The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 609: Eternal Sinner
Chapter 609 -332: Eternal Sinner
Jiang Man finished reading the envelope’s contents and searched through it carefully, his brow furrowing.
“No reward? Who would work for you for free?” he thought.
He tested it and found that the items couldn’t be taken away. He casually touched the bead.
[Not worth mentioning.]
Shaking his head, Jiang Man left the Array. As soon as he was out, he wrote a reply and had the Seven-Colored Bird deliver it to Miss Ji Meng.
“They’re a sinner through the ages, yet they still won’t give any Spiritual Sources. Trying to freeload off an Unparalleled Celestial Pride?” he thought.
That afternoon, Jiang Man received a reply stating that the bead originated from the ancient Immortal Court and was a core artifact among the One Hundred and Eight Star Constellations. Carrying the bead could calm the mind, focus the spirit, and accelerate Cultivation speed. Although it had little effect on the new Skill, selling it to a Sect would easily fetch a million. If a usable new bead was researched, he could even get one for free.
Jiang Man felt disappointed in the Celestial Mirror Hundred Books.
“No eye for value at all. It didn’t even mention such a good item,” he thought.
However, Jiang Man didn’t dwell on it. Since they said to give it to a woman surnamed Meng, it had to be Meng Qiewei. He would just hand it over directly and save the bead decades of pointless detours.
He figured the senior surnamed Jian would agree. After all, the man hadn’t explicitly refused.
Jiang Man cast the matter aside. He barely had enough time for his own Cultivation; who would bother with such trivial matters? Asking if he regretted it was entirely superfluous. It was better to continue improving his Cultivation. With that decided, Jiang Man focused on advancing his Cultivation.
Currently, he was at the Late Stage of Primordial Spirit and his Physical Body was also at the Late Stage. The Gourds for the Late Stage had all been unlocked, but none were fully accumulated yet. Once they were full, his strength would experience another massive leap. By then, he would truly have few rivals within the Primordial Spirit Realm. And once he reached Perfection, he would be completely invincible.
Achieving Great Success in the Nine-star Series paired with a Grand Technique, combined with Mr. Ji’s power utilization, his opponents would face Void Extinction. The only exceptions would be those descending from higher Realms, such as Ji Meng or the Bai Family Ancestor. However, armed with the Evil God’s Technique, he could kill the Bai Family Ancestor. When the time came, he would go face the Bai Family Ancestor and complete the Ting Fengyin mission.
It had been so long, and he hadn’t completed a single mission. The only thing that could be considered progress was saving Zhao Tiankuo—he had saved the man twice.
Five days later.
The fat man came looking for him, reporting that the preliminary handover was complete. Next, they would establish the Yunqian Bureau and have all age-appropriate individuals join it. Ten days later, the Yunqian Bureau was initially established. However, it wasn’t a newly constructed building; rather, a massive manor had been renovated for the purpose. Building from scratch would take too long, so it was better to let them start learning now.
Cyan City Sect was eager to fulfill the Sect’s decree. Within fifteen days, all handovers were finalized, and the Yunqian Bureau was fully operational. Instructors were assigned to every village to guide Cultivation. Personnel from the Sect had also arrived to begin comprehensive training. Furthermore, some individuals were selected to go to the Wuyun Sect for advanced studies before returning.
That day, Jiang Man and his group departed via Sword Control, heading toward their final destination: the Lingyue Sect. The fat man and the others saw Jiang Man off with a sense of melancholy. To this day, they still hadn’t figured out exactly what caliber of genius disciple Jiang Man was. Perhaps only the Elders who took in the advanced students at the Wuyun Sect would be able to understand.
Early June.
Jiang Man and his companions arrived safely at the Lingyue Sect. From the outside, the place looked completely unchanged.
“It seems there haven’t been any major changes. I wonder if the people inside have changed,” Zhuo Qingcheng remarked.
If the people inside hadn’t changed, taking this place would be incredibly easy. After all, the strongest person here was only at the Early Stage of Primordial Spirit. Previously there was only one; now there were at most two.
“Shouldn’t we investigate in secret first?” Han Meixue asked.
“There’s no need. We’ve already visited so many places; word has surely leaked out by now,” Jiang Man replied. “Besides, if someone else has intervened here, investigating would be pointless. We’ll just march right into the Sect and gauge their attitude.”
With that decided, they sent their formal calling card.
Before long, the Young Sect Leader—the very same one Jiang Man had previously heavily injured—made an appearance. He looked at Jiang Man and the others with surprise, but also a hint of joy.
“Upper Envoy?” The Young Sect Leader stared at Jiang Man, extremely agitated. “Senior, please, come in quickly!”
