The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 628: Bai Family Ancestor: Your Method Is Truly Unique
P.S. I haven’t proofread this yet. I ran out of time, so give me half an hour.

There were countless Outer Door Shops, and an ordinary flatbread shop reasonably shouldn’t have many customers. Not to mention, it was a targeted shop. Running into someone you knew here was exceedingly difficult.
Let alone the fact that the Outer Sect Seven Peaks covered a vast expanse. Without specifically looking for someone you had only met a few times, you might not bump into them in a lifetime. Yet, against all odds, they had run into each other.
Jiang Man stole a glance at Miss Ji Meng, noticing no particular expression on her face. He wondered what she was thinking.
“These two have a grudge. Will they start fighting?” he thought. “My Cultivation is at the Late Stage. With Ji Meng’s help, we should have a chance of winning. It’s just that we’d easily get caught.”
Moreover, both of them were targets for his mission. “Would it be a good opportunity to send them both back to the Immortal Sect in one go?” he pondered.
Afterward, Jiang Man led Ji Meng to sit at another table. He could feel the person opposite staring at him, leaving him on pins and needles. The person across from him definitely hadn’t checked the almanac before leaving the house today, running straight into two major enemies.
“Why not sit together? It’s rare for us to meet, and I happen to have something to say,” Mr. Bai suddenly said. The hand he had paused mid-air was now lowered.
Jiang Man glanced back at the person behind him, hesitated for a moment, then took out a pen and paper to write something down before sending it off.
“What are you writing?” Mr. Bai asked curiously.
Ji Meng also felt it was strange. She wondered what he could possibly be writing at a time like this.
“A report letter,” Jiang Man answered truthfully.
“Reporting what?” Mr. Bai didn’t quite understand.
Jiang Man looked at him, settled firmly into his seat, and explained, “Reporting that someone with a Primordial Spirit Cultivation is pretending to be at the Foundation Establishment level to stay in the Outer Sect.”
Calling him a spy wouldn’t be accurate, but hiding one’s Cultivation to skulk around the Outer Sect was definitely a rule violation.
Hearing this, Mr. Bai set down the soy milk he had just picked up. He stared at Jiang Man in stunned silence for several breaths before finally saying, “Your methods are… quite unique.”
Even Ji Meng was stunned, a hint of astonishment in her eyes as she looked at Jiang Man. She had always defaulted to killing; it never occurred to her that one could simply report someone like this. Qing Dai had come out to make a move several times but had never managed to come up with a way to lure their target out. With the target hiding in the Outer Sect, they had been completely out of options.
But with this report, it was hard to say whether the other party could remain in the Outer Sect.
They weren’t people who were allowed to walk around freely outside to begin with. Since they managed to come out, they needed to obey the rules even more strictly. Within the Immortal Sect, as long as it wasn’t about leaving the premises, they could generally break whatever other rules they pleased. For instance, during Immortal Sect inspections, half of them would use secluded cultivation as an excuse to completely avoid the inspectors.
But not here. The Immortal Sect was watching closely. One violation, and they could be sent right back. And there was no way to resist.
Mr. Bai quickly recovered. He asked curiously, “I heard you dug up a stone inscribed with the Supreme Skill? The very thing the Array Evil God wants.”
Jiang Man nodded. “I gave it to Miss Ji Meng.”
Mr. Bai didn’t care about that. Instead, he smiled and said, “So you really did make that Evil God seethe with impotent rage, completely unable to do anything to you?”
Jiang Man nodded again.
Mr. Bai looked at him and couldn’t help but chuckle. “You are much stronger than that woman acting like a young girl beside you.”
Pouring water for herself, Ji Meng showed no reaction at all to this. She simply went ahead and poured a cup for Jiang Man as well. Jiang Man looked at the cup, inexplicably feeling that the water seemed icy.
Then, he asked out of curiosity, “Senior, you don’t have a Dao companion, do you?”
Mr. Bai paused in surprise. “I do not, indeed.”
“I do,” Jiang Man said with a smile.
“Is that really something worth showing off?” Mr. Bai asked while eating his flatbread.
“No.” Jiang Man shook his head, then continued, “It’s like Immortal Cultivation. Being at Qi Refining Cultivation isn’t worth bragging about, but reaching the absolute pinnacle of Cultivation is. My Dao companion is exactly like that.”
Mr. Bai stared at Jiang Man. “You really are quite different.”
Hearing this, Jiang Man confidently declared, “You’ll soon realize just how different I am. Moreover, I’ve prepared a massive surprise for Miss Ji Meng. You’ll definitely be envious.”
Mr. Bai shook his head. “What kind of surprise could possibly make me envious?”
Jiang Man ordered two flatbreads and replied, “You’ll find out when the time comes, Senior. It’s something I specially prepared for Miss Ji Meng.”
Mr. Bai frowned at his confidence. Something that would make him envious? He didn’t think such a thing existed. Jiang Man was decent, but he shouldn’t be capable of preparing anything that would evoke envy from him.
Once he finished eating, an imposing aura began to emanate from him. “Since we’ve met, and it’s a rare occasion, let’s have a fight.”
“We’re fighting just like that?” Jiang Man thought, taken aback. He immediately said, “Senior, this is the Outer Sect. If we fight, it will definitely attract people from the Law Enforcement Hall.”
Mr. Bai paid with Spiritual Sources and calmly replied, “Have you forgotten? You’ve already reported me. People will be here momentarily. Leaving you two out of it would be a huge threat to me.”
As his voice fell, Mr. Bai took a step forward, his Primordial Spirit Power erupting from his body. Without the slightest hesitation, he attacked right then and there. ℯ𝔴ℯ
Jiang Man was dumbfounded. If this situation wasn’t handled properly, it would blow up into a massive disaster.
Half an hour later, inside the Law Enforcement Hall’s prison.
The three of them were locked up in separate cells. Mr. Bai sat cross-legged, appearing completely unfazed aside from some minor injuries on his body. Ji Meng sat near Jiang Man’s cell, the hem of her clothes slightly dirtied.
Jiang Man ached all over. It was his first time actually crossing blows with the man, and he was far too strong. He felt like he could win if he used the Evil God’s Technique, but that was just a feeling. In reality, he couldn’t take the other party down quickly, and if the fight dragged on, victory would become even more impossible. His chances of winning were abysmal.
Fortunately, it was still early; he still had massive room for improvement. But right now, there was a rather large problem. Both Ji Meng and the Bai Family Ancestor were people on the list. Now that they were caught, who knew if the situation would escalate into something worse.
