Chapter 204 - went to take the adventure card

Luna’s sword met the monster, but unlike Lily’s attacks, her blade didn’t get blocked. She used her full power, too excited to hold back.

There was a little resistance, but her Ice Aura turned it into nothing. Her sword cut through the dragon’s arm as easily as cutting through paper.

As soon as her attack ended, the dragon’s arm separated from its body, and the area where it had been attached froze over.

Luna didn’t stop. She needed to test her full power, so she looked at the monster, which was of the same rank as her—or perhaps slightly higher—and her smirk widened.

She loved fighting. It wasn’t the kill that interested her, but how her attacks affected her opponents and what kinds of effects she could create. She didn’t care about killing someone unless they were people she hated.

However, until now, she hadn’t found anyone who had earned her hatred. There were only people who got on her nerves, and she could simply remove them from the world if she wanted to.

This time, she didn’t combine her elements. Instead, she used pure Ice Aura and augmented herself with Light and Moon Energy before slashing vertically at the monster.

She poured everything she had into that attack. Her sword responded to her will because it was a bonded weapon.

Thanks to her class, her will had an additional effect: it could influence and alter her attacks.

She took full advantage of this, making her attack extraordinarily powerful. That single slash was enough to kill the monster completely.

The dragon was cut in two. Her Ice Aura sliced through it as easily as a blade cutting through paper.

The two halves of the monster fell to the ground, its eyes wide open. Not even a drop of blood flowed from its body. Both halves were completely frozen.

Lily watched from a distance, her mouth hanging open.

"Wow! She killed it as if it posed no danger to her at all!"

Her master was equally surprised by the demonstration of power, but she spoke up.

"It’s not that simple, my disciple. Look at her strength. She has trained extensively to use her power effectively instead of relying on raw power alone."

"As for that attack, she used a great deal of mana, and you had already injured the monster. From the beginning, it never stood a chance against her."

"But there’s no denying that her power is one of the most impressive displays I’ve ever witnessed. There were no flashy moves or wasted energy. And there’s something strange about her Ice Power. It’s different from anyone else’s, even that boy’s."

"She also used her will to shape her attack. That’s a much higher level of control, something you’ll learn later when you become stronger and develop your own will."

Lily nodded.

"Hmm, that’s amazing."

Her eyes lit up.

Luna sheathed her sword and unsummoned it before coming over to me.

"See? I protected you. Are you satisfied with my protection?"

I looked at her and laughed.

"Oh, you protected me, huh? But it looked more like you just wanted to test your power."

She puffed out her cheeks.

"Hmph! That’s how I protect you! Don’t be ungrateful. You should feel honored to be protected by a princess like me!"

She stood there looking utterly smug.

I tapped her forehead with my finger.

"Oh, yeah, yeah. I’m so honored."

She glared at me as we returned to Lily’s side.

"Okay, go and get the loot. We don’t need it."

Lily looked at us hesitantly, but after remembering our status, she seemed to realize that we really didn’t need the rewards.

So she nodded happily and went to collect them.

We simply looked toward the dungeon exit as I asked, "Where do you think we’ll end up when we leave?"

"What if we end up in the Demon Continent? We’d be doomed."

Luna laughed at that.

"Then our only choice would be to summon Mom or Aunt Seraphina to return home."

I could already imagine my mother’s expression when she discovered that we’d somehow ended up in the Demon Continent.

Beside us, the mage woman pointed at herself.

"Hey! Did you two forget about me? I’m a powerful mage in my own right!"

We looked at her for a few moments before ignoring her.

"Nah, you aren’t suitable. If Mom finds out we entrusted our safety to an old woman, I’ll get into trouble."

She glared at me while Luna burst out laughing.

Then Lily returned after collecting all the loot.

We exited the dungeon together. I had been hoping to end up somewhere mysterious, somewhere that would satisfy my curiosity.

However, the most logical place to hope for was somewhere safe that we already knew.

But when I looked at Luna, her eyes were glimmering with excitement.

