Chapter 252: Blood and Fire 3
Everyone stared in shock as Rose got riddled with holes without the commentator doing anything to stop it. No one even had the time to figure out what emotion they were feeling.
However, before the situation could spiral into anything worse, a few perceptive individuals noticed something wrong, including Kaal himself who had been shocked earlier.
Rose’s body was still standing even though her head had tilted backwards, which should not have, been the case if she were dead.
But their thoughts were soon put to a stop as Rose’s head slowly rose back up to face Kaal in an eerie motion, her eyes glowing with furious incandescent flames.
The flames then washed over her entire body, wherever it passed, it mended skin, muscle and bones alike. In less than a second, Rose was as good as new.
Silence ensued be it on floating platform, the audience, or even on the theatre where the participants who had lost were still watching the tournament.
"W...w...what?! She’s healed just like that?!" A demon gaped.
"That is so unfair!" Another exclaimed.
"Isn’t that technically cheating?!" Someone else asked.
"The hell you’re talking about?" Delilah who heard the other races commenting about it, sparked. "Only taking healing potions or using an artifact to heal is cheating. And this is clearly part of her ability."
Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, Kaal stared at Rose, a grim frown marring his already hideous face and making him more unsightly to look at.
For all he knew, Rose could keep coming back to her untouched form no matter what damage he dealt. ’No! With a healing ability this strong,’ Kaal thought. ’It must have some drawback.’ He reasoned. But him knowing it has some drawback didn’t mean he knew the drawback, hence the frown.
Rose meanwhile, didn’t stop to think after recovering. Her sword appeared in her hand and she swung it at Kaal with no hesitation.
[Blooming Spring]
A massive wave of tsunami formed and billowed it’s way with crushing weight towards Kaal at the swing of Rose’s sword.
’Hmmph, as if I’d let myself get caught again!’ Kaal inwardly scoffed before resummoning his spear and making an overhead slash.
[Bloodrider of Hell’s Gate]
A massive Blood rider welding a spear appeared behind Kaal and mirrored the demon prince’s movement, making an overhead slash at the incoming tsunami with all it’s enormous might.
The world flashed with a red light as the spear cleaved the tsunami in two, reducing it to nothing but a flowing river of water.
But Rose was nowhere to be seen after everything subsided. Kaal’s instinct screamed, and he reacted to it, instantly raising his spear to block the sword that had appeared before his face.
Then pivoting with one foot, he kicked at Rose’s side, blasting her away to the side, then aimed his hand at her.
[Blood Cannon]
A jet of blood materialized and shot towards rose with maddening speed, reaching her in the fraction of a second. An area of effect flames burst out from from everywhere around her body, producing a spherical shield of flames.
But with a flex of Kaal’s will, the blood Cannon swiftly changed directions and surged upwards, before solidifying into a hardened blood spear, and falling down on Rose at a speed that eclipsed it’s ascension.
Rose sensed the danger almost instantly, and blurred backwards, but the spear accelerated even further and embedded itself into her torso, lifting her off her feet and crashing her through the nearest mountain with it’s residual force.
A force akin to an explosion burst outwards as the mountain was reduced to a shadow of it’s former self.
Meanwhile, up on the floating platform, in the area where Anastasia, Alistair, and Calum were seated, an unwelcomed guest sauntered over to them.
"You! What are you doing here?!" Calum scowled the moment he saw the unwelcomed guest.
"That is quite the rude thing to say to your saviour." Damon smiled.
"Saviour my ass!" Calum grumbled.
Damon only shook his head paying no head to him and turned to Anastasia. "Thought I’d come to offer my condolences. It seems that your friend is on the losing end, even with her uncanny regeneration."
"That much is obvious." Anastasia replied with a smile. "I’d be more concerned about my own match if I were you." She glanced at Alistair.
"The Imposter, right?" Alistair smirked. "I sure hope you won’t be a disappointment."
"Oh, believe me, I’ll try not to be." Damon smirked in return. "In fact, why don’t I just sit here since the ongoing match will be ending in a bit?" Damon said as he took the empty seat between Calum and Anastasia.
