Chapter 1752: Let Them Be

Chapter 1752: Let Them Be

Amaterasu watched the fight from above, her glowing golden eyes flashing with light. Her archons kept massaging her as she worked on her magic, but then, one of them asked. She looked worried and quite disturbed.

“Nyar, he is right there. Shouldn’t we go help them?” She was right. Even if Amaterasu was busy, she sure could spare one or two of her archons. She knew well that Amaterasu didn’t need a massage; it was just so the archons wouldn’t be standing around doing nothing.

The archons were different than other angels in how they think; if left without a task for long, they could fall into depression quite quickly, and they always sought attention from their divine gods.

So it was healthier to give them any task than to leave them just standing there. And as it seems, even now, one of them started feeling useless as they watched the fight without doing anything.

Amaterasu turned around and looked at the archon with a faint smile. “Oh, old wise one. You aren’t wrong, the best course of action now is that I go down and kill Nyar, save Arad and Gojo, then figure things from there.” She leaned back. “The best solutions are often the boring ones. They will eventually lead to stagnation.”

The archon looked back at Amaterasu with a troubled face. “Then… why shouldn’t we help?”

It was as if the archon didn’t hear the last part. Amaterasu hoped that some of her archons would learn a bit from Lydia and start thinking on their own a bit… wait, Lydia doesn’t think for herself, Jack does most of that for her.

Amaterasu reached up and patted the archon on her head. “You’re a good one. But you don’t realize that us interfering would just… hinder those two.” Her eyes shifted to look toward Arad and Gojo fighting Nyar.

She could feel her coming, the tiny troublemaker. No, she isn’t a troublemaker; she doesn’t allow troubles to happen without her interference.

At that moment, Yog appeared from nothing and glared down, spotting Arad and Gojo barely keeping up with Nyar.

AO and the overgod, all of the hard work was now on the line, at the edge of getting lost. She was certain Amaterasu was around, so why didn’t she finish Nyar off already?

It should be obvious, since all abominations are kill-on-sight, then it is even more important to kill them if they are threatening those two. What’s more, Yog knew Amaterasu was the last one that would show them any mercy.

Amaterasu might look beautiful, gentle, and loving. But that is only to the universe and its people. The moment an abomination steps into the universe, it is desecrating AO’s corpse and thus would call in the sun’s wrath.

To Amaterasu, AO was like a father. He was to her what Arad is to Yuwaku. So seeing those filthy maggots crawling into her father’s corpse, trying to eat him, really turns her stomach and boils her blood.

Yog sadly didn’t have time to care and had to fly in to kill Nyar before he could harm those two. But before she could do that, a hand grabbed her by the neck and pulled her back. “Where are you going, lovely?”

Yog gasped, finding herself in Amaterasu’s warm embrace.

“Amaterasu! Let me go, we need to help them!” Yog growled, and Amaterasu just grabbed her tighter. “You aren’t going anywhere. Let them play.”

This wasn’t the time for such things; Arad and Gojo are below fighting for their lives. Yog wouldn’t mind entertaining Amaterasu later, but now she had work to do. They both had work to do.

Yog glared back at her. “If Arad gets harmed, everything will go down the drain!”

Amaterasu giggled with a smile as she rubbed her face in Yog’s hair, “This tiny head of yours, overthinking everything. They’ll be fine. A bit of pain and risk are needed for their growth.”

Yog frowned. “Measured and calculated risk. Throwing them into a fight like this is out of the question!” She then turned around and tried to push Amaterasu away, but couldn’t.

“Controlled risk isn’t a risk at all, no matter how realistic you make it look. Do you know why?” She pulled Yog into a hug and wrapped her legs around her so she won’t escape.

“Huh? That doesn’t make any sense! Risk isn’t what makes them grow, but challenge. I can manufacture problems and challenges for them to overcome and grow. Your approach is just too primitive and risky.” Yog tried to use magic to escape Amaterasu’s grasp, only to have her magic shatter and fail.

“You might be omniscient, but you aren’t wise, are you?” Amaterasu giggled and increased her grip strength on Yog, almost cracking her spine. “If you plan everything in their lives, then they’ll never grow stronger or smarter than you are.”

Yog took a deep breath, wrapped her arms around Amaterasu’s torso, and grabbed the strap of her Yukata. “Yeah, that doesn’t make sense! A house built by a human is still more durable than they were.” She pulled on the strap, undid Amaterasu’s Yukata, and slipped with the fabric thanks to her thin build.

As expected, Amaterasu wore nothing beneath her Yukata.

As Yog thought she escaped Amaterasu’s grasp, she suddenly found herself on the floating cloud, with Amaterasu sitting on her chest, pinning her down. “I can wrestle better than you. I might only fight at range with stars, but you know better than anyone else that I know how to use my body well.”

Yog’s eyes twitched. “You’re giving me one treat with that body of yours, but listen! It doesn’t matter who wins the wrestling; we can even kiss if you want. What I want to understand is why you are getting in my way? We need to protect them.” All Yog cared about now was getting out of Amaterasu’s grasp and killing Nyar to save Arad and Gojo, even though normally she wouldn’t mind wrestling her longer. As expected of the one Nymph among the gods.

Amaterasu leaned down and gave her a kiss on the forehead. “You little thing. Rest assured, this is for the best.” Amaterasu looked at the fight below and then smiled. “AO created the universe, but he didn’t hold anyone’s hands. He gave them power and let them solve their own problems. Otherwise, he would’ve fought the abominations directly instead of creating the gods.”

Yog sighed. “The abominations are an infection plaguing his body, that why he created the gods. They are a disease; Nyar is just the carrier. Are you saying AO should’ve torn his immune system out and punched a sickness away?”

Amaterasu smiled. “That is one way to look at it. But, aren’t you over-medicating?” She then lay on top of Yog, pressing her down with her chest. “Fever is good, it is your body trying to fight on its own. You can’t be shutting every small fever out just because it is a risk. If someone gets a cold, they’ll be fine without healing magic. Let the kids play in the dirt, it’ll help them grow.”

Yog sighed. “First with Entropy, now here.” She stopped resisting. “A compromise. I’ll leave them to you, but you have to keep them alive no matter what.”

Amaterasu looked at Yog with a grin. “That why I love you so much. Don’t worry, I’ll keep them alive, sane, and perfect.”
