Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Checking for Disguises

The two people stood up while talking, and outside the Eight Treasures Pavilion, Rong Ling’s voice came in: "Not a single word about tonight’s events is to be spoken."

Rong Jia and Rong Yifeng immediately understood what Rong Ling meant.

If Aunt’s skills were known by others, she would be in danger. Surely, someone would want to use her for their own ends. If she couldn’t be used, they would kill her.

The two of them exchanged a glance and nodded before walking out.

Inside the Purple Bamboo Pavilion, Feng Qing washed up and went to bed. Although she was frightened tonight, she did manage to resolve one matter, as Rong Ling canceled the ten-day deadline agreement.

So now she could relax and stay in the Regent Prince Mansion, and as for other matters, she could take her time.

Thinking this, Feng Qing closed her eyes to sleep. She hadn’t slept well the previous night, and after all the commotion today, she was quite tired.

But just as she closed her eyes, footsteps sounded from outside, and soon after, Si Qi’s surprised voice rang out.

"Prince."

In a daze, Feng Qing thought, Prince? Rong Ling? What’s he doing here at this late hour?

Before she was fully awake, she felt a whirlwind rush to her bedside, and then someone lifted the bed curtains and lunged at her.

Feng Qing was startled awake, instinctively wanting to move, but unfortunately, the visitor quickly reached out and pressed her acupoint.

She couldn’t move at all, only able to look up at the man staring down at her from the side of the bed, his eyes full of unfathomable depth.

Feng Qing broke into a cold sweat from shock—it couldn’t be that this guy had spared her only to regret it now. Was he here to take her life while she slept?

"Prince, Prince, what do you want to do?"

Rong Ling’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, cold light flickering within. He slowly leaned in closer towards Feng Qing.

Feng Qing wanted to retreat, but she couldn’t move, only able to look at the approaching man in fright.

"Prince, what do you want to do?"

Rong Ling’s face was close to hers, inspecting the spider on Feng Qing’s face in the lamplight before raising a hand to touch her face.

Feng Qing was utterly horrified. She instinctively opened her mouth to shout, "Prince, men and women should not touch each other."

...

"Get away from me."

...

"Don’t come closer."

...

"Don’t touch me."

...

Outside, Si Qi blushed, caught in a dilemma. Should she go in or not?

What the Prince wanted to do, the Princess Consort clearly didn’t agree with. Should she assist the Prince, or help the Princess Consort?

After thinking it over, Si Qi decided there wasn’t much use in her going in. If the Prince wanted to do something, she couldn’t stop him anyway. Better just leave it, the Princess Consort would have to fend for herself.

With that thought, Si Qi decisively ran out of the room, leaving the space inside to the two people.

Inside, Rong Ling ignored Feng Qing entirely. After checking with his hand, he confirmed that the spider on her face wasn’t painted on—so could it have been applied with medicine?

Following that thought, Rong Ling leaned in close to Feng Qing’s cheek and lightly sniffed, checking if there was any medicine smell on her face.

Feng Qing didn’t want to say anything anymore; her heart was weary.

After sniffing, Rong Ling confirmed that the spider on her face was neither painted nor applied with medicine, indicating this person was truly the eldest daughter of the Feng Family.

Deep in thought, Rong Ling stood up and, recalling Feng Qing’s earlier shouting, couldn’t help but sneer as he spoke, "What did you think I wanted to do?"
