Chapter 662: Chapter 353: Mr. Bai: I’m About to Die

Ren Qian’s voice echoed in his mind. By the time the residual waves dissipated, Jiang Man was already standing in a forest.

Beneath his feet lay soft, decaying leaves. Numerous towering trees grew all around, their canopies blocking out most of the daylight and leaving only scattered patches of light to filter through the branches. The air carried a damp saltiness, and the faint sound of crashing waves could be heard in the distance.

Two figures stood not far away.

"First Peak, Chen Jinmu." The only female cultivator spoke first, stating her name.

Her features were striking and heroic, with high brow bones and a sharp jawline. She lacked any sense of delicacy. A Spirit Sword hung at her waist, the patterns on its scabbard gleaming with a cold light beneath the dappled sun. However, what Jiang Man cared about more was her affiliation with the First Peak. If he remembered correctly, the Inner Sect’s First Peak was composed of Sword Cultivators.

Rich people.

"Second Peak, Zhao Li," a man who looked to be in his early thirties said.

Standing more than half a head taller than Jiang Man, Zhao Li had broad shoulders and a thick back, giving him a rather burly appearance. His Qi and Blood were vast and majestic. Just standing there, he exuded a scorching, oppressive presence, as if the very air had been warmed by his body heat.

Jiang Man lamented that the people on this outing were actually all rich. The Second Peak consisted of Body Cultivators, entirely different from Magic Cultivators like him. Both paths required spending massive amounts of Spiritual Source, but they were also undeniably stronger.

Jiang Man answered truthfully, "Ninth Peak, Jiang Man."

The two looked at him, their brows furrowing slightly. They hadn’t expected Jiang Man to be from the Ninth Peak. That place had all sorts of people; it wasn’t completely devoid of geniuses, but they were exceedingly rare. Likewise, the people of the Ninth Peak all shared one common trait: they were poor.

Just by looking at their eyes, Jiang Man knew exactly what they were thinking. However, he was also curious whether these two had participated in the Upper Courtyard assessment.

"We haven’t. We already obtained core qualifications, so we can no longer participate in the rankings or the competition," Chen Jinmu explained.

Jiang Man nodded. So that was how it was.

"Let’s go report in first. The people from the Immortal Sect should be here by now," Zhao Li said.

The ones waiting for them were seniors from the Immortal Sect. It would indeed be inappropriate if they delayed and wasted time. The three had no objections, deciding to report in and rendezvous with the people from the Immortal Sect first. The mission was what mattered most. Jiang Man’s sole purpose for this trip was the Supreme Heart Hall.

***

Jiang Man had been to the Overseas Islands before. Back then, his Cultivation was still at Foundation Establishment, and Mr. Ji had brought them here for experiential training. Along the way, they had encountered an Evil God’s attack and even obtained the statue of the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit.

Thinking about it now, there were definitely Evil God subordinates hiding here. He needed to observe carefully. If he discovered anything, he would have to properly "guide" them. Once their Cultivation was high enough, he would send them to the Zhenyue Bureau for reformation. He figured they would surely be happy about it. After all, they would become stepping stones for the Lord Envoy’s success.

Soon, Jiang Man and the others arrived at the guarded area. The one who came to greet them was naturally one of the Stewards, Chen Shi.

"Greetings, three Senior Disciples," Chen Shi bowed respectfully, bending at the waist quite low.

He was somewhat surprised, not expecting to see the Lord Envoy at a time like this. Moreover, according to the news, the Lord Envoy had already reached Primordial Spirit Perfection. The last time they met, he had only been at Foundation Establishment. How did these short few years feel as though decades had passed?

The Lord Envoy was extraordinary indeed. No wonder he could lead them to collectively improve their strength. Even the Lord Evil God was completely helpless against him.

"Steward Chen? Where are the people from the Immortal Sect?" Zhao Li asked immediately. It was obvious this wasn’t his first time here either.

"I will take you three over right now," Chen Shi said. He immediately used Sword Control to take to the skies and lead the way.

The Immortals were not within the archipelago. Instead, they were outside patrolling the sea area, conveniently dealing with matters related to the Evil Gods along the way. This was the first time this remote sea area had been so peaceful. No one had expected such a small place to attract an Immortal Sect patrol.

In the past, everyone had minded their own business. Although there was occasional friction, no major incidents ever occurred, and the balance had never been broken. Who could have imagined that the Immortal Sect would send people, and that they would be true Immortals?

It left the Evil God subordinates completely stunned, and the Ancient Cultivators also shrank back, not daring to step out of line in the slightest. This was the great governance of the Immortal Sect. Attracting these people’s attention would never result in a good ending.

When they learned that it was a Wuyou Evil God who had drawn these forces here, they couldn’t help but feel that this Wuyou Evil God should have just kept its head down. Even if it couldn’t sit still, it shouldn’t have run over here.

Of course, there were also those who deliberately used the sect to do their dirty work, anonymously reporting their rivals for colluding with Evil Gods to eliminate them. In an instant, the realization that colluding with Evil Gods was a severe crime began to spread relentlessly. Outside the Immortal Sect’s great governance, colluding with Evil Gods was originally nothing of concern. But who could have known that people from the Immortal Sect would come to patrol the outside? Now, the crime carried immense weight and became a fatal weakness that rivals could exploit to destroy them.

Soon, Jiang Man and the other two descended using Sword Control onto a rocky coastline.

The sea breeze blew against their faces, carrying a heavy, salty stench. Waves crashed against the reef, splashing white foam that drenched the crushed rocks along the shore. A middle-aged man stood with his hands behind his back at the highest point of the reef, his robes billowing in the sea breeze. Beside him stood a young woman with a sword at her waist; she seemed to possess a Primordial Spirit Cultivation as well.

Jiang Man looked at the young woman and found her somewhat familiar.

"Hundred Rivers Great Success?" Shen Yao looked toward Jiang Man, the expression on her face freezing. She hadn’t expected to run into this person while out on a mission.

The others’ gazes also shifted over. Even the Immortal looked down from atop the reef, asking curiously, "You know each other?"

"He’s at Hundred Rivers Great Success," Shen Yao said. "Back then, he relied on his Hundred Rivers Great Success to force us to do things for him during the Immortal Sect Grand Competition."

The middle-aged man evaluated Jiang Man and asked curiously, "Hundred Rivers Great Success at the Immortal Sect Grand Competition? How old is he?"
