers."
"As long as you demonstrate that you possess the necessary strength, your rank can be upgraded even if you register today."
Then she hesitated for a moment.
I frowned.
Is there a catch?
She continued, "The problem is that it will cost you quite a lot of money."
I sighed.
"Oh, so money is the problem? Then it’s fine. I’ve never lacked money."
She looked slightly surprised, while Luna remembered my bank account and its seemingly endless balance.
The receptionist smiled and handed Luna a form.
"Here. Fill this out and return it to me. Then you can apply for the adventurer rank evaluation."
Luna accepted the form, while I looked at the receptionist again.
"Can I undergo an evaluation too? I already have an adventurer ID. I think I was eight or nine years old when my sister made it for me."
The receptionist’s eyes twitched.
"Eight years old? That’s the minimum age for adventurer registration!"
I nodded as I took out my adventurer ID and handed it to her.
She read the information, and her face gradually turned pale.
Adventurer ID
Name: Gray Starlight
Rank: E-Rank
Special Identification Issued by the Starlight Family
She stared at the ID card, which practically screamed Super VIP, before looking at me.
Then she stopped Luna from filling out the form and invited us into a room reserved for extremely important guests.
The Adventurer’s Guild might be neutral, but this branch was located in Starlight Territory. How could they dare to ignore a specially identified member of the Starlight Family?
I simply shrugged and followed her into the room.
There was a comfortable sofa, so Luna and I both took a seat.
As soon as we sat down, Luna extended her hand toward me.
I could only sigh as I handed her the orange juice I’d prepared for her.
She nodded with a happy smile, removed her cloak, and began enjoying her drink.
The receptionist looked at her with growing surprise as she saw her appearance.
Then she said, "I’ll call someone to discuss your situation."
We nodded. I removed my own cloak, took out a packet of chips, and began eating.
However, as I continued munching, I noticed that my chips were disappearing much faster than I could eat them.
I could clearly see someone stealing them while drinking her orange juice.
I simply let her be.
Soon, another woman entered the room and took a seat opposite us.
Luna and I looked at her as she introduced herself.
"Hello! It’s nice to meet you. I’m the person in charge of this branch of the Adventurer’s Guild."
I nodded and introduced myself.
"Hello! It’s nice to meet you, too. My name is Gray Starlight."
She nodded with a smile, and Luna introduced herself as well.
"My name is Luna von Valtherion."
That immediately caught the branch manager’s attention.
"Valtherion...?"
Luna nodded.
"Hmm."
The manager hesitated before asking, "Are you related to the royal family?"
Luna nodded with a smile.
"Yes. The current Empress is my mother."
The branch manager’s head practically spun as she processed this new information.
She had come to handle a high-ranking member of the Starlight Family, only to discover that she also had a princess to deal with!
Then Luna asked, "So, can I get an adventurer card?"
The manager nodded with a forced smile.
"Of course! Of course! I’ll immediately arrange everything for you."
Then she hesitated.
"However, you’ll still need to undergo the evaluation."
Luna nodded with a smile.
"Of course! I’d love to!"
The branch manager let out a massive sigh of relief as things seemed to be going smoothly.
However, before she could leave, I remembered something and called out to her.
"Didn’t you need her information for the adventurer card?"
She blinked, then nodded.
"Since you’re a princess, we’ll make sure the entire process goes smoothly. Just fill out the usual information."
She was clearly determined to ensure that nothing went wrong. She treated both of us with the utmost respect.
However, I suspected that part of the reason she was being so respectful was that we were treating her respectfully in return. She could probably tell that we simply wanted to finish our business without causing any trouble.
Luna received a new form and filled it out within a few minutes, her elegant handwriting covering the page.
After submitting it, I asked, "Where do we pay for the C-Rank evaluation?"
The branch manager looked at us in surprise.
"C-Rank?"
I nodded.
She didn’t question us any further. Instead, she answered directly.
"It costs 10,000 credits per person, or one gold coin."
I nodded and asked her where we needed to pay, adding that we would be paying for two people.
She showed us a payment machine.
I simply used my bracelet to complete the payment, and the remaining balance appeared on the screen.
I took one look at the number and immediately looked away.
Nope. I’m not reading that.
The branch manager confirmed that the payment had gone through. She sighed in relief, but when she noticed the remaining balance in my account, her eyes twitched.
Nevertheless, she maintained her polite smile.
"All right, then. I’ll personally oversee your evaluations today."
We nodded.
Then she asked, "May I know whether you’re a swordsman or a mage?"
We smiled and replied, "Both. We use swords and magic at the same time."
She nodded. It wasn’t particularly unusual among high-ranking nobles.
Then she said, "First, we need to test your mana levels to confirm your C-Rank qualification. Please follow me."
Luna and I exchanged glances and nodded.
However, before we stepped outside, I stopped her.
"Hey, can I ask you something?"
She paused mid-step and turned toward me.
No matter where you went, appearance played a significant role.
The moment she saw my face, her expression softened.
"Of course! Ask me anything. I’ll answer to the best of my abilities."
I scratched my head and asked, "It’s not a big deal, but can I know whether other people will be present when we take the test?"
"We don’t really want to attract attention. We’re traveling, so it would be a little troublesome. That’s why we’re wearing our cloaks."
She smiled brightly.
"Don’t worry about that. I’ll ensure your privacy. No one will bother you here, and apart from authorized Adventurer’s Guild personnel, no one is allowed to observe another member’s evaluation."
I nodded and sighed in relief.
"That’s a relief."
Luna nodded as well, and we followed the branch manager.
We are escorted to a traning room.
Luna look at me and ask "what do you think is the test this time."
