The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 623: Ji Meng: Taking Back the Gift You Gave Me as Soon as You Return?
Chapter 623 -338: Ji Meng: Taking Back the Gift You Gave Me as Soon as You Return?
If they weren’t attacking, they either had ulterior motives or no conflict of interest. Jiang Man, who had just appeared, felt his heart pounding with apprehension. If these people attacked all at once, he might not be able to stop them. Their strength was undeniably formidable, but this was only temporary. In a few years, the tables would be turned.
Truthfully, he hadn’t wanted to alert the people from the Zhenyue Bureau. However, his investigations had concluded that this was the absolute best location for his setup. Yet, judging by their defensive posture, they weren’t going to let him approach easily.
Meeting their guarded gazes, Jiang Man didn’t bother answering their questions. Instead, he produced a Token out of thin air.
The moment the item appeared, Ren Qian and the others’ pupils shrank. A Town Mountain Bureau Token made entirely of jade? They could sense its authenticity through their own Tokens. In a single breath, everyone’s expressions changed drastically. They collectively retracted their auras, bowed their heads respectfully, and saluted. “Greetings, Senior!”
Had someone from the Immortal Sect arrived? They were all curious, but none dared to ask.
Jiang Man walked through the air, heading toward the Array. He remained silent. Speaking too much would ruin his image as a big shot.
Finally, he stepped inside the Array. Ren Qian and his team had no choice but to follow. After all, this senior hadn’t explicitly forbidden it, and as the ones responsible for this small jurisdiction, they couldn’t just stay behind. However, as they entered, they raised their guard. They were ready to strike at the first sign of abnormality. Naturally, they also had to carefully observe the senior’s actions. It would be disastrous if they acted recklessly and disrupted his plans.
“Senior Brother, what do you think he’s trying to do?” the Fairy asked Ren Qian via a voice transmission. They watched as the senior continued inward without doing anything else.
Ren Qian told them not to speak carelessly and to observe first.
For their sake, Jiang Man kindly offered a warning. “An anomaly is going to occur here. If you want to follow, prepare yourselves mentally.”
The group behind him immediately replied with utmost respect, “Please rest assured, Senior. We definitely won’t hold you back.”
With that, Jiang Man said no more. He arrived at a suitable spot, touched down, and casually picked up a dead branch to start drawing on the ground. These Arrays had to be drawn over the enemy’s Array, which meant he first needed to find the nodes of the opposing formation. This severely tested one’s mastery over Arrays. Fortunately, Jiang Man could barely manage it; anything more profound would be beyond him.
Ren Qian and the others stood a short distance away, watching in silence. However, the longer they looked, the more confused they became. The lines seemed to be drawn at random—one stroke here, another there—without any rhyme or reason. It didn’t look like any profound Skill at all; instead, it resembled a child’s crude scribbles in the dirt. But surely, a senior of his stature wouldn’t just draw such things for fun.
“Senior Brother, what do you think his goal is this time? Is he trying to understand the Array, or mark it?” the Fairy asked via transmission once more.
Ren Qian shook his head. “I can’t be sure,” he transmitted back, “but I have a feeling he isn’t just drawing randomly.”
At this moment, Jiang Man was devoting his entire being to carving the Array. As he drew, he realized that this minor Array was meant to correspond with the Evil God Array. The previously incomprehensible Array began to show cracks; he slowly found the loose threads and could follow them to understand its mechanics.
But it still wasn’t enough. Furthermore, Jiang Man didn’t dare waste time—the longer he stayed here, the more dangerous it became. He could only try his best to memorize these concepts and comprehend them later. Because his Heart Spirit was entirely focused on drawing the Array, he wasn’t exactly sure how much he’d manage to remember. Meanwhile, to the onlookers behind him, the senior’s every stroke appeared incredibly haphazard and completely disconnected.
A long time later.
Ren Qian and the others saw the big shot toss aside the withered branch. It hit the ground with a soft CLACK. Following that, he stood up and formed hand seals. The lines they had assumed were randomly drawn suddenly began to glow. At first, it was just a faint luminescence, like the glow of fireflies. In the blink of an eye, the light intensified dramatically as all the lines linked together, forming a complete and perfect Array pattern.
Immediately after, the Array moved like a living creature, rapidly surging toward the Evil God Array to merge with and envelop it. This coverage happened at blinding speed. While Ren Qian and his team were still marveling at the sight, a sudden RUMBLE echoed through the area.
The originally massive and sprawling Evil God Array began to collapse like a toppling skyscraper. Those pale golden veins shattered segment by segment, turning into specks of luminous dust that dissipated into the air. More shockingly, this collapse spread rapidly like flowing blood, surging along the Array’s pathways into the surroundings. Section after section of the Evil God Array disintegrated in quick succession.
Ren Qian and his team watched the scene in utter astonishment. This method was indeed far more convenient than theirs. They wondered how long it would take before the Array reappeared.
The very next moment, they saw the Evil God Array beginning to recondense. New runic lines emerged from the Void, attempting to rebuild themselves. Ren Qian and the others were shocked once more at how fast it rebuilt.
However, the Array left by the senior quickly bloomed again within the newly constructed enemy Array. A screen of light washed over it like a tidal wave. The newly built Array collapsed once again.
Not only that, but this reaction began to spread at an extreme speed. Every time the Evil God Array attempted to rebuild itself, the tiny Array would accurately locate its core nodes and dismantle them. In just a few breaths, the massive Array that they had been powerless to shake actually receded like the tide. No matter how the enemy tried to reconstruct it, the small fragment of an Array left behind by the senior acted like a relentless parasite—impossible to shake off, impossible to eradicate. It rooted itself deeply into the very foundation of the Evil God Array, devouring it anew every single time it tried to rebuild.
Only at this moment did Ren Qian and his team realize with sheer horror that the senior’s casual strokes had actually solved a problem they couldn’t fix no matter what they tried.