Ahhh, she’s an exact copy of me.

I could feel the space around us changing at a catastrophic level.

A moment later, I sensed that we had appeared in a different location. Looking around, I realized we were in a forest.

I asked, "Where are we? Are we still on the Human Continent?"

The mage woman nodded.

"Yeah, we’re still on the Human Continent."

Both Luna’s and my expressions fell.

The mage woman looked at us speechlessly, probably wondering why we seemed disappointed to learn that we were still on the Human Continent.

I looked toward the road and said, "Let’s go, Luna. We’ll find the nearest city and figure out exactly where we are."

She nodded.

Then we turned to Lily and her master.

"It was nice traveling with you. We’ll take our leave now."

They nodded. They knew we were traveling together because we wanted our freedom, so they didn’t insist on tagging along.

They waved at us.

"Safe travels! It was a pleasure meeting you two. I hope we’ll meet again at the academy."

I smiled and nodded, while Luna also spoke up.

"Hmm, let’s meet at the academy."

Then we started moving along the road.

It was nice meeting them, but we couldn’t travel together forever. That would interfere with our adventure.

We walked side by side along the road, putting on our cloaks once again.

Our speed felt abysmal, so we decided to speed up. Luna’s speed was as amazing as ever, but I had no trouble keeping up with her or even surpassing her.

However, I maintained the same pace as her.

She unsummoned her armor and returned to wearing her simple clothes.

Soon, we spotted a city at the end of the road. My eyes lit up, and I sped toward it. Luna also increased her speed.

We entered the city through the main gate after paying a few credits.

However, I couldn’t help asking the man in charge of the entrance, "Could you tell me which city this is? We’re adventuring, so..."

The man nodded in understanding.

"Oh, this is Duskfall City. It’s part of Starlight Territory."

My eyes lit up.

"Oh, really? That’s amazing! Thank you for the information."

He nodded, looking a little baffled by my reaction.

We entered the city, and I opened the map to show Luna our location.

"We’re here. We’re even close to your home, the Royal Palace."

Luna nodded and asked, "So, what are we going to do now?"

I looked at her and asked, "Do you have an adventurer ID?"

She shook her head.

"No, I’ve never signed up."

I nodded in understanding.

"How about we get one for you and then take on a slightly harder dungeon?"

She placed a finger on her chin and pondered for a moment.

"Hmm, but how can we accept a higher-rank mission? We’re rookies."

I simply shrugged.

"You can get evaluated by the Adventurer’s Guild and rank up your adventurer card."

Her eyes lit up.

"Hmm, that’s an amazing idea! Let’s go! Why didn’t you say this earlier?"

I scratched my head awkwardly.

"Ahh, would you believe me if I said I forgot about it?"

She giggled.

"Oh, yes, I believe you. No matter what, I know you..."

I scratched my head again.

"Hey, what do you mean? You’re putting me into a category as if I’m an irresponsible person!"

She raised an eyebrow.

"Isn’t that what you are?"

A black line appeared on my forehead.

"I’m not! I’m a responsible person who takes my tasks very seriously! Hmph!"

She laughed.

"Sure you are. I’d be surprised if you didn’t fall asleep while doing your tasks."

"You only take things seriously when your family is involved or when it’s someone you care about. Otherwise, you’re just a slacker."

My eyes widened.

"Hey! You’re talking as if you’re any better!"

"You put on the front of a diligent princess who works harder than anyone else and is completely unapproachable."

"But inside, you’re just a clumsy person who’s addicted to orange juice!"

She glared at me, so I added, "And you’re pure evil."

Her eyes widened.

"Say that again! I dare you!"

I looked at her with a half-smile and said, "Evil Princess."

The moment I said it, I took off running because she immediately chased after me, ready to hit me.

"Gray! Stop right there! You won’t escape from me!"

I laughed as I called back, "We’ll see about that, Evil Princess! Look at you! You resort to violence at the drop of a hat!"
