Chapter 2074: Alpha-Omega Overgod Natural Inheritance (II)
Chapter 2074: Alpha-Omega Overgod Natural Inheritance (II)
Immediately, focus and sharpness ignited in the eyes of every ArchDeity present. The chamber grew taut with silence, for all of them understood the weight of what was about to be revealed.
In the Second Realm, there were only two Alpha-Omega Overgods. True Depravita of Fear, sent by the Demon King, and the one sent by the Ancient One. Neither had ever directly joined the battlefield. They acted instead as deterrents—immovable pillars whose very existence shaped the balance of power. Their roles had been those of strategists, guiding the armies of the Life Path and the Freedom Path, respectively.
Thus, the mere fact that Zarazel looked ready to intervene personally made it clear just how critical the situation had become. For such a being to descend into open conflict meant that the stakes were no longer ordinary—they had reached the very brink.
Yet one question burned in the hearts of the gathered Deities. What exactly had happened? Had the battles between the forces of Life and Freedom escalated so swiftly that the war was already approaching its zenith? Were the powers of both sides truly prepared to lay everything upon the table?
Countless hypotheses rippled across their minds. But before speculation could spiral, Zarazel’s voice cut through the tension like a blade.
"The reason I have summoned you here is simple," he said, his tone cold and absolute. "Soon, an Alpha-Omega Overgod Tier Natural Inheritance will arise in the Second Realm."
The words struck like thunder. Eyes widened. Breath caught. Desire surged in every heart.
A Natural Inheritance of such level was beyond price. These phenomena could take many forms: a weapon forged by cosmic law, a cultivation art imbued with primordial truths, a shard of essence that altered the very foundation of existence. Whatever its shape, its power was transcendental, a boon that could elevate any who possessed it to terrifying new heights.
And if it fell into the enemy’s hands...
The image alone made several ArchDeities stiffen. If the Freedom Path secured such an inheritance, it could be the tool they needed to finally shatter the stalemate and seize dominion over the Second Realm. And if they succeeded, those who had pledged themselves to the Demon King would face annihilation.
The weight of that possibility silenced the room.
Zarazel let the group murmur among themselves for a few moments before speaking again.
"We cannot allow it to fall to Urin and her forces," he said with grim certainty. "We will march to the Rainbow Bridge, crush all who stand in our path, and claim the treasure for ourselves. Any questions?"
The declaration was blunt. Go in. Kill everyone. Take the inheritance.
It was not an elaborate plan, but none expected one. When dealing with a gathering of beings whose power could shatter realms, simplicity was more valuable than complex strategy.
For a moment, silence reigned. Then, a calm voice rose.
"How certain are you," asked the Enlightened One, his golden eyes calm, "that what awaits us is indeed a Natural Inheritance, and not something else?"
His words carried weight. He had long trained his senses in The Flow, and in recent days he had felt currents of causality converging upon the Rainbow Bridge. The convergence was undeniable, but its meaning was not. Causality could concentrate for myriad reasons, some of them exceedingly dangerous—phenomena best left untouched, even by ArchDeities.
Many in the room shared his doubt. Their eyes glimmered, betraying both interest and unease.
Zarazel met their gazes steadily.
"As one ascends to Overgod," he said, "our souls pierce the fabric of reality itself. We perceive its origin and effect with unmatched clarity. I cannot yet say what form the inheritance will take—but I can say with absolute certainty that in one month and two days, a Natural Inheritance of Alpha-Omega Tier will manifest at the heart of the Second Realm, upon the Rainbow Bridge."
The murmur subsided. His words rang with the unmistakable authority of one who knew. There was no reason for him to lie—if nothing appeared, they would all see it soon enough. Reluctantly, the ArchDeities nodded, accepting the truth laid before them.
But another question rose, sharper than the last, and it set the room on edge.
"Who," asked a voice heavy with quiet power, "will claim the Natural Inheritance once it is secured?"
The speaker was none other than the Scarlet King.
Many eyes turned toward him. Cain and Meylin were the only Early ArchDeities present. Every other figure in the chamber was Middle or Late Stage, their might capable of leveling entire dominions. Yet none dared dismiss the Scarlet King.
After all, his name had already become legend. Before ascending to ArchDeity, he had slain one. He had orchestrated an ambush that allowed the Lord of the Void to nearly cripple the Ancient of Heaven and Heart. He had fought beside Tiamat to end the existence of the Lord of Ages. His reputation burned across the Second Realm, a name whispered with both awe and dread.
And he had only grown stronger since awakening from his slumber.
Zarazel’s eyes lingered on Cain for a moment before sweeping across the assembly.
"The Natural Inheritance," he declared, "will belong to the one who takes it and successfully returns with it to the Heart of Sin. If I must intervene to shield their retreat, if I must risk my life to drag them back into safety, then the Inheritance will be mine. But in exchange, I will grant that person an Alpha-Omega Tier treasure."
Small frowns creased many faces. An Alpha-Omega treasure was extraordinary, yes—but a Natural Inheritance was worth far more. Still, none could deny the fairness of the terms. If Zarazel truly had to risk his existence to shield their escape, then it was a reasonable compromise.
No one voiced dissent. The chamber remained quiet, every ArchDeity weighing the risks and rewards in silence.
Satisfied, Zarazel raised his hand. At once, the energy of the Heart of Sin surged, a tidal wave of shadow concentrating into a single point before expanding outward. The air groaned, space split apart, and a vast portal formed.
The Second Realm was incomprehensibly vast. The Rainbow Bridge lay at its heart, but even for ArchDeities, flight alone would take too long. This portal would deposit them much closer to their destination.
