The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 627: Shopping with Ji Meng and Encountering the Bai Family Ancestor
“Even if you gave it up for him, he might not necessarily be grateful. If you ever regret it one day in the future, he’ll just say it was your own choice. He didn’t force you, after all.
“As for the opportunities here, they are full of uncertainties. Xiaopang does know Jiang Man, and the latter will provide some resources. But Jiang Man knows quite a few people, and the resources he can give have a limit. How could it possibly be your turn?
“Besides, as Jiang Man’s Cultivation gets higher and higher, he actually visits less often, and he might bring danger. You won’t see a future staying here. Maybe one day he’ll head off to the Immortal Sect, and then your path will be cut off. But if you go to the Lingyue Sect, our uncle is there to help out.
“I can’t guarantee much, but you will at least reach the Golden Core realm. And the Primordial Spirit realm isn’t completely out of reach. Don’t act on impulse or make a reckless choice. This is a fantastic opportunity that others couldn’t even beg for. You need to live for yourself now.”
Luo Xuan was silent for a long time before she said, “I know.”
“Our uncle will return in a few days. You’ll need to make a choice then, so don’t be foolish,” Luo Lu said earnestly.
Pausing for a moment, she continued, “Even if you want to repay Young Master Gao, you can completely wait until after your Core Formation.”
After a brief hesitation, she spoke again. “Worst comes to worst, even if you feel you must offer yourself in marriage, you can wait until later. By then, you would be marrying as a Golden Core cultivator, which is completely different from your current situation.
“You have to understand this. Only when you become strong yourself and possess enough ability can you secure a better foothold and obtain what you want. Instead of making compromises just to please others.”
Luo Lu offered a few more words of advice before finally leaving.
Luo Xuan remained silent. She realized she wasn’t as young as she used to be. She had started to hesitate and become indecisive. Finally, she looked up at Xiaopang, who was busy working, and said softly, “Young Master Gao, I’m going to go find Cheng Yu.”
Without even lifting his head, Xiaopang nodded absentmindedly. “Okay.”
Luo Xuan then made her way to Cheng Yu’s shop.
“A rare guest,” Cheng Yu said. She was organizing items on the shelves. Hearing the noise, she turned around with a smile. “Did your shop go out of business?”
Luo Xuan didn’t say much else; she simply handed the envelope in her hand to Cheng Yu.
The latter opened it curiously. After a long while, she looked at Luo Xuan in surprise and couldn’t help but marvel, “Miss Luo, you truly have the destiny of a privileged young lady. To think things could turn around for you even like this.”
Luo Xuan paid no mind to her comment. Her gaze remained calm as she simply asked, “If it were you, how would you choose?”
“Do you like Young Master Gao?” Cheng Yu placed the letter on the counter and asked seriously.
Luo Xuan fell silent for a long time. Finally, she shook her head. “I don’t know. When I first arrived with him, I knew my family wanted me to marry him. I had already accepted it back then, thinking there wouldn’t be any turning points, so I simply accepted it calmly.
“Now, I’m suddenly being told that I can leave to pursue a higher Realm. I haven’t been able to process it yet.”
Cheng Yu leaned against the counter, thought for a moment, and said slowly, “If it were me, I would probably go. Young Master Fang doesn’t like me; I’m just clinging to him here. But I would also hesitate. Young Master Fang values relationships and loyalty. As long as he doesn’t get married, I can almost always receive his protection.
“But your situation with Young Master Gao is different. You don’t need to depend on him like I do. After all, yours involves two families. For me, it’s just between two individuals; the interests involved aren’t as complicated as yours.”
Pausing for a moment, Cheng Yu smiled and said, “If you really can’t make a decision, you can toss a Spiritual Source and see which side it lands on. If you don’t really like the side you see, then go with the other.”
Jiang Man led Ji Meng across several mountain peaks and arrived at his own flatbread shop. After all, they had agreed to eat a couple. From a distance, they could smell the aroma of the flatbread.
“It smells even better than before. Has his cooking improved?” Jiang Man couldn’t help but marvel.
The two arrived at the front of the shop. But just as they walked over, they saw a man in white sitting by a wooden table in front of the flatbread shop. He was leisurely eating. With a flatbread in one hand and a bowl of soy milk in the other, his posture was completely relaxed. Sunlight spilled over him, his white clothes as pure as snow, and his entire being exuded an otherworldly aura.
When Jiang Man saw him, his footsteps came to a sudden halt, and he was completely stunned.
Sensing something, the man put down his bowl of soy milk and turned around. Upon seeing Jiang Man and Ji Meng, he froze as well, the flatbread in his hand pausing mid-air.
For a moment, the air seemed to freeze.
