Chapter 2438: Under the orders of the Dark Blood Kingdom!
A solemn light appeared in Cain’s eyes as he felt the nature of the golden flames.
They did not simply burn.
They accelerated.
The flames agitated particles, forcing them into violent motion, making matter vibrate faster and faster, pushing everything toward a state of hyperactivity.
That granted them a burning power that could melt even the strongest armor and counter stasis powers.
"That is an excellent counter to my Quietus Power," Cain thought.
The sharpness in his gaze deepened. This was no ordinary assassin. There was a high chance he had been picked precisely because he could counter Cain’s Ancestor Power.
However, those thoughts were quickly pushed aside.
It did not matter who this man was. It did not matter who had sent him.
Not yet.
The only thing that mattered was defeating him.
Once the battle was over, Cain would pierce into his soul and unravel his memories, extracting every secret he possessed.
Taking a deep breath, Cain drew upon the energy and vitality of the Ocean of the Blood Sun. Power surged into his body, causing his aura to rise explosively.
The next instant, the Eternum Flame manifested across his entire form, spreading outward and filling the sky as it collided with the assassin’s golden fire.
The Royal Bloodline assassin’s expression turned serious.
He no longer underestimated the young man before him. He had already fallen for one trick, and although he appeared unharmed, the white flames had inflicted significant internal damage.
Tightening his grip, he poured more power into his spear. Golden fire erupted along its length, intensifying the heat and vibration of his flames.
The sky burned in gold and white.
Storms erupted across the Ocean of the Blood Sun, raising massive waves that crashed and churned as the two forces pressed against one another.
Their auras continued to rise.
Higher.
Stronger.
Until suddenly—
Both figures vanished.
They reappeared an instant later at the center of the ocean.
Sword and spear collided with such force that the air around them was blasted away, forming a temporary vacuum.
Cain and the assassin locked eyes, pushing their weapons forward, each trying to overwhelm the other through sheer strength.
Power gathered between blade and spear.
It reached a critical point—
—and exploded.
The shockwave hurled both fighters backward.
The assassin regained control first.
Without hesitation, he thrust his spear forward. A massive surge of golden flames burst out, taking the shape of a gigantic serpent that lunged toward Cain.
"His strength is equal to Eonar’s," Cain realized, clenching his teeth. "And his ability allows him to resist my Quietus Force."
The golden serpent slammed into Cain’s Stasis Force Field.
Instead of slowing, its speed remained the same. The particles within it vibrated even faster, actively resisting the freezing effect of Quietus.
At the last moment, Cain regained full control of his body and swung his sword.
White flames burst outward, forming a cocoon around him just as the golden serpent collided.
"BOOOOOOM!"
A massive explosion shook the sky.
Cain’s body was blasted downward, his clothes torn and burn marks covering his skin as he plunged into the blood ocean.
But less than a second later—
A vortex formed beneath the surface.
The ocean began to rotate violently, and an inverted tornado of blood surged upward, shooting toward the assassin like a crimson lance.
The Royal Bloodline warrior narrowed his eyes and retreated, maintaining distance from the advancing storm.
He swung his spear repeatedly, releasing arcs of golden fire that struck the tornado, weakening it piece by piece.
Yet the tip continued advancing, carrying overwhelming force.
The assassin focused his gaze and saw the figure standing within the storm.
His expression hardened.
Adopting a thrusting stance, he arched his back, extended his arms, and gathered power into a single decisive attack.
At the last possible moment, he drove the spear forward.
The rotational force behind the thrust exploded outward, tearing the blood tornado apart as the weapon shot forward with overwhelming killing intent toward Cain’s head.
"Without your Ancestor Power, you are nothing," the assassin sneered. "Only cheap tricks."
A wide smile appeared on his face.
He could already see the spear piercing through the young man’s skull.
Then the smile froze.
Cain’s middle and index fingers moved forward and touched the tip of the spear.
By all logic, the weapon should have shattered those fingers—along with the rest of his arm.
Instead—
The assassin’s eyes widened in pure shock.
The moment Cain’s fingers made contact, the force behind the thrust disappeared.
Not reduced.
Gone.
The assassin froze, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
Then things became even worse.
He watched in horror as the power he had poured into the attack began to flow away from the spear—drawn into the sword held in Cain’s other hand.
The white flames erupted.
Their intensity surged to an entirely new level.
The sky above froze.
The raging clouds halted mid-motion.
The ocean below solidified in place, its waves suspended in towering crimson walls.
Even distant lightning stopped in the air.
The assassin’s heart trembled.
Fear flooded his mind.
"I came under the orders of the Dark Blood Kingdom!" he shouted.
Cain’s eyes narrowed.
Relief appeared on the assassin’s face. In the Dark Blood Realm, the name of that kingdom carried absolute authority. No one dared to act recklessly once it was invoked.
Unfortunately for him—
Cain did not stop.
The Blade at the End of Time moved.
With a single, decisive motion, Cain slashed forward with all his strength.
The strike carved a massive wound across the assassin’s chest. White flames exploded from the injury, spreading inward and outward simultaneously.
Blood erupted from the wound—
—and froze in the air.
The assassin screamed as the Quietus Force invaded his body, locking his muscles and slowing the flow of his energy.
But Cain was not finished.
His expression remained cold and merciless.
Twisting the Blade at the End of Time, he shifted his stance and prepared a second strike.
This time—
He intended to cut the assassin in half.