Others might not know Jiang Man, but how could he not? He had been present when that world-shaking powerhouse arrived later on. His reverence for Jiang Man was unmatched by anyone else. Although he had been severely injured, the incident had actually given him more prestige within the Sect. Not just anyone was qualified to be defeated by a person of such caliber. It was an honorable defeat.
“You were already aware that we were coming, right?” Jiang Man asked as they walked.
“Yes, our Lingyue Sect has been waiting. We have no objections whatsoever,” the Young Sect Leader replied immediately. He paused, a look of distress crossing his face. “But it’s not just a matter of us agreeing. Recently, some people arrived at our Sect, and it seems they want to take over as well.
“They nearly resorted to force. If we hadn’t brought up that the Upper Envoy was the benefactor of the Lingyue Sect, we might have been beheaded by now.
“I didn’t expect our benefactor to actually show up.”
The Young Sect Leader looked at Jiang Man, a fanatic glint beginning to form in his eyes. Jiang Man was powerful and didn’t possess an overwhelming bloodlust. It wouldn’t even be an exaggeration to say they had a friendly connection. And of all people, Jiang Man was the one who came this time. What did this signify? It meant the Lingyue Sect was destined for greatness and was bound to soar into the heavens.
“Do you know who they are?” Jiang Man asked.
“It should be another Sect from the vicinity, likely a rather powerful one,” the Young Sect Leader said, not entirely certain himself.
Other Sects from the periphery? Jiang Man was unaware if there were any powerful Sects outside their immediate area.
“The Sect map shows that there are indeed Sects beyond the great southern mountain range, and they aren’t weak. However, crossing over is extremely difficult, so by all logic, we should be minding our own business,” Zhuo Qingcheng explained.
The opponents’ appearance was indeed somewhat illogical. However, there was one crucial point they needed to clarify; as long as that was confirmed, whether anything else made sense didn’t matter.
“What is their Cultivation level?” Jiang Man asked.
“Our Sect Leader said they might be at the Late Stage of Primordial Spirit, or even Primordial Spirit Perfection,” the Young Sect Leader answered cautiously.
Jiang Man nodded. “And how many of them came?”
“Seven,” the Young Sect Leader replied.
Jiang Man was slightly surprised by the large number, but it wouldn’t make much of an impact.
At this moment, the Sect Leader and the Grand Elder were gathered in the main hall. Both were fraught with worry. As for going down to meet the envoys from the Wuyun Sect, they didn’t dare to act rashly. There was an Array set up here, and if they made any movements, the hidden enemies might notice, inevitably drawing down a massive disaster.
Soon, the Young Sect Leader hurried into the grand hall, his face filled with joy. “Sect Leader, Grand Elder, look who’s here!”
Only then did Jiang Man step inside. When the two men saw him, they were momentarily stunned before sheer delight washed over them.
They were well aware of Jiang Man’s extraordinary nature. While they couldn’t ascertain his exact strength, someone who could associate with a world-shaking powerhouse could not possibly be weak.
“Upper Envoy, something has happened here. We are being eyed by powerful enemies,” the Sect Leader reported immediately.
Jiang Man paid no mind to this and instead asked, “They aren’t here?”
“Correct. They are hiding in the shadows and said they could appear at any moment,” the Sect Leader explained quickly, despite his confusion.
Jiang Man nodded. He promptly took out an Array Furnace, instantly sealing the area.
“What is this?” the Sect Leader and the others asked, bewildered.
“Don’t worry about that,” Jiang Man said calmly, looking at the two men. “Do you know why I’m here this time?”
The Sect Leader and the others nodded. They had known for a long time and had been eagerly anticipating this arrival. This way, the Lingyue Sect would no longer be a wild Ancient Sect, but rather an Ancient Sect under the grand governance of the Immortal Sects—a subordinate Sect of the Wuyun Sect.
Jiang Man nodded. “So, what is your stance?”
“We have absolutely no objections,” the Sect Leader agreed immediately, though he added with concern, “But the experts hiding in the shadows…”
Before he could even finish his sentence, Jiang Man took out a contract. “Sign it.”
The Sect Leader and the Grand Elder were both taken aback. Just sign it like that? Weren’t they going to deal with those experts first?
Jiang Man didn’t have time to bother with those experts; completing his mission came first. As for whatever those experts planned to do afterward, he would just let the other people from the Wuyun Sect handle it. After all, dealing with invaders was also a mission. Since this was Wuyun Sect territory, they couldn’t allow outsiders to run amok. Those were two separate matters.
When the time came to complete that mission, he would definitely collect a reward. Surely no one could accuse him of being unreasonable then, right? Nor would it count as him creating a problem just to solve it himself.
The Sect Leader was a bit perplexed, feeling that the procedure was somehow backwards. However, since Jiang Man told him to sign, he signed without daring to utter a second word.
