Chapter 622 -338: Ji Meng: Taking Back the Gift You Gave Me as Soon as You Return?

Jiang Man wasn’t the only one curious about He Que’s records; the others were too. Since He Que had been unconscious for so long, there was bound to be a gap between the earlier and later entries. Normally, no one would care about a missing chunk of time. However, throughout their journey, He Que had displayed a meticulous attitude, documenting every minor detail with unwavering precision. This made everyone wonder how exactly he had handled this blank period. What would a “truthful record” of it look like? How could it even be recorded truthfully?

When Jiang Man asked, He Que gave a perfectly normal response: he recorded it truthfully, without any bias.

So, how did he actually record it?

In the end, it was Han Meixue who resorted to pestering him, tugging at his sleeve and shaking his arm for quite a while before finally getting her hands on his notebook. It read as follows:

“July 1st.

“Panic in the shelter. Many hope that Jiang Man, as the person in charge, will do something. However, he says he needs to cultivate.

“July 2nd.

“The atmosphere is oppressive, and many are struggling to bear it. Jiang Man, as the person in charge of recruitment and the shelter manager, turns a blind eye and continues to cultivate. Today, he even wanted to knock everyone unconscious. I questioned whether this was inhumane.

“Mid-to-late July.

“The atmosphere is no longer oppressive. The mountain range is shattered, Lingyue Sect has become a ruin, and reorganization has begun. Jiang Man, as the person in charge of recruitment, is still cultivating.”

That was pretty much it.

Han Meixue flipped through the pages and found large stretches of completely blank space in the middle—not a single word was written.

“What about the time in between?” Jiang Man asked curiously. “Shouldn’t there be an explanation?”

“If he explained it, it probably wouldn’t count as a precise record,” Zhuo Qingcheng said after some thought. “After all, precise recording demands seeking truth from facts. He doesn’t even know how he was knocked out.”

Jiang Man nodded; so that was why he hadn’t written anything. It truly was factual and precise. Although He Que could guess who knocked him out, he had no proof. Without proof, it naturally couldn’t be written into the record.

Afterward, Jiang Man told them to get back to work while he went to cultivate. He Que said nothing, merely opening his notebook in silence and picking up his pen to write a new line. Jiang Man paid no mind to this.

Once the others had left, Jiang Man used the Array Furnace to set up a Secret Skill. Then, he channeled the Evil God’s Technique to start leaving a coordinate.

First, however, he had to cancel the coordinate on Mu Kong’s side. Given Mu Kong’s current level of strength, he could only leave two coordinates, and one was already tied to the courtyard. Therefore, if Jiang Man wanted to use a new coordinate here, he would have to discard the one at his own courtyard. It was a massive loss, and the limitations were severe. He really needed to make Mu Kong work harder.

Once preparations were complete, Jiang Man slipped into the shadows and headed toward the perimeter.

The Evil God Array still lingered there, continuing its ceaseless expansion. The Array Patterns moved like living creatures, slowly but resolutely creeping toward the borders of the Immortal Sect’s dominion in order to wreak havoc in certain areas. This kind of destruction required constant supervision and maintenance to counter, making it incredibly costly and fraught with hidden dangers. If a way to suppress it couldn’t be found, they would truly have to shrink their defensive perimeter just to sustain the cost of holding the line.

At that moment, Ren Qian was leading a group of people atop a mountain peak. Fierce mountain winds whipped at their robes. In the ruins beneath their feet, faint golden Array Patterns spread out like spiderwebs, extending into the distance at a visible pace.

“This is very troublesome. I wonder if the Sect has a solution,” a Fairy nearby said, her brows tightly furrowed as she watched the ever-spreading array.

Ren Qian shook his head. “We’ve already asked the Immortal Sect for help, but I don’t know if their people have a way. Right now, all we can do is record the array here and then clear it out.”

“It’ll just expand again once it’s cleared. Doesn’t her power deplete at all?” the Fairy asked.

Ren Qian shook his head again. Naturally, he couldn’t comprehend how this power worked or why the array seemed endless, continuously manifesting and extending. No matter how they destroyed it, it always came back.

“Can’t we have that junior martial brother with the self-sustaining technique come and try?” the Fairy suggested. “His method shares some similarities with this.”

After a moment of silence, Ren Qian replied, “If he had a way, he would have come already. A merit like this means Spiritual Sources. Do you think he wouldn’t want that?”

The group fell silent; that was indeed true. Afterward, they resumed recording the array, planning to destroy it once their notes were complete.

“I’ll do it this time,” Ren Qian said, taking a deep breath. “I’ll try a different method. Perhaps it will suppress it effectively.”

Currently, all they could do was figure out how to suppress its regeneration speed; completely destroying it was out of the question. They could only leave that to the people from the Immortal Sect.

Just as Ren Qian circulated his Spiritual Power and prepared to strike, he suddenly felt a beam of light shine abruptly from behind him. The glow was soft yet impossible to ignore, as if a small Taiyang had risen at his back. In an instant, the entire group whirled around to look. Their auras erupted, ready to strike at a moment’s notice.

“Who’s there?!”

Power surged in Ren Qian’s hands, on the verge of launching an attack.

It was then that they saw a figure standing behind them, having arrived who knew when. The person emanated a gentle light that wasn’t dazzling but demanded attention. The glow shrouded his face, obscuring his exact features and leaving only a faint, slender silhouette visible.

“Who are you, sir?” Ren Qian asked, his voice low.

The stranger’s appearance was far too sudden; they hadn’t sensed him at all. His strength couldn’t be gauged, but Ren Qian’s intuition told him it would be unwise to make a rash move. The other party clearly could have launched a sneak attack, yet he hadn’t.
