Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Nothing in the World Is Perfect

Rong Jia and Rong Yifeng grew more astonished as they spoke, their gazes filled with delight when they looked at Feng Qing. From the side, Rong Ling spoke up, "Alright, you may go back."

Feng Qing was overjoyed and turned to Rong Ling, saying, "Prince, so I don’t, I don’t need to do that anymore?"

She feared speaking the word "die," afraid he might respond with something like, "then go and die."

Rong Ling, however, did not make things difficult for her, and said blandly, "Isn’t it about redeeming yourself through service? This time I’ll spare you, but if there’s a next time, I absolutely won’t give you another chance."

Her phoenix eyes instantly emanated a chilling murderous aura.

Feng Qing could tell this man was being earnest; if she offended again, he would genuinely kill her. So, this time, she nodded seriously with sincerity, "I promise I won’t do it again."

Without waiting for Rong Ling to speak, she assertively added, "Prince, can the matter of ten days also be settled?"

Rong Ling recalled that the reason she left tonight was because of the ten-day agreement. In fact, when he imposed the ten-day term, it wasn’t truly to crush her bones but merely to teach her a lesson.

Unexpectedly, she took it seriously. Considering she was still useful, he decided to temporarily overlook it.

"Seeing as you’re still of use, let’s not set a time for now; go back."

"Alright."

This time, Feng Qing nimbly turned and walked out, resolving the matter of the ten-day term, and felt relieved considerably.

According to her previous observation of the Little Emperor, while he outwardly respected Rong Ling, he actually harbored intense hatred for this Uncle. However, aside from hatred, he also feared him. Someday, he would surely make a move against Rong Ling, at which point her lies would be vindicated.

She would then be free.

Feng Qing thought over these matters as she briskly returned to the Purple Bamboo Pavilion.

Upon entering the Purple Bamboo Pavilion, Si Qi looked at her face in surprise, stumbling over her words for a good half of the day, "Princess Consort, your face, weren’t you sleeping? You told the servants not to disturb you, why did you come in from outside."

Feng Qing was a bit embarrassed but would never disclose her midnight escapade, so she smiled and said, "Haha, just went out for a walk."

Saying this, she walked into the room while Si Qi puzzled, contemplating that taking a walk with a face painted like this must be some strange quirk of the Princess Consort. Also, she seemed not to have seen the Princess Consort going out, nor heard the little maids outside mentioning it. What was going on?

Si Qi thought about it for a moment but didn’t dwell further, and attended to Feng Qing, helping her cleanse and climb into bed to rest.

In the front courtyard, as soon as Feng Qing left, Rong Jia and Rong Yifeng gathered beside Rong Ling and started whispering.

"Little Uncle, tell us, how is Aunt so impressive, courageous, and skillful? If it weren’t for her ugly face, she and Little Uncle would make such a perfect pair."

"It’s hard for things in this world to be perfect. Some people are good-looking but useless, while others have talent but lack in appearance."

Rong Ling ignored the two chattering nephews, his eyes thoughtful as he lightly sipped wine from his cup, pondering Feng Qing’s earlier actions. He once again suspected that the woman might not be the eldest Miss of the Feng Family.

But he had previously investigated; the woman wasn’t in disguise, nor was she wearing a human skin mask. That face was truly real.

If that face was real, could the spider on the face be fake, using some special technique painted on, or perhaps induced by some medication?

As this thought crossed his mind, Rong Ling rose and walked briskly towards the outside.

Behind him, Rong Jia and Rong Yifeng couldn’t help but call out, "Little Uncle, where are you going?"

"I have matters to attend to, you may return."

"Alright, then let’s continue drinking later!"