The three exchanged a look, but none of them spoke a word.
Meanwhile, down in the battlefield, Rose staggered up to her feet, the hole in her torso already knitting back together with visible speed, only to see another massive blood warrior forming behind Kaal, it’s spear gleaming ominously with a red light.
[Descending Heaven]
The blood rider swung straight at her, it’s titanic strength splitting the air apart as the spear descended.
Rose bent her legs and jumped high into the sky, but unfortunately for her, it still wasn’t enough to escape the might if the bloodrider.
Under Kaal’s will, the bloodrider shifted itself with a grace that belied it’s size, and redirected it’s spear upward to swat Rose out of the sky.
However, Rose redirected herself using a jet of flames from the side of her body, letting her successfully evade the bloodrider’s attack.
Unfortunately, she played right into Kaal’s awaiting attack. The demon prince was somehow floating next to her in a disk of blood, with several blood bullets floating next to him.
Once again, the blood bullets riddled Rose’s body with see through holes. But Kaal wouldn’t fall for the same thing like last time. Even as Rose’s body began falling towards the ground, he manipulated the blood in her body to rampage through out her body, tearing any and everything of importance.
The blood tore through her blood vessels, heart, and even brain. Rose began bleeding from her seven orifices along with the bullet holes in her body.
Then in one final attack, A massive hammer of blood appeared in the air, and swung at Rose’s falling body with immense wight.
Rose’s body disappeared from where the blood hammer came in contact with her and kissed the ground almost instantly, forming a massive crater with her crash.
For several moments, everyone held their breaths, including Kaal, curious to see whether Rose would stand up from something even as gruesome as this.
Then suddenly, it happened. A brilliant flame briefly covered Rose and when it faded, she was as good as new.
’If she can keep doing that indefinitely, I’ll surely lose.’ Kaal thought grimly.
"However, his grim outlook soon changed when Rose opened her mouth.
"I can no longer continue this match. I forfeit!" Her voice rang out clear against the backdrop of silence.
Even the proctor was silent for several moments before he found his voice once more.
"KAAL VON SANGUINE WINS!!!"
"THAT IS NOT TO SAY THAT THE PHOENIX PRINCESS IS ANY LESS! DARE I SAY THAT IF SHE HADN’T RAN OUT OF AETHER, SHE’D BE THE ONE TO WIN THIS CONVERGENCE!" The proctor praised Rose too.
He firmly believed that with the way Rose’s regeneration worked, if she hadn’t ran out of aether, who amongst the current participants would actually hope to beat her?
Even Kaal, his own brother would have eventually lost had the fight kept going. Though, just because Rose could last longer than anyone else and could heal herself didn’t mean she was the strongest.
Not even close, It was evident in how Kaal kept smacking her around. The only reason he even got burned was because he underestimated her attacks and thought his blood wall could stop it.
Had Kaal retreated instead of trying to tank that attack, he wouldn’t have secured such injuries.
But that was all in the past, what mattered was that Kaal had won and that Rose had lost.
"You did well, Sister, he was just a little out of your league, a two ranks above you." Damon inwardly muttered to himself.
Were Rose to also be at the Zeta+ rank just like Kaal, Damon believed she would have won, she was part of the main cast after all. Further in the novel, Rose would even gain the moniker; The undying princess.
But that was in the future. Damon watched as Rose and Kaal’s figures were both transported out of the pocket realm, one because she had lost, and the other because he needed fixing.
"NOW, FOR THE NEXT MATCH OF THE DAY, I CALL ON, THE MOST FAMOUS MAN ON NAHAAR HIMSELF, THE BEARER OF AN OMEGA RANKED PHYSIQUE, ALISTAIR VON DRAKE!!!"
"AND FACING HIM WE HAVE THE DARK HORSE OF THIS CONVERGENCE, THE MAN WHO HAS REPEATEDLY SURPRISES US, AND THE MOST MYSTERIOUS IN THIS TOURNAMENT, THE IMPOSTER AMONG US!!!"
